  1. Certainly putting all the people working on other projects ...cough FC2 cough... could have sped up the process cause from December 2008 (or March 2009 depending on the version) to February 2011 it was way more than 9 months. Saying these people would not have helped at all for an earlier release is not serious, yes maybe not as far as 9 months but certainly would have helped released it earlier than it was actually released. So FC2 development slowed down A-10C even if you don't want to admit it :)
  2. lol don't make me go to the archives and interviews... "next module 9 months after Black Shark's release"? Anyone?
  3. IIRC the "parallel" development of FC2 led to DCS A-10C delay, even though it was supposed to be "parallel" :) Well some things make more money than others, to put it that way which one do you think would make more money DCS: F-16 or DCS: Crop-duster? You'd say the DCS Fighter is already in development but after it I'd prefer to see DCS Apache or DCS Cobra or DCS "Whatever modern helicopter or plane" instead of a crop-duster, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this. All of these ^^ eventual DCS modules would make more money.
  4. Still don't get what does "The Fighter Collection Simulation Engine" has to do with propellers. In here http://www.thebattlesim.com it says it is integrated in Lock on. Damned crop-dusters... Why lose time and resources for one of them instead of investing them into DCS Fighter? When you draw the line which one will be sold more? Yeah that's right :) I mean just look at that in the TFC site: http://fighter-collection.com/pages/aircraft/nimrod/index.php no doubt it has its fans but come on are you really gonna buy and play DCS Crop-duster?
  5. Definitely :D I don't even know what TFC is :P
  6. I doubt ED would be doing propellers so suddenly, it looks more plausible to me that the flying legend would be a jet fighter/fighters. I expect it to include 2 fighters, the second one probably coming later with an add-on. So if I have to guess it would be F-4 and Mig-21.
  7. ok, I trust you that he does. I take it he had a bad day then.
  8. Please don't put words in my mouth. It was a discussion in which I presented my arguments, and you yours. It would be fine with me if you don't have or don't want to say anything more on the subject but please don't do that in such a condescending manner. I've treated you with respect so far and find the assessment of my believes and the "advice" in your last post rather distasteful.
  9. This is also not a valid point since in Afghanistan and in Iraq during the peace keeping operations the enemy has infantry with no vehicle support (in the huge number of encounters) so the radar is of no use. You can be sure that if the Apaches are needed in a conflict facing an opponent that is widely using tanks and other types of armored vehicles the Longbow radars won't be left at home.
  10. I'd prefer to sacrifice a hardpoint which would allow me all weather capabilities and through-the clouds target detection and attack. I might not always have the luxury of grounding the aircraft in hope for a suitable weather because they cannot operate effectively in the given conditions. Precisely. The AH-64D was designed, and it is based on A which was not designed that way. Just like A-10A and C are not designed that way and a specific version could be designed to use a radar. That comparison with the Typhoon's radar is unnecessary, A-10 won't need hundreds of km detection range. An AN/APG-78 sized radar will do fine.
  11. I'll put it next to the targeting pod for Christ's sake. Thank God they thought differently when they were making the A-10C or we would have gotten DCS A-10A instead. And when was the Apache designed to have one?
  12. Putting it in the nose is obviously not an option but I gave you the example of the targeting pod position, Apache's radar is not in the nose either. Now on the "it doesn't need" part, following that logic the A-10A also is doing CAS and it doesn't "need" the Litening II TGP to do it but with it it can do it much better right? The same goes for Apache A and D, and the F-15E which is also used for CAS, and in addition to the targeting pod it is using its radar. So it is not a question of need but a question of improving its capabilities. Whether someone will pay or not for such an upgrade is a different story especially in the current economic situation. Well TOR or Tunguska or Pantsir etc. etc. don't need nor care about your Gau-8 :D
  13. They put a targeting pod that's bigger than the Longbow radar on it so I don't see how a similar sized radar can't be attached to the Hog. The Apache is also providing CAS yet it benefits greatly from a radar.
  14. I wonder why didn't they think of implementing a radar on the A-10, Apache Longbow has one, F-15E has one yet the Hog relies only on optical sensors, as a result it is heavily reliant on perfect visibility to be effective.
  15. I found some very nice photos of the photographer Dmitri Zherdin at airliners.net, you might want to check them out here http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?photographersearch=Dmitry%20Zherdin&distinct_entry=true Several exemplary links: Ka-50 Mi-28N Yak-130 Su-30MK2 F-15E ^^ This F-15E is going to my desktop :)
  16.
  17. ^^ nice photos, the eagle is gorgeous :)
  18. Aspide 2000 Aspide 2000 Aster SAMPT Exocet OTOMAT/TESEO
  19. Original, but which one is the "Barbarian" republic? :D And the aircraft? Mirage and Rafale? The tail on the fifth screen looks like it belongs to the Rafale while the aircraft on the 9th screenshot looks like Mirage.
  20. ^^ Awesome! Thanks for posting!
  21. Any info on these upgrades? I'm particularly curious about the Eagle, what goodies are planned for it?
  22. what can be turned off in there without having a big impact on graphics quality? Tweaks (not drastic) so far include: - 1366 x 768 This low res should help achieve higher FPS (in theory) - graphics set to medium (I ain't playing this sim on low) - tree shadow off, low or medium water quality, no HDR - mirrors off (who needs them anyway ;)) - 2 or 4 MSAA, TSSAA off
  23. I can't tell how big they are, the one on the right look small enough but doesn't have buttons. The middle one has plenty but it looks too big. Can't I go with the pad :D it's so comfortable, functional and small :P
  24. I wonder too what his settings are. Ati 4890 is generally between Nvidia GT 260 and GTX 275 in terms of performance. So going from 4.4 to 3.4 costs you 15-30 FPS? Is this game so heavily dependent on CPU?
  25. Oh for Christ's sake 12 FPS with that PC?!! OMG :shocking: So what can I hope for with that laptop, 2-3 FPS?
