I am aware of DLAA. I don't want DLAA ON. I want it OFF. With DLSS it is ON and cannot be disabled. To me DCS looks better without any kind of anti-aliasing. It plays better, looks crisper, and ground targets are 'easier'(still difficult ) to spot. I use neutral 2 dot option. Red and blue pixels feels to much of a cheat. Without a darker neutral dot, ground targets are downright way too difficult to spot.

I go by result. I see obvious visual degradation. Scene blurring, JPG like artifacts. Weird blockiness and tearing on distance clouds and terrain. Blurry instrument marking, requiring zoom in to read. When I set DLSS to Performance or Ultra Performance. I don't really see FPS improvement by noticeable amount. Going by my worst performing module , which is AH-64D. My best FPS mods are AV-8B and Mirage 2000C. In neither do I see visually noticeable FPS gains. I see a little bit by diagnostic overlay. Visual degradation is not worth it, so I leave DLSS and anti-aliasing OFF.

IMHO DLSS is unsuitable for high fidelity flight sims, aka DLSS kind of s_____ DLSS, in DCS, with 3070Ti makes everything looks blurry, kind of blocky , at pixel level, and reduces overall vision fidelity. Especcialy with regard to ground target spotting. Clouds and mountains in distance look like they have visible JPG artifacting. HUD looks 'weird' Perhaps, DLSS , is good for AAA 3rd and 1st person shooters, and perhaps sports, but not for flight sims. Most definitely not DCS. I would set DLSS to Performance or Ultra Performance. I don't really get FPS boost, if I just leave it off. I am not putting this on ED. I see similar issues, even worse, with X-Plane.

Mystery of DCS stock ATC crickets
DmitriKozlowsky replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in General Bugs
Carrier deck spotting operations are far more complex then airfield. PseudoAI can lock airfield taxi and parking and only have one solution. But carrier deck spotting is a science in itself, depending on mission, and phase of mission on carrier. Launch stations, recovery stations, QRA-Ready 5 launch stations. In RL there is a team of officers and ratings , below decks, moving aircraft chess peices on flight deck and hangar deck chessboard. DCS solves conflicts by making aircraft appear or disappear by magic. For airfield operations, DCS needs two base items. IMHO. Ground tower communications. To issue taxi instructions. With helicopter specific sub-set. Helicopters don't need to taxi to runway. Just designated H pads . Active ground personell and field suppourt vehicles. To issue guides as to which spot to taxi into and face which direction. -
Mystery of DCS stock ATC crickets
DmitriKozlowsky replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in General Bugs
There also has to be better taxiway markings and ground tower taxi instructions. "Taxi to runway" or "Taxi to parking" is insuffcient. Taxi instructions come with directions as to which taxiway to use, and which direction to take. Taxiways are 'generally' one way streets. I dunno maybe ED should consider making 'Advanced field operations and Air Traffic' an inexpensive add on mod, like Combined Arms. Example. " 'Callsign', Welcome to'airfield', taxi via L right on C, to spot ###" -
Nvidia claimes that Game Ready 572.70 solves Black Screen

I guess some of us are fortunate sons. -
Ever since DCS was a thing, a constant problem has stayed with me. ATC crickets. It is almost impossible to taxi without runway incursions or landing without clearence. I get taxi to runway instructions, or 'Contact tower for landing clearance". I then contact ATC for T/O clearance while at rwy threshhold, or landing clearance on final. Then crickets. ATC is silent. Waiting for 5 to 10 minutes, 15 at most, nothing. Then do a runway oncursion for T/O and ATC comes alive, telling me "Can't clear takeoff". What is the secret?

Ka-50, Mi-8, Mi-24 removed from Russian ED store??

Un-Hind-ly act. Just Kamov on top of other bad news. -

99% certain that this is Russia, Russia, Russia, gerring back at ED for allowing USAF and Ukranian Air Force to use DCS: A-10CII and F-16C mods for desktop training of Ukranian aviators. USAF uses Prepare3D to train Ukranians on F-16C in full motion simulators, and DCS for desktop traning of tactics and planning. -
I don't want to get ahead of myself. Untill I can do it 5X in a row, under varying weather, night, and stores, I really can't claim success. I am still not really able to stay connected. I stretch the hose (gigitty), which disconnects. Try as I may, to have that small amolunt of sag in connected hose, while connected, is a witch with capital B. Yes, re-re-rewatching Stealth (2005) scene where EDI plugs into basketless hose, flundering in the wind, is a CGI joke! That really is not possible. Even for a Q-CPU AI pilot. Watching Brazilian Air Force AMX on YT, and seeing the basket getting ripped, or hose pulled out of pod, does not fill me with confidence. AMX is one of those minor types I would not mind in DCS from 3rd party. Its low tech and old enough to e completely declassified, so the flight model and systems can be DCS level. I dunno if DCS suppourts hose getting ripped out. But think about this. Lets say four ship joins up on KC-130 or another drogue tanker. One of the pods is INOP. The first guy plugs in. Connect goes south, and basket gets ripped off, or whole hose gets relased. What then for the flight? Now the whole flight can't get from tha ttanker. How popular is that guy conna be?

