  1. No news on this front for a while, eh? Has anything been said about perhaps improved ATC AI with this map? I forget.
  2. Sadly, I do not think so. I have been talking about more cloud variety for a while. But, we did get dynamic cirrus clouds recently. So, they are making an effort, but I think that perhaps their current engine can't produce effects such as cumulonimbus clouds. Only cirrus, cumulus and stratus clouds afaik. I long for the day that we have dynamic weather that can move, change and produce new clouds. To start a mission near some cumulus congestus and then by the end of the mission it has become a full blown cumulonimbus and a localized thunderstorm.
  3. Oh sure, there can still be rough air at times. But it isn't always jittering. In that same video at :50 (I use this one so one doesn't have to wait for it to buffer to get to 5 minutes in lol) on the right side the plane is jittering a little, but on the left side, top and bottom videos, are both mostly smooth. Point is, in my opinion, there should be more "force" effects and vibration, but only when there should be. If this is possible, of course. Also, it probably should be slightly toned down or have the option to have it the way it currently is since the extra motion might make some feel sick. And yes, I agree, there should be some when the GAU is firing. Even the pilot in that video commented on how it felt and vibrated when it was fired. He said "...the aircraft shakes pretty violently, it feels like the aircraft is about to explode the first time it happens to you." And, judging by the camera when they show it happening, it definitely seems powerful. Probably because it is. :D Edit: I post this after I stumbled on it. I know that when I get my hands on whatever the next DCS jet is, I'll be doing some of this: Btw, Lord Vader makes an appearance at 2:23. Darth Vader is French... Who woulda thought...
  4. Like I said, it should be there, when the plane would actually be bumping around. If the plane is in nice smooth level flight, it would not bump around much. There are some examples of times in these videos, in which there are times of smooth flight and times of bumpiness. This one is just a good one for A-10's: And this one has a good example of when it should be bumpy at 2:04: Yes, there are "g-force" camera movements, but we're talking about it being a little more bumpy than the game's slight swaying. As for being bumpier the faster you fly, that won't always be the case. You could fly faster and it could still be smooth.
  5. The only problem I have with the camera jiggle (in the 1st person cockpit view) is that it is just a constant jiggle and it doesn't reflect the motion of the plane at all. I mean, when just sitting on the runway, it shouldn't be jiggling around. I wish that it would react to the motion of the plane and turbulence. Especially when taking off and landing, if it reflected the bumps on the runway. That would add to the immersion immensely. It should be part of the check box in the options for the camera reacting to the G forces or whatever they call it in the options menu.
  6. Hahaha, that made my morning... I was close to shouting at my monitor as I repeatedly watched the cursor glide past the exact switch that they wanted... :)
  7. Ah no, you misunderstood me. I meant that the flight models aren't up to DCS standards. I wasn't talking about the graphics.
  8. I know that this has been suggested a couple times, but I believe that it hasn't been brought up for a good while and is something I would still love to see. The wings bend as you take tight turns. Ever since my first flight as a wee boy on a family vacation, one of the biggest things that I remember being in awe over and that has stuck with me despite now having seen it loads of times, is that the wings bend.
  9. Wow, the scenery there DOES look really good... I would almost buy it since it has an F/A-18. But, it doesn't look like it is modeled anywhere close to DCS standards. I don't think that the cockpit is fully functional even... Ouch. And I think that that sim even has the wings bending. I would love to see that happen in a DCS sim. It's one of the main things I remember from the first time I was ever on a plane and it still is one thing I always look for despite seeing it many times now. I don't know why, I just am always in awe over it. It makes the air seem, real and fluid. Like the plane isn't just flying through nothing, but a real force. Like it really is :P
  10. It would be kind of nice to hear the reason why. I know that a lot of people say that there wouldn't be any, etc. But, when you watch videos from inside real planes, they often have them. *shrug* oh well...
