WIP DCS A-10C and Teamspeak 3 Integration
Headspace replied to Headspace's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
The latest beta is out and you can download it now. The control panel going forward is going to assume any DCS A-10C installation is compatible, so obviously if a new A-10C patch gets released that fundamentally changes things, you'll be at the forefront of testing that. But, this allows you to use the TARS CP immediately after a patch comes out. Have fun. -

Guys, Let me offer another reminder that the patch thing only affects the control panel and that you can continue to use TARS if you install it manually. If you patched, and had TARS installed, it is likely still there and usable. All of the instructions for a manual install are in the PDF that comes with the software. -
This issue hasn't occurred for me with the latest patch (1.1.0.6).

Isn't Moa working on a third party campaign generator? It's doable. Missions are lua scripts. If it weren't for TARS I'd be working on something like this for sure.

I am going to respond to the ED announcement that frequent patches with iterative changes are coming out by removing strict version checking from TARS so that you can continue to use TARS with each new patch. If incompatibilities are discovered, feel free to report. -

Apple: A couple of people have had this problem; what I would recommend is to check and make sure it doesn't show two TARS installations in your add/remove programs. If all else fails download the standalone package from http://www.excessiveheadspace.com/tars/distribution/TARS_1.0.0_b10a_standalone.zip unzip to anywhere and run the control panel from there. -

The normal TS3 mic key isn't muted. Nothing is done to stop you from using it. -

Did you run the uninstall of the previous version? Deleting it won't work, you need to run the uninstall from the windows control panel. -
I get the same issue. I'll try to get a Fraps of it by tomorrow. It is really putting a hamper on being able to take decent video, though. I am running a GTX275 so pretty close to what you have.

As promised, here is the update. The DLL and lua/luac files are exactly the same, but the control panel is updated and will search for the release version. -

You could also follow the manual install instructions in the TARS manual. It explains where all the files need to go. It doesn't appear that there is any fundamental change impacting TARS and how it works, but I am in the process of chasing down a few very minor bugs. -

That's almost certainly never going to happen WRT the KY-58. The truth of the matter is that TARS is already beyond the scope of what I'd originally intended for a free product, and has eaten up so much of my time already that it's going to require additional funding if new features are to be added--which means that I will need to revise the original goal of keeping it free. Encryption is way out of scope at this time, with all of my current development efforts being focused on converting out of the old sound system and onto a custom sound system (out of necessity, due to Teamspeak 3). -
I was going to do a training video on this, and it's relevant again now that a lot of the CCRP/CCIP inaccuracy has been fixed. But honestly? You need to get so close that it won't even reliably protect you from MANPADs. If you were in a supersonic, afterburner-equipped jet it would be different. The A-10 requires another set of tactics.

Awesome news. I will be vetting TARS with this release. If there are any incompatibilities then I will address it with a hotfix.

I confirm. Message is authentic.

Speed: Understand (of course) that there are a lot of features that can be implemented, but on a limited time and no budget, it's been a real challenge to get as far as TARS has come, in as short a timeframe. I would like to implement many suggestions, including yours. But, some will need to wait, particularly until after the TS3 RC conversion (which incidentally may resolve your friend's issue depending on what it is). If your friend sends his logs through the bug report form, I will at least be able to check to see what's going on. It's better than doing nothing. Also make sure he's running a compatible version of Teamspeak 3.

1. TARS does not have the capability to disable in-game sounds. There's no feature in the software that could do that. Something else is going on, perhaps specific to his machine. 2. The only way your issue will ever be addressed is by submitting a bug report on the official TARS website, following the instructions. Enabling lack of mute for people not running TARS would effectively undermine the radio simulation while in game. While I may explore this option in the future, right now the focus is on converting the software to work with Teamspeak's release candidate. In the meantime, please provide a detailed bug report with logs if you want the problem to be looked at. Thank you.

Sometimes they bounce off the ground and then land further out. It's normal.

There's a bug in DCS A-10 (as of betas 3 and 4) that affect the rightmost two radio knobs on the VHF FM and VHF AM radios. I posted a description of it in the private beta forum. The rightmost (hundredths) knob simply doesn't work properly, and the second to rightmost will "desync" if you turn it too quickly. That's probably what was going on. Otherwise all of the guard emergency channels can be manually tuned.

You would deactivate? In our moment of triumph? -
Most cost effective rudders
Headspace replied to Lonecrow66's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Who was it here that made rudder pedals out of two pieces of wood, a belt, and some other parts for $15? -
The only way you can get a conclusive answer to what might actually have been going on is to submit logs through the site. The beta generates detailed logs for a reason. Make sure they're contemporaneous--they get reset every TS3 restart. Does this recur frequently or was it a one-off?

That's how I did mine a few months back.

CPU usage, cores and what not.
Headspace replied to MadTommy's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
H to the usky Husky? Plenty of games are multithreaded. Even TARS is multithreaded (then again, it's not the hugest piece of software). Multithreaded programming is an order of magnitude more difficult in many cases due to all of the pitfalls involved, but it's not impossible. The key is that from the beginning, the design has to account for it, or there will be problems. Going from a single threaded design (for anything, really) and then, after you've written part of it, swapping into the multithreaded world and sharing resources can be very problematic. -

I have released a new beta, because Beta 9 had a critical issue affecting Black Shark players (and only Black Shark). Beta 10 fixes the issue. Please note that it is not compatible with Beta 9. Download it here.
