Which doesn’t really help in MP slots... wish you could modify it.
-
Very much hope then that ED will improve the Hornet Datalink - if I understood the Viper datalink video correctly you could set up different flight frequencies etc. This would be so very useful in MP.
-
That would hopefully just be a WIP. If I understood correctly watching the Viper Datalink video - the ability exists for that plane. I would very very much be hoping that ED will be coming back around on the Hornet Datalink and enabling that. The ability to set a flight identity would indeed be very useful....

And with these posts I will take a step back and wait and watch what happens. I have made my points, I have seen that others are also unhappy. Yes, my faith in ED at this point is minimal and the relentless push for EA means I will never buy from you again until a product is complete. I hope after the Xmas break that The hornet is in a much better place and that ED will continue to improve communications and expectation management.

It’s not ‘lie’ in all probability, however, When that was said it was said for a reason because people saw how much was left to be done on the hornet and had expressed a concern that there would be an impact. ED said that wouldn’t happen (probably with the best of intentions) but in hindsight to ED, was it not obvious? Because it was to us. That is why there is doubt and such strong sentiment occurring. That ED has had to ‘borrow’ two months of dev time on the hornet just to get the Viper to an ‘acceptable’ state shows it wasn’t a ‘close run’ thing. What has ED learnt about the balancing of multiple similar modules at the same time is what I would want to know - and what will aeD do differently to avoid a similar situation from happening. If you’ve learnt nothing from this episode, then this will happen again no doubt.

‘Eagle Dynamics and all of our third parties strive to make this period as short as possible’
-
Indeed. I’m Hoping that consistent improvements to the hornet completing many systems come over the next months to help improve my perception.
-
I think that’s a gross misrepresentation. I think it is clear/obvious for all what an ED delivers comms capability needs to entail to be effective. If all we needed was a room per coalition then why even bother when discord and ts3 exists. I can understand them pushing it out iteratively to learn, but the fact that Ed seems to be sharing this as a ‘isn’t this great’ when it is far from what is needed, objectively worse than third parties is the problem. If they showed some humility ‘we know this is a very simple implementation, and there is a huge amount more we need to do to get it to an acceptable state for you, but this is a learning process for us. Currently we are anticipating that properly tied in to radio capability will be delivered in Q? 202?’ That would be far better than ‘great news guys! Look at this amazing thing’. The tone they set needs to match the initial and end delivery states.

Agreed. Most in This forum seems to be on the wholE so ready to believe ED on anything they say, and then forgive them immediately when something changes no matter what. I think if there was more people acting with scepticism and challenge on these forums then it would be healthier.
-
I can see that as a possibility, but it still wouldn’t answer why they had to push so hard on the Viper. Did a couple of months of EA really make that much of a difference?
-
You can accept them in a month or so’s time reprioritising the Viper or the next ea push, I however will try to keep pressure on them to complete the Hornet by acting as a counterweight to the overly positive members here. Thanks.

I don’t think we should suddenly be all sunlight and happiness because ED are finally working on the Hornet again. Is it good that they are working on it again, yes indeed it is, but let’s not think that all is forgiven and forgotten. I’ll be watching the Hornet vis a vis the Viper for some time yet...
-
I’ll wait for them to be on my computer working without bugs before I celebrate...
-
While it may be good that they are finally getting round to working properly in the Hornet again, this whole episode has burnt many people and ED have a lot to make up for... It’snot just a great December the Hornet needs, it’s a strong consistent push to the finish line
-
100%. There needs to be a common bar between an ED Module and a 3Rd party. Either can choose to exceed it, but no one is allowed to undershoot.
-
So to confirm we can expect an OB release on 27th and on 4th December as things stand? (As I assume the JF17 will go to OB first?)
-
Where did I mention TWS? It’s the overall system gaps that I want worked on. And yes - I agree that the most egrarious example of Ed’s ea policy is the Huey multi crew. Hence my advice/suggestions. I would also reiterate nineline A’s instruction to respect other people - plus you said a profanity which goes against forum rules so you really should have your post deleted.
-
You might want to check out SRS that already had these while you wait for EDs implementation....

Some thoughts: 1) by releasing any module into early access - everyone is impacted by that module being in ea. If you buy it, if you have to fly against it, and if it slows down development on what you have bought. Ea is an inescapable thing if you pat pate in DCS. So you cannot say ‘don’t like EA, don’t partake’ 2) as many others have said - the bar for EA, the length of time in EA, and the clarity of EA modules and systems Priorities is absolutely impenetrable to us. We as your customers need more than anything to see a roadmap for the modules and core improvements so we can get an understanding of what is the priority and interplay. That roadmap needs to be updated for any new module BEFORE you accept any money from people For EA so they can establish if it is ‘ready’ enough for them, and or if they like the trade offs it may occur. It then needs updating on a semi frequent basis (once a quarter at the worst?) 3) you really do need to avoid having a similar situation in the future which plays one module off against another. It has done Ed no favours in the eyes of many. If it is mission critical that it needs to be done, you need to be all over the messaging - ahead of any changes being made to plans (not just reacting to questions) and you need to commit to backstops, and make up to people the lost ground in some way. Just ‘thanking for their patience’ I personally don’t think is enough. If you take resource from a module People own for a signficant length of time, maybe you should give those people a discount on the new module to say ‘thank you’. Might be a win win for you and drive more sales... (that’s the only way I can think off unless you move Viper devs over to the hornet which you’ve said you won’t do. Even if you did I wouldn’t use it as I won’t buy the f16 until the hornet is complete as is the Viper)
-
Hostile as in red would need two confirmations. Ambiguous HAFU’s (yellow) could be that the target hadn’t turned on his IFF, and you didn’t get a view of his engines from close enough in on the right aspect for nctr
-
I think that’s a rather vain hope. As we were told several times by the community when we asked why these capabilities couldn’t be developed on the Hornet then ported to the Viper ‘it’s not just plug and play, they need to create the interfaces between the module and the underlying tech. The only way this would work is if TWS etc was completed in the Viper and the Radar guy is now back on the hornet, and I doubt that very much as the OB that was primarily about the Viper Radar would have to be being held up purely by the INS (which would make little sense) and because I’m sure that ED would have been very keen to tell us that the radar guy has moved back to the Hornet given how unhappy many people are at the delays to the Hornet caused by the Viper
-
Agree with you but you forgot the most egrarious example. Multi crew for the Huey is 6 years and counting, but Ed are finally ‘working on it’
-
Are you using f2 view?
-
Plus low altitude aerodynamics may be of use for things like even faster trains (maglev?) that run very low to the ground. Rocket/jet hybrids that can be throttle up and down. How to make aluminium wheels that spin at 70000rpm. Materials science. Lots of benefits.
-
Hawker Hunter. I don’t care which mark. In the meantime I’ll settle for a completed Hornet.