  11. And that video was amazing lol. Very clever. :)
  12. A little bit... We have all been waiting for a very long time... But, I have faith in them. I'm sure it will be worth it. :)
  13. I'm looking forward to Dino View.
  14. I don't mean to poke holes in your "proof," but... if you add in the rest of the name and take out the specific F/A, etc. part... Just sayin'... That might not be the best "proof" for your argument. Personally, I like the Hawg, and I like the Eagle and Falcon, but, I like the Hornet too. I think they are just as cool and will be pleased with any of them. Or even if it's none of these, I'll still be a happy camper. (If they make something, of course. If it's none of these and nothing else either, I'll be sad. Very, very sad.)
  15. I'm glad someone said something. :megalol: It's ok. We all make typos... But still, that one was good. :D
  16. I don't know for sure as I have not really played too heavily with the system. But my guess is to try to mimic the causes of a real life thunderstorm. Take warm temperatures and throw in two strong pressure systems? Attempting to make a cold front bash into a warm front? We can't adjust moisture as far as I know (but it has been a long time since I've used the dynamic weather system) and I don't know if it models the evaporation off the sea... But you could try to make the high pressure system over the water and the low over land and given high temperature I think that would make the air full of moisture move towards land and the low pressure system and then it would be pushed up into the atmosphere creating lots of clouds and hopefully a storm (provided the weather system takes evaporation into account.) I might also have this backwards lol. If that doesn't work, I would say make it summer and hot if you can, then throw in some pressure systems with great differences in pressure levels and work your way up in strength and number of pressure systems? If I had my pc setup I would try and figure it out for you, but I just moved and have yet to get a desk for my computer to be on. If you figure it out, let me know. Oh, keep in mind that the dynamic weather system as of now cannot create overcast in one spot and clear in another. It's either overcast or mostly cloudy for now. I'm not sure what that means for thunderstorms.
  17. Good questions... I'm hoping for a quick hot fix.
  18. Heh, I was just wondering this myself.
  19. First, all of this news sounds great! I hope that these additions bring more people to these amazing sims. (Proper people, of course; we don't want the wrong crowd... We want a good strong community with many people, but I don't want to see ED's sims fall the way the original Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon series did, for example. I don't want DCS Hawx X_X Oh, how the Tom Clancy name has fallen...) But, I trust ED to make sure that doesn't happen to their sims. Anyway, does anyone know if the "road map" provided by wags is in a chronological order? I assume not, but I was just curious. P.s. no offense to any that like Hawx or what R6 or GR turned into. I'm just saying that those games went from sims to action shooters and I, personally, was very disappointed by that. (Well, Hawx was never a sim. lol)
  20. Ugh. :noexpression: Alright, clear enough. I won't ask again...
  21. Was there ever a "end of 2011" or "early 2012" statement? lol I could have sworn I read something along those lines a couple of months ago...
  22. Speaking of the Nevada map (and thank you for mentioning it. As I was reading through all this that is what kept popping up in my mind.) Anyway, now that the 1.1.1.0 patch is out and the BS2 update is out, has there been any news about when we might finally get our hands on the Nevada terrain? If not, instead of "when it's done" I would prefer an answer of whatever the latest estimate is. (for example, "end of 2011" or "beginning of 2012 sometime," etc.) Because I know the "when it's done" bit lol. And I don't mean to nag. I just don't have time right now to sift through hundreds of pages on the topic that a search would give. :P Just looking for whatever the latest update is.
  23. Ok... I love ED. But, I have to agree, this process is a bit complicated and unnecessarily so. I have BS1 with v1.0.2 and I don't want to go through this mess. I'm going to wait for a version that I can just install BS2 over my v1.0.2. Don't worry, ED, I'll still be buying it. When this little snag is sorted out, that is. :) Until then, back to the Hog!
  24. I know there are a few threads on this, but they're so old I figured If I posted this there they wouldn't be seen. I recently reinstalled BS vanilla and then the 1.0.2 patch with the hopes of getting back into the Blackshark experience. BUT, I run into that error at the options menu thing. The old posts from 1.0.1 talk about how we have to change our pc's location to UK. I'm in the US and have the English version. Do I really need to change my location to the UK just to make this work? That seems rather silly... And if this was a problem with 1.0.1, why is it still a problem with 1.0.2? Edit: I got through it after I ran it as admin. Using win7 64bit. So, perhaps that was all the issue was. Last time I flew it I was using XP.
