Here is YT vid by Wags On hover hold modes. At About 2:46 he brings up 'BOBUP' or whatever it called. WTH IS IT? Where is it? What is called in commands. I have been looking for it, and looking for it, and I can't find it. Is it gone? I feel dumb, and stupid.

Got it. Gun not WAS'ed. Thought it was.
-
Well I feel silly. I am in CPG Weapon selected. GUN. Burst: 20 TADS ON Master Arm : ON Yet when I attempt to fire gun or rockets , when selected, I get "WEAPON?" What is the switchology error here?

Flying a mission entire as CPG.
DmitriKozlowsky replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in Bugs and Problems
I see. What I want is currently not implemented. Being able to fly from cold dark to landing and shut down entirely from CPG station as single offline player. Gotta switch back and forth. -
So after getting sufficiently competent, for my needs, in flying and fighting AH-64D as pilot with CPG AIGeorge. Time to train as CPG. Flying a mission entire as CPG. No back seat entry Problems #1 Pilot George does not start engines. Must be forced through AutoStart. #2 Auto Startup from CPG Station. Pilot George never completes the start up. #3 Insufficient communication options. That I am aware of using CPG station George AI. Ex. No "Start up", "No Shut Down"/ Or Message from Pilot George "Starting" After 5-7 minutes of waiting I terminated mission. Basic question, at start of mission, in cold dark AH-64D CPG is "OK now how do we get going?" or "What am I supposed to do now?" PilotGeorge_doesnotstart.trk

I do not think log files have anything usefull, as there is no crash, no memory error. Even playing back TRK files, the black screens ay or may not occur. Its random. Or appears to be, Its not reproducible, other then they keep happening.

Many users report black screen timeouts. With many other. I only have DCS. I used ot have X-Plane but delete it, as X-Plane FPS are too low for graphics fidelity offered. I managed to get a personal legal (but creatively bypassed restriction requirements) of Prepare3D which is based on MSFS. But Lockheed got wise, and yanked my Prepare3D desktop faster then F-35 DAS goes out of alignment. Other 3D apps are DCC (Houdini , Maya, Mari, NUKE). I only get black screen timeouts under DCS. I tried all sorts of back drivers, Game Ready drivers, Studio drivers. Currently on 572.83 Studio, just switched from 572.83 Game Ready. Went though more setting adjustments in DCS. Nothing, nothing helps. Eventually black screens and black flickering comes back. It is a curse that ED and Nvidia have been unable to address. As black screen is not a crash, not a freeze, there is no log file. As it happens in all theaters, in all mods, with or without add ons, its not a mod. Its DCS and Nvidia. I went down from my monitors' 144hz native refresh rate to 100 then to 60. Nothing helps. I do not think there is an answer or solution that is attainable at user level .

Motion blur is not. Or its one of the culprits. I have no motion blur, no DLSS, no anti-aliasing. I get constant frequent black screen time outs of 4 to 5 seconds. Often during critical flight phases. I don't know what the issue is. Driver, DCS, drive-DCS interaction. Whatever it is. There is no viable solution. You are deluding yourself if you think you can find it. As issue is deep inside NVIDIA and DCS perhaps DirectX. Who knows? But claiming that its one particular setting is foolish.

Deck Crew AI directing me on to blocked cat. I thought it was me doing something wrong. Turns out it the new deck crew AI is quite literally blind and dumb. It is directing me onto blocked catapult. When I advance onto available cat, deck crew AI goes dumb and stupid, and just shuts down. It waits for me to taxi onto blocked cat. Where it would launch me through the parked aircraft. Will we ever get realistic physics for carrier landings?
DmitriKozlowsky replied to obious's topic in Wish List
In flight engagement causes front gear to hit first, and it folds. The main gear may or may not fold. I don't have F-14. I got F-18C and A-4EC community mod. In Hornet hard trap results in main gear bent. A-4EC is way too forgiving, so if I trap, I never had a gear collapse. In A-4EC I bolter 70% of the time. So I am not really good with it. So I suspect that A-4EC main gear model is over-strong. In flight hook engagement happen, according to YouTUbe Navy videos from 1960's, due to high AOA, resulting in low hook to ramp clearance. I guess what Navy wants is for gear and hook to hit the deck at same time. With aircraft dragging the hook across deck to wire capture. -
I always cold start. But I'll check hot start. I doubt there would be any difference. But one never knows. My GPU ram is maxed and GPU util in DCS is between 85% - 98%. CPU load , is about 60% spread across 8 threads. Thus far I find that 8gb of GPU Vram is sufficient for DCS. My terrain textures are High, visibility to Low. Switching to Terrain texture to Low has no measurable hit on my FPS. I've been through this many times. I am always looking for tweaks. Its the AH-64D combined with South Atlantic. I do see high FPS hit in every theater when IHAADS is in IR night mode. That is a single most expensive item in Apache. Far second is TADS video. For one reason or another. AH-64D , on my rig, has best performance in Marianas. Followed by NTTR. Syria/Cyprus has almost same FPS as NTTR with Apache. ED has to look at IHAADS at night. RAZBAM has to look at South Atlantic. But I lean towards ED as culprit, as AV-8B and A-10CII in Falklands has high FPS. No complaints. The Devil's Duo is AH-64D and Falklands.
-
AH-64D is my poorest performing mod. As far as FPS goes. Its also one most susceptible to black screen black out. This is magnified when I fly in Falklands out of Mt. Pleasant. I fly in 2D 2560X1440@144 refresh. Visibility is Low. GPU is 3070Ti FE. 64gb ram. CPU is XEON. OS win Win 10 Pro 64. In NTTR, Marianas, and in Syria I average 90 to above 100, rarely above 110 FPS with AH-64D. FPS drops, in all theaters, if TADS in on MFD. FPS further drops if IHAADS is IR ON. NVG do not appear to effect FPS. In Falklands out of Mt. Pleasant with TADS on left MFD, IHAADS in night mode, at NOE height, I drop down to 20 FPS, and almost never above 40. Is this fault of Apache mod, or South Atlantic map, or both? My fixed wing FPS in Marianas, Syria with A-10CII, AV-8B, Mirage is between 120 and 150, rising to 180 at high altitudes. My rotary FPS in those theaters with KA-50III, OH-6A mod, Gazelle, and UH-60L mod are all above 120, Gazelle is 130 averaged. The slow child is the AH-64D. In South Atlantic, the Apache is really a low performer.

