  1. Lucid, sounds like your friends have some insecurity issues. I personally enjoy going to the theatre alone. It's far more immersive, to put it in simmer terms. Of course going with friends has it's place, but I'd definately recommend flying solo. I didn't notice an X52 in Avatar though, what scene? It cracked me up to see Predators being piloted with a Saitek product; I wouldn't want my life depending on an X52!
  2. Yea, it's just a regular 3 position toggle that turns on landing or taxi lights.
  3. Yep, trimming related. As it turns out, the pinky switch on my x52 is a bit finicky and was releasing trim with the button still held down. Thanks for the help guys!
  4. The real switch top doesn't light up, they're just reflective jewels. The AVS replica is a plastic casting with the parts where the jewels would be painted white.
  5. Ohh, because of the new trimmer system? I see what you mean. I usually center the cyclic, but I'm still getting used to the pedals and forget about those sometimes. I'll give it a try guys, thanks.
  6. I am using an X52 Pro, and the cyclic randomly stops responding to movement. The Joystick isn't losing connection entirely though, everything still works except pitch and bank. Sometimes I can get it to work again before I crash, but most times not. :( I think this started when I got Saitek pedals, which would make sense because they seem to use axes with identical names. Any ideas on how to remedy this? Anyone using a similar setup? Oh, I guess I should have saved a track, I'll try to upload one. Windows 7 64bit AMD64 X2 6000+ 8800GT 4GB RAM
  7. So you're saying they just added a NVG label to the new panel to distinguish it from the older, noncompatible ones? Makes sense I guess...
  8. Thanks Deads, hadn't noticed that! It looks like you used the right switch to me, I can't think of a reason any of the positions would be momentary. I think I noticed that the oxygen regulator panel has a new NVIS label to the right of the ON/OFF switch, though I have no idea why... Surely you don't need different oxygen levels when using night vision! :)
  9. That is correct DTWD, if you open up any of the cockpits in the editor you will see that it's mostly like a cardboard cut out- if you move the camera in any direction other than those visible to the player, holes appear all over the place.
  10. No no, of course not. My comment was similarily meant in jest. Hogwarts, I like that... :)
  11. lol... It's going to be a great moment when A-10C comes out and all of this shark driver trash talk comes to a screeching halt...
  12. Ohh, I know the document you're talking about Gus. I found it ages ago, I'll see if it's still buried deep in the HD somewhere. ;)
  13. Hmm... I just realized why they design the stick base like that. The base is flat so that you can sit on it and fly with the stick between your legs (err...) as in the A-10! Brilliant design! Trying to fly with the X52 like that was impossible. I just hope they got the stick angle correct. It makes me wonder though... where do you plug this beauty in??
  14. Memento: there's a solution to everything, it just comes down to how much you're willing to put in to reach it.
  15. There aren't exactly blueprints of the A-10 cockpit floating around the internet, but I found this... ...here: http://www.strandedduckling.com/html/frame.html I have no idea who this "BigB" guy is or where he got those dimensions, but I can tell you that they're pretty close.
  16. I think he means the ministick? I think it is possible, but I don't really remember how.
  17. The throttles are different, but close enough for that to be a cool add-on. However, I really doubt TM will invest in a new product without a new F-15/18 sim to pair it with... pretty please, ED? I'd say that's a stretch... the A-10 does have a pinkie switch of sorts: the SAS/disconnect lever. It's that big yellow thing on the control column. I'd say they were thinking that adding a pinky switch instead of a huge stick base/ and lever was the best compromise between accuracy and practicality.
  18. That is the control panel for the new AN/ARC-210 secure voice radio stack. I asked Wags about it and was told this would not be implemented- at least not in the first release. With a cost in the billion range, they are in short supply and are not in every A-10 anyway. By the way, do these shots look like they have dynamics shadows to anyone else??
  19. There aren't many A-10 books, because it really didn't get to prove itself until Desert Storm. The one you're reading is an excellent book, but it isn't representative of current Hogs. All of the (minor) shortcomings with the A model have been fixed and then some. The A-10C is truly a harbinger of doom. :)
  20. Very nice! I'm building an F/A-18F model right now, actually. Err... of the plastic and paint variety, as opposed to that beautiful mesh there.
  21. I thought it was just a flashy mouse cursor... and I didn't really like it.
  22. Call me crazy, but I strongly suspect the throttle of having gated detents...
  23. Oh, I see... never run into that problem myself, but good to know. Like I said, I've never used CH products. Personally, I think they're overpriced, but clearly plenty of people disagree.
  24. Again, a simple job of axis assignment.
