Have you tried including it in your .miz zipfile and loading it out of there and seeing if it works? It might be worth a shot. I haven't tried it personally. Luasocket is a standalone library, you don't necessarily have to use the copy that ships with DCS. Alternatively you could attempt to load it out of the path that it sits in, in the DCS install folder. Once again, I'm not in a position to attempt to test either of those things right now. Running a seperate process outside of the game in order to scrape a logfile is not a realistic or workable solution to modding in the long term IMHO.

EPLRS-equipped units will show up with little green crosses on the TGP and TAD so that you know where not to shoot.

WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration
Headspace replied to Headspace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
We do, actually. The ArmA community is small enough that most people know each other. And the ACRE people were very helpful in describing the pitfalls of the old sound system that TS3 used, which I think I acknowledged in my credits. Of course it is a moot point now since their (TS3's) use of FMOD is no longer a reality. While the projects may be superficially similar, there is a lot going on under the hood that isn't. ArmA 2 is a very different animal from DCS which is obvious on its face but becomes more obvious when you try to mod either of the games. While the former is very, very easy to add content to and a non-programmer can do it, DCS has the edge when it comes to exporting raw data. So, the main issue is the moddability of both of the games and how you go about doing that. When you remove that from the equation you might as well say the walkie talkie mod for TS3 is of the same ilk. Actually, it's a pretty cool mod for what it does. -
Go into more detail please. I haven't seen a cessation of sockets when I test TARS with 1.1.0.9 and it makes extensive use of Lua socket. Actually, if anyone...Speed, etc...wants to throw some *technical* information my way as to what is and isn't working then go for it. I'm a little confused at some of what I'm reading about Export stuff being broken because it doesn't jive with my observations.

WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration
Headspace replied to Headspace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Not exactly. ACRE adds content to ArmA by putting radios into the game (where there were no radios before, other than radio triggers). Since DCS already has clickable radios, TARS more or less "Teamspeak enables" those radios. -

Thanks, I'm pretty excited. This will tighten up the way sound is handled and open up development options considerably. I'll be releasing the first beta once internal testing is complete. -
WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration

Update: The new sound system is code complete and being integrated to the TARS TS RC1 version. -
I use it for video editing but it's supposedly a decent 3d tool if you are really adept at learning the technical and non user-friendly aspects of it.

No, not the next release. It's planned over the long term. It's possible to do but is more complicated so I'm not going to delay further release of the mod for that feature.

There will eventually be a way to adjust how much static your radio produces...that way people can tweak the function of TARS the way they like and not be locked into the default :)

WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration

Update: One of the new versions will experiment with allowing users to tweak the radio static and click volume, distortion levels and other tweaks. I have had a ton of people emailing me asking if they can adjust this themselves so I figured it would be worth adding in. Been working on the code for that today. -
Wake turbulence is a serious issue when you have smaller aircraft flying nearby larger aircraft, especially with airport operations. With something like a DCS there are features I would rather see implemented before this.

Laser Mavericks aren't included in the game, so Maverick employment has nothing to do with the laser. Just acquire it visually using the camera.

Sort of. Ed is the one who trains the monkeys.

The ATC is not a very close match to how it is in real life. It is simplified. Are you looking for a glossary of terms?

29.92hg @ 15c is a "standard day" in general aviation. You get that drilled into you and it will never leave you. The distinction between QFE and QNH (other than field elevation correction) is essentially the difference between pressure altitude and density altitude, where density altitude is pressure altitude corrected for nonstandard temperature. Why worry about density altitude? Simple, it drastically affects your performance. Not only engine performance, but aerodynamic performance as well. So knowing both is important.

MS Flight Simulator 5 was my first. F-19 was my second. I'm pretty happy there are a few people who had that game. Cobrabase had a shot of it in one of his YouTube movies so I know he had it too. Still looking for more people who played A-10 Cuba, there has to be more than just me and the few others I've seen on the board.

They completely changed the way it handles sound manipulation. It was far more than just a few tiny details. Client to client communication is more or less the same.

Oh yeah no problem. I appreciate everyone's patience, I know how many of you use this thing and enjoy it. -
WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration
Headspace replied to Headspace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Update: Still plenty going on lately, progress is being made. As you know Teamspeak has updated its software and that kind of threw a minor wrench into my plans. You're going to see a beta of the new TARS that has a partial implementation of the new radio effects for testing. I am streamlining the way some of the radio transmission code works in order to make it more compatible with a multiple radio environment the likes if which we will see with a Black Shark/A-10 merger. -

Still working on the conversion. Stay tuned guys and I appreciate your patience--there's been alot going on lately. Thanks (again) also to those who donated to the project through the site. I was able to fund some extra software to make the process go faster. -
It'll say "TARS: Not running" until you actually turn DCS on and go into a mission together. So try doing that--it'll work fine with Beta 36. Server version (of Teamspeak) doesn't matter. The new TARS will be out soon I've just been tweaking some things and then we'll start beta testing it.
