Oh the other point to note - if ED don’t give the ability when and if they do integrate with radios to have comm 1 and 2 coming only From left or right headphones, forget it. Knowing which channel I am hearing just from which ear I’m hearing it in is such a good thing...
-
You can use both you know? I have comms forwards for comm 1, down for comms 2, back for ts3, modifier and back for Discord, and up for ‘comms menu’
-
That is exactly how the gold standard ED have to hit (SRS) works. For everything else there is: Ts3 Discord And points for the old school Jabber Mumble
-
I would very much hope that core sim programmers for things like weather and network are completely different team than the modules. Iirc 50% of the team don’t work on modules.
-
Good point, well made. Maybe we should sit in our pits in the hornet and make ‘beep’ noises to simulate the missing systems!
-
Haha! No worries. There was a fairly hefty dose of sarcasm in my post! I don’t give two hoots for a rearward facing antenna for an obsolete weapon system....
-
Yes we were! It wa as rear facing antenna for the link pod!!! ;-)
-
Shall we wait for said modules to be completed instead of theorycrafting? There’s no point doing so as we won’t be able to test those ideas for Years yet.
-
Demonstrably false. Ed moved people From working in hornet to working on viper. This has been going on for two months at least. Either: A) those devs would have done nothing in which case I would have a bigger axe to grind B) this has delayed releasing systems and fixes for the hornet.
-
You have some left?! Mind sharing? ;-)
-
I'm of the opinion that the chances of seeing any output of the 'hard push on the Hornet systems' we've been told of this side of the Xmas break is now tending to zero as there will no doubt be pressure to push these changes on the Viper to Stable before ED reorients back to the Hornet, and the time it has taken just to get to here on the Viper Radar is considerable, so expecting to get improvements to things (like TWS, AACQ, INS, Countermeasures, TGP improvements etc) on the Hornet in a span of 2 to 3 weeks would be false hope. Very disappointed/angry with ED at the moment at the continuing treatment of the Hornet/owners so would appreciate an update on the knock on consequences.
-
I can only speak for the F18 and say ‘it should do’
-
If Ed deploy ‘new clouds’ without them being synced in Multiplayer, even if it is ‘coming later’, after their very clear messages that they heard and will sync them, I for one will be very disappointed.
-
Then the conversation moved onto whether the A2G radar is fully simulated or ‘game’ simulated - Either way 5 years to code a radar simulation seems excessive when we saw wip shots back in 2015. As some people are so fond of saying, tech is built then added to planes. If the tech existed 5 years ago, why do we still not have it?
-
No, we’re talking about the AG Radar that has been worked on since April 2015 (earliest wip pictures of it). It was being developed for the Hornet at the time.
-
I agree something needs to change as I don’t think the EA model is sustainable. I don’t think subscription is the way to go - especially if you’ve sunk $$$$ into Ed already. Kickstarters I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole as they are not legally enforceable. If anything - once ED have proven that they can and are making significant improvements in the base game beyond all quibble, then I would *tentatively* support a ‘major release’ charge for that work on an ongoing basis. So using history the move from 1.x to 2.x IF ED actually deliver (looking at bugged lighting in Ka50 since 2.x)
-
Ed have already said that the clouds will be synced in MP. It’s not hard. Something something other sim something something....
-
To go fast? If we didn’t have people wanting to push the boundaries we wouldn’t have had the Wright brothers. Sir Harry Sopwith. Alcock and Brown. Sir Frank Whittle etc
-
From the context (someone criticising ED for taking 5 years with no A2G Radar released) that ‘the other sim’ should be expected to have an A2G Radar as it has been around since 1998, which infers that you find it acceptable for ED to not have an A2G Radar after 5 years of work, but that sometime between there and 20 years is a point at which it would be expected. May I ask therefore when would be the point in time at which it would be ‘too long’ for ED to deliver a ground radar?
-
Why should we donate money to ED to improve the core features of the sim? That’s product sustainment after all. The fact it is free means that there is no financial pressure to do so, as people would likely be much less relaxed about some of the issues with it if they’d paid for it...

Allowable Steering Error (ASE) Circle doesn't show up
Arctander replied to solus's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
You may be in LTWS mode in which case you need to do two TDC depresses to change to STT Edit: on rereading your post referring to the ‘yellow’ I’d say that’s it. I’d advise researching as well as datalink as you can now get contacts showing on your radar your radar can’t see (due to antenna elevation) so you need to keep an eye on that! -
Secondly - how do you KNOW EDs implementation will be better than ‘the other sim’ when we haven’t got a clue to what level of fidelity and completeness it will be? How about we wait to have both fully delivered and then compare at that point.
-
DCS started in October 2008 (Wikipedia - caution). You’re point being? Edit: and to head the inevitable response off at the pass - April 2015 is When they shared a wip ED A2G Radar, (earlier one the thread) so that‘S still 4.5 years which is a not insignificant period of time. My point is that ‘time elapsed’ is not relevant to the question as surely sufficient time has elapsed for ED to have deployed their own A2G radar simulation since then. Quite why they have been unable to I cannot speculate.

Brightness control for Text and Labels ETC

That’s a good idea...