There is also special element called a cell. Applies to tankers. Tankers operate in a cell of two ships. During strategic airborne patrol, KC cell would refuel B-52 or B-1B or earlier B-47. With SR-71 and U-2R(or earlier) two tanker cells were used. Both SR-71 and U-2 used special fuel, for each, that was not compatible with normal JP4 used by 'normal' USAF jets. So one tanker would refuel the other. With one tanker carrying special fuel , the other normal JP4. Navy jets use naval formulation of JP4, not normally used by Air Force. So again one tanker would carry Navy JP4B, and itself be refueled from its buddy carrying USAF JP4. USAF SAC, TAC, MATS, and Navy worked together back in 1950's to develop doctrine and tactics for in-flight refueling. Its a science in itself. According to Col. Rich Graham (USAF Ret.) former CO of 9th Recon Wing and 9th Recon. Sqd. who flew both SR-71A and U-2R, in-flight refueling was #1 issue that washed candidates out of either SR-71 or U-2 program. Getting the rendezvous, contact, and staying on tanker, was really taxing. Especially at night and bad weather. To make it worse. There would be double tanker cells. SR-71 would take 1/2 load from one, then connect to other for rest. Then that tanker cell, itself would refuel from adjoining cell just to refuel the tankers. They needed to keep SR-71 tankers light, so the refueling could be done at faster airspeed and at higher altitude. SR-71 had trouble staying on tanker at normal tanking speeds. U-2R was opposite. It needed to fuel at higher altitude and lower speeds. So the U-2 tankers had to climb to the altitude. Heavy pregnant tanker full of gas could not do that. Mission planning must have been a bitch. It was one of the items that made SR-71 and U-2R so costly to operate. A mission could burn through same amount of fuel as whole F-4D squadron in week over Vietnam. Thank G*d for satellites.

Yes. In US Armed Forces those are called Composite Squadrons. Ratchet up one level and its an Expeditionary Wing. Air Task Force sometimes. At Flight of 4 aircraft, lead by a senior captain or major (for heavier types) its called Mixed Flight.
-
Mixed type flight There is nothing improper with having any other type of aircraft being a wingman or section lead. Player F-18C with F-16C wingman. AH-64D player with wingman 1 AH-64D and OH-58D as wingman #2. One reason for this request is that player cannot communicate with escort.

Deck crew stupid on Wheel Chocks
DmitriKozlowsky replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in Bugs and Problems
So, if player errors, and misses a step in sequence, and deck crew stops responding to Salute!. What is the remedial action to take. Short of ending mission. Does the player then turn the aircraft around on our own initiative? Come around and try again? Seems that once the crew is confused frozen, there is no corrective remedy. -
Deck crew stupid on Wheel Chocks
DmitriKozlowsky replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in Bugs and Problems
I suspect that I spread the wings before advancing onto the cat. I think that the AI crew has to signal me to spread wings. If I do something Ai crew has not signaled me to do, it gets stuck and confused. -
Deck crew stupid on Wheel Chocks
DmitriKozlowsky replied to DmitriKozlowsky's topic in Bugs and Problems
OK I got passed the chocks. Start Engines Salute. Which acts as signal to pull chocks. New problem. After taxing to Cat 1. I am stuck, as crew won't hook me up. I request launch. But that did not work. I saluted. Which I thought was reserved for actual cat shot. So I guess there is new more complex sequencing that I do know. What am I missing? The images show me at cat. Just behind shuttle. I get no responce. No instructions. No assistance. No hand signals. Second image shows me advanced to slightly in front of shuttle. Still nothing. There has to be some kind of active assistance from deck crew. Hand signals. Something. We had it before. These updates have introduced new event sequence. -

Deck crew stupid on Wheel Chocks

Nope! Does not work. Not the solution. -
Me: "Chief remove the wheel chocks" CVN-75 Deck Crew chief "Unable to comply Air Source Not Connected" ED, you have confused the deck crew. They are no longer squared away squids. I am stuck on flight deck
