I can do just fine tracking targets as a RIO when I’m around the same altitude as the bandits I’m chasing. Tonight I was at angels 30 and the bandits I was trying to track were at angles 13 per the data link 40 miles away and I couldn’t for the life of me get them on my radar scope. I tried all the radar modes and lowered the antennae some and I still couldn’t find the bandits we got shot down by a SAM When I was about 15 miles away from the bandits but I have always found it hard to find targets that are below me. Well what I’m saying is snow plow mode would work for the TGP but it wouldn’t bring the HUD targeting box onto my hud until I got above a certain altitude. We all know the HUD targeting box is locked to your current steerpoint but entering snow plow mode enables you to move the hud box around. It doesn’t work every time and I don’t know if it’s because it’s buggy or there are certain things I’m not doing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you have to be at a certain altitude for the snowplow mode to move the target designator box to wherever you are facing? I was using snow plow earlier and couldn’t get it work and all of a sudden I got higher than 5000 feet hit the snowplow mode button and the hud targeting box appeared on my hud and was slewable after I initiated an area track. I believe so. I would have a target designated and say I wanted to skew away from it after a certain point no matter what input I gave the lantirn it would pull back towards the designated target Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have only tried to Use the Lantirn as a rio one time. I have everything mapped according to the chucks guide for the lantirn. I can’t remember if I started an area track or designated a system target but for whatever reason I would designate a target I would skew around with the lantirn but at times no matter the input I gave the lantirn it would continue to skew in a different direction. Say I was trying to raise the lantirn it would continue to go backwards or to the side. Is there a reason for that? Do I need to be in snowplow mode to move the lantirn anywhere I want? TGP Snowplow mode help I’ve gotten SP mode figured out for the most part in terms of using it to slew around the hud targeting box so I can do CCRP attacks. Sometimes though for whatever reason it freezes and it won’t work. Not all the time maybe like 30 percent of the time. I always use the same hot jet with the same steerpoints. I don’t think I’m doing something or not doing something it just doesn’t work every time. Is it buggy because it’s in early access or are there things that will stop the hud targeting box from appear on my hud when I enter snowplow mode if I’m not facing a steerpoint? Sometimes it even seems like if I pitch the aircraft up more it will make it work. Thanks for the help! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