So somehow I managed to pull off good AAR with AV-8B and KC-130. THis is a end to end mission. From cold start, rendeivous, join, observe pos, pre-contact, contact, breakaway, re-contact, take gas, clear tanker, some AG gunnery, recover. X-wind landing on Nellis 21L could have been better Noticed that despite setting tanker TACAN at 33X, then tuning to it in A:A TCN mode, 33X ON, that tanker TCN symbol did not appear on left MFD. Otherwise no drama. I used that day's METAR data from METAR-TAF to set up weather at Nellis. In browser just type METAR Las Vegas or METAR Nellis. TRK has civlian and military traffic, and uses Civilian Aircraft mod for ambient air traffic. Lessons learned. KC-130 is awfully sensitive to closure rate on basket, and will "Breakaway" call. Just "Ready Pre-Contact" and continue . Real world planning requires joining tanker at 500 feet below , behind, and 500 to side of tanker altitude/pos. Well according to the former F-15E pilot with bushy mustache on YouTUbe. Who now flies A320 ATP. AV_8B_goodAAR.trk

I have not destroyed the tanker by overspeeding. If you are seeing that in replay, then replay is lying to you. Which is actually normal for replay. A known fail of DCS. Unles your DCS is identical to mine, its possible for TRK to give you false replay. I wish we could treat TRK as black box, but we can't. Short of making YouTUbe videos out of trackfiles, which is too much hassle, TRK is all we got.

Right, placing the center top of HUD glass between refueling pod and engine naccell with top of glass lined up along bottom of imaginary line between bottom of pod and bottom of naccelle. With view looking ahead, probe not in view. It gets me 'close', but it has never ever worked. Often it misses, nothing happens, or tKC-130 tells me "breakaway. On replayes,I see the basket going right through the probe. makes no sense.

Here I am getting connected, taking fuel for a second, then tanker disconnects. Then I reconnect, then it disconnects. Then probe is inside the pit. I don't get why I am overtaking tanker by a knot or less, when my throttle is pulled back. Drag should push me back, overcoming momentum. Fine speed control is a curse for me. I am puzzled why for a given speed, air condition, drag, there is no perfect throttle position. Either too fast, or too slow. Once connected, wouldn't the boom basically tow my aircraft. If I am a knot or less faster, the boom should push back locking me in place. Like I said , the fine control, to fidelity needed, is not available to me. Now the 'trick' is to concentrate on placing tanker's outboard engines, just outside front canopy frame, half way down above HUD frame. Keep it there. Not to concentrate on boom. But if that breaks down, if I am just just so slightly too fast , probe ends up inside pit. Like boom operator AI sucks at its job. It can't all be the A-10 pilot. There needs to be a visual aid to align to. A10CII_failedInflightRefuel_take5.trk

This is the sight picture , in AV-8B , I need to have to see probe and basket. Becouse it is zoomed out and head turned, heavy distortion is imposed. This distortion makes it nearly impossible, to judge distance of probe to basket. The AV-8B pre-contact position is center top of HUD glass between refueling pod and prop naccelle. The pre-contact position in A-10C, with tanker outboard engines center height of canopy frame above HUD frame, obscures the tanker behind canopy bow. I can't see the tanker, and am unable to judge my postion relative to pre-contact position. Most of the time, that sight picture places boom probe behind my canopy. Becouse boom is being lowered and extended, I am unable to use it as fixed point of reference. Lack of peripheral vision and tactile feel, make AAR in DCS so difficult as to be nearly impossible for me. Which is same as impossible. As there are no visual ques, I have no pathway to correct my performance.

".., so make sure you have mapped the receptible reset switch to your HOTAS," OK, but there is no such HOTAS "receptible reset switch" available in Controls. Pinky switch center is suppoused to do that, but does not work. Neither is Aerial Refueling Slip Way Door Lever available. I have to use mouse to manually close and open door. Doing so throws me off the tanker.

Mirage , Hornet, and AV-8B. FC (Mig-29 and SU-27) I have given up on AAR in Harrier from KC-130 that comes with Harried mod.Without VR (or so I have been told) it is , in fact , impossible, becouse the probe is offset to the side, and is not visible unless view is zoomed out and head turned, in such a way that distortion makes depth gaging of probe and basket impossible. So proble will never go in. Like in A-10C, in Harrier, I find myself with basket and hose inside the pit, going through the aircraft. Haven't trained myself on ither Mirage or Hornet for AAR. The prepiheral vision, required for Harrier is absent in non-VR 2D view and heavily distorted when zoomed out. Boom method is suppoused to be easier. Holding A-10CII steady relative to tanker. Well how steady? How? Director lights , on tanker belly, are not apparent. From 2D pit view they are just a white strip. In replay when zoomed in tanker and camera positioned in F2 view, below the tanker, yellow and red director lights are visible. From cockpit of A-10, director ligt strip is a constant white strip. When I did make contact, my aircraft pushed the probe into the housing and it disconnected. Boom is suppoused to stabilize the receiving aircraft and keep it in place. Here, a slightest deviation, is a disconnect. Or worse, the probe is inside the cockpit. The probe inside pit, inside pilot, inside nose, is an error on part of ED. Boom operator retracts and extends probe as needed. Boom probe is flown into receptacle, not receptacle into probe.
