KaspeR32, don't forget clouds! A cloud update would be nice :) As for the secrets... Well, you could PM the secret to me and then the Guinness would flow and the secret will still be MOSTLY secret ;)
-
I have some Guinness in my fridge right now, plus the proper, Guinness made glasses, just for Guinness. Share a little secret and I'll ... drink one for each of you? Or I suppose I could give one to a squirrel here, and of course, that squirrel will be related to your squirrel. So, it's kinda like giving your squirrel the beer. Sorry, I'd send them TO you all, but, I think the mail system would destroy them. And that would be Guinness blasphemy.

EDIT: It seems that this has been brought up. Good. I haven't read every post, but there is something that people seemingly have forgotten when it comes to the blackhawk/seahawk. Rescue missions. Either in hot zones with bullets flying all over and needing to land in tough places or out at sea with giant 50 foot, stormy seas. with the ability to also fire some weapons, there is a lot of sim that could be there. And rescue missions could bring in some people that have more of a cost guard/life saving interest, and less of a war and killing interest. That said, I would purchase this module and enjoy it very much (or any helo or plane module). However, my most preferred would be the AH-64D. Yes, I know the whole classified issue. But it is still my first choice. I've been in a love affair with it since I was a wee lad.

Hmmm... Interesting. But I preordered... If I hadn't, I'm sure I'd purchase it though. I've been with DCS since BS and I plan to be with DCS for many years to come :)

Wow... Those clouds are pretty amazing! Schön... :)

Personally, I like the hog... lol :) (That is not is certainly not to say that I won't very much so enjoy the next module. Because I will.) :D

A suggestion for 'improving' toggle switches in the 3D cockpit
Newt replied to Crescendo's topic in DCS Wishlist
The wheel is programmed to the middle mouse button I thought. Though, I suppose one could change that. Personally, I deactivated that little wheel because I'd bump it when I didn't want it and it is hard to use without moving the wheel too. I dunno. I just don't like using that button. But, that's just me. -
I totally agree! But, I don't think it's wrong to point out where I believe the game can improve. :)

Which video are you speaking of? And "just you wait"? Interesting tease... o.O

A suggestion for 'improving' toggle switches in the 3D cockpit
Newt replied to Crescendo's topic in DCS Wishlist
I have one reason why this might be an issue and should remain the way it is. Most of the time I would agree, but sometimes, when I want to flip a switch but need both hands on the controls and cannot reach the mouse, I use the mouse device and clicking button on my throttle (saitek X52). This function only works as a left (or right if you so program it) click and therefore would not allow me to "right click". Yes, the argument could be made that in moments where I must have both hands on the controls at my desk, and therefore, in a real cockpit would also need to have my hands at the controls and would thereby be unable to operate a switch in real life either. But, I'm sure many people use the Saitek mouse function and this would be problematic for them. Lastly, I also used this mouse feature a LOT when I didn't have my Trackir system. So, for those who don't have the Trackir (or free equivalent), would likely be more frustrated than those who want realism as it means their ability to actually control the cockpit would suffer. Note: I'm not against your idea, so don't eat me alive lol. I'm just playing the devil's advocate and pointing out a problem that would need to be included when devising a solution. -
I completely forgot about that... Now I'm very pleased with myself for pre-purchasing it! Go me! :D
-
What do you mean "make it available to pre-purchasers like myself"?

This caused me to look up some youtube videos on FSX to see their clouds and I hate to admit it (previously I didn't even want to give FSX the time of day, although I do not know quite why I have such animosity towards FSX) but their clouds do look better, albeit they seem highly glitchy and less dimensional (more 2D); but there are a variety of clouds, thicker (in height) better highlights and at more varying altitudes. However, when the overcast clouds are on in DCS and the plane is above them, the DCS clouds look nice. But sadly, very stratus like with no real height. I still like DCS more by far. Don't worry ED :) I just suddenly have a longing for better clouds... :P

Hahaha, that would be interesting. :D

(Moved this from the Dynamic Weather overview thread) I'm curious to know if there has been any discussion on upgrading the cloud system. As of right now, it seems like there are only a few types of clouds. (Don't get me wrong, the clouds are pretty good as they are, but they can still be vastly improved.) What would it take to model a big cumulonimbus cloud? lol As of right now, thunderstorms are being developed in what look like thick nimbostratus (which could create rain, but I don't know about a thunderstorm), or, stratus or alto stratus clouds (which do not a thunderstorm make). I know it must be difficult, but there is a lot of talk about ground textures, etc. and little talk about improving the cloud system, which imo, is also very important in making the sim look as real as possible. Also, are the current clouds static? I was flying a dynamic weather test and it seems as though the clouds don't actually move...

Plus one. (thought I'd be slightly original :P )

Ah, thanks! After looking at that I think the problem may have been the zone issue. That would make sense.

I did not think of that. I'll check that out when i have the time. Thanks for your idea!

Hey all, I was playing the main campaign and flying the second mission. Everything was going well until my third JTAC UTM coordinates are given to me. After putting in the coordinates and choosing that as my steer point (like I always do) I found that it was miles away from the target zone in a completely different grid. Was this an error or a JTAC from a different area all together? I didn't follow it since it was so far away, it just seemed off. I did abort and try again with the same results. The first set of targets were all in the target grid (I forget the coordinates now, but something like HM or idk). The new one was way off in K something, seemingly out at sea. I do think I called in on the second JTAC since the first one said that they didn't need me anymore but I knew that there were still tanks on the ground. But, I thought the 2nd JTAC was in the area too. I don't know why there would have been a second JTAC so far away. Sorry, this got lengthy. Bottom line is, has anyone had an error of JTAC giving targets way out of the way? Thanks.

On a brighter, less argumentative note, Shark Week is going strong ;) And the Hog is kinda like a shark. Circles patiently, picking out a target, dives in, hits it and gets out to circle again :P

Lol It can not be public information until you tell us. Then it will be public; no harm done! But no, I understand :) I'm just pleased that this community is able to speak with programmers, testers and creators so easily. It is somewhat of a rare thing. So, thank you.

Interesting response... Although, honestly, I'm not entirely sure how to interpret it lol. Are you saying that you cannot comment?

I have a quick question about the Nevada map. Are the clouds the same as they are in the normal map? When I see beta videos it seems like the clouds look better than I normally see them in my sim. Yes, my graphics are all the way up and my pc is pretty beefy. So, it's either in my head or there is an improvement (I'm hoping for the latter, for more than one reason :P.) Thanks.

Yes, it does. It will give tower freq. as well as the ILS and TACAN freq. if the airport has the devices. As well as put the chosen strip on the HUD as a steerpoint and thereby give you a distance on the HUD and HSI and direction which is useful in low visibility. It also lists the runway headings. It pretty much tells you all the same things that the F10 map does but from within the plane. Personally, I think this tool/ability isn't mentioned enough. It is very helpful and isn't "cheating" like some might think the F10 view is.
