  1. You may already know, but VSN have done a Gripen :)
  2. Same methodology as the M2000 I think for CCRP, say start at 10,000 feet, zoom in and mark your target, then drop low and get the desired speed and altitude, fly to the Release point path, flare and roll out. There's another mode possible now too with last update, the LOFT method.
  3. For CCIP dives think it's more like a 20-30 pitch dive to make sure the little cross is at the bottom of the bombing line. The cross you see on your hud is because, if you look at your first attached screenshot, just above the 10 degrees line, there are 2 brackets either side of your predicted flight marker. If you dip below that bracket, the computer is telling you it maybe unsafe to release bombs at that point, as the blast or shrapnel may strike the hornet. I think for a retarded bomb approach though, contradictory to what I said above, a video I saw said best approach was at like 500knts and 500feet. Bombs should be dropped at above 450knts Try having a look at videos on youtube from the Grim Reapers or RedKite channels.
  4. I have heard this too, on the spit and yak, it's subtle but noticeable! Not sure if it's meant to simulate the engine sound from afar, movement of air or whatnot
  5. It's my favourite go to jet, it's just so smooth to fly, great agility and just fun. And, albeit simple A2G modes either CCIP or CCRP, it can still be an effective platform for ground targets. We tested on a multiplayer server, and the GBU's will actually see a laser from the Harrier on code 1168, so buddy lasing is possible it seems. Install WatermanPC's dynamic sound mod from the library and it just makes it one of the best modules.
  6. Somehting strange, is happening to my install at the minute. Using auto start up procedure, even when I turn on the RWR - middle position, and radar has warmed up. The DA symbol just keeps flashing and RWR is not showing any information at all. It seemed to work first time round, but after a respawn. It seemed broke at this point. Has anyone else had any issues? Running .114 open Beta and repaired after the update 6 was released last Friday. I will try again to see if I get the issue again. I am using watermanpc's excellent sound mod for the M2K.
  7. This covers the Marshal pattern and the priorities
  8. Well the upcoming F14, by the looks of it will be scripted as two crew/ AI being the secondman. So, it seems a plausible. Be good for Caucasus, low level hit and run attacks and carrier born ops. So, more scope of operations over the lightning - if anything I'd prefer the Jaguar over the lightning.
  9. I use the X-52 as my first HOTAS and it does me rather well I must say!! apart from an annoying squeak of the plastic rubbing on the base. I tried previously using an Xbox pad with the A-10C - it just didn't work haha. For a rather decent yet inexpensive HOTAS, the X52 is a good entry option.
  10. Ah ok, I remember seeing a video before of the AV8B in uncaging/caging the hud in boresight. From what I could see, it allowed you to move the nose away from target when uncaged, and keep lock. Maybe I have the wrong idea about the purpose caging and uncaging.
  11. Do you think that Caging/Uncaging the HUD would make a difference with that?
  12. I think the Buccaneer would be a nicer choice for DCS :)
  13. I have the AV8B and the M2K. At first, I thought it wasn't working, but The Mirage it definitely does, and as regards the harrier, I am not sure about AA threats. But, in a training server with friends, we've got a few TOR's setup at an airfield, and I got all the beeps from popping up, being locked and also altered to a missile launch. One thing I did make sure, to the right of the MFD, the volume switch for the RWR audio, I turn it up to max. Yet to test to see if it is AA locks that are missing/ having issues with.
  14. That or the F15E eventually haha
  15. Same here, many of times I've touched down at 130 or 40 knts no issues
  16. Maybe others can share their experience too. But in a VTOL loadout (empty) I seem to struggle to get it to hover, even in some scenarios I'm at full power 90-100% RPM, but she still wants to drop. Nozzles tend to be around 80 degrees. Makes landing rather tricky.
  17. Having treated myself to a HOTAS for my birthday a month ago, I decided try DCS properly. As my only module for a long time was the A-10C. That on an xbox pad was no fun. So, first thing I did was buy the mirage. It's beautiful to fly, very agile. With good capabilities of AA and AG. Mostly, Very straightforward to operate systems wise, as mentioned it is an older aircraft so no DDI's or digital maps. Quite easy and accessible modes with a good HOTAS key setup, and it is a joy to fly and personally it needs hardly any trimming at all, I love to just watch it from the F3 view and do high G turns (But that's my delta wing love). Also, there's a great sound mod in the user files section. On the other hand, the F18 is also a joy as it's very easy to fly agility wise and forgiving, slightly more complex systems but still such a fun aircraft, and doesn't take too long to master. As also said by others it's early access so modules are still being added - for instance, currently there's no guided AG weapons. But again still a joy to fly as the Mirage, so for me it comes down to personal preference I love both aircraft designs. I think someone else already mentioned, added bonus with the F-18 there's the opportunity for Carrier Ops.
  18. Grim reapers on youtube have done some dogfight videos, and they seem to reckon 350-400knots as best turn rate.
  19. Not sure if that was to myself or the OP. But indeed training Mavs won't leave the rails.
  20. Well with any luck with the South Atlantic map being on the way, we may get both variants of the M2000 at the time and a sea harrier. On their FB page they did tease a photo of a harrier on a carrier with an Austin Allegro in the foreground super imposed. A vague hint to a SHAR, or that HMS Victorious will be in the asset pack? To the OP, I bought harrier a couple weeks ago, it has been an immensely enjoyable thing to fly! The core systems and functions are there. VTOL, STOL, drop guided and unguided bombs in both CCIP and CCRP, the anti radar missles and a capable AA mode. Mavericks also function. And it's great to fly herself, dodging through the valleys on Caucasus pretending it's the Mach loop haha.
  21. Hello, similar situation myself. Some clarification would be great. Followed Red kite's excellent videos for a few different things as well as the Grim Reapers. Currently, these are making me grind my teeth. Chances are it's user error. But I am struggling to get the DMT and MAV's to communicate, I have the E variant loaded. The steps I take, -Activate the DMT pick area target - Uncage the maverick, it is looking in the same area as the dmt, Sens select forward to arm the "IRMV" - Then no lock or such seems to happen, tried pressing TDC action too (depress). Just doesn't fire at all! Yet do it on the mav directly, it will lock and fire no issue.
