  1. Might he also be able to use the CDU repeater and then click function > 2 on the UFC then choose the divert option on the right MFCD and aren't the listed airports listed based on distance from your plane with the top one being the closest? Edit: Whoops, I didn't notice Frostiken's post. My mistake.
  2. There are professor made lessons for aviation meteorology out there, but I have a feeling that I should not link to them as they are made for paying university students. For those out there who are still in school and have a serious interest (even if it's just serious interest as a hobby) in aviation, I highly recommend taking an intro meteorology course. They are very interesting and one can learn a lot for aviation and just for casual weather prediction or even just having a better understanding of what the meteorologists on tv are talking about. If you can take one in an aviation dept. then that's even better. Personally, I learned from Alan Borho, who co-wrote this article about freezing rain and Doppler radar, etc. A team he worked with also flew through some mammatus clouds which was rather interesting to hear about. By the way, who else is watching shark week? :P
  3. Those are simplified wind station models telling wind direction and speeds. A half tick mark is 5 knots, a full is 10. once you get to 50 there is a triangular one that means 50, and so it continues. Kind of like counting where you put four tick marks, then cross it for five, then start new. So, 65 knots would be a triangle with one full tick mark and one half tick mark. This graphic may help. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wind_barbs.gif
  4. Haha! That's awesome!
  5. This is a random question, but, Luckybob, is that squirrel drinking a Guinness?
  6. I just got a Trackir system today and tried it out. I too have this issue. It's kinda weird.
  7. Ya know, it would be nice if we could learn the reason for the medals. My best guess is just that it's based on your score. But it'd be cool if they were actually awarded for something instead.
  8. Would someone be able to post a couple screen shots of this new FLIR and perhaps the "tuned" cockpit reflections? I'm curious to see them but won't be able to for a little bit...
  9. So, I've been looking for info on this Nevada map thing but haven't really turned much up. What exactly is the situation with this? Is it just a free flight map made for campaign modders to wip some missions up? On this thread Dx11 is mentioned. Is Nevada a graphically enhanced map? In a nut shell, there's little information on just what this even is. I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking forward to lol
  10. What do you mean? I haven't been able to try this out yet, but I'm curious about this. Could anyone post a screenshot or something? Also, what's the benefit of having the cockpit textures separate from the world textures? Frame rate boost?
  11. It would be, but I'm worried about the AI in single player. Also, I'm worried about how most people would learn the pilot role and not the WSO role, which would be kind of problematic in multiplayer. If possible, it might help if the cockpit in MP could allow one player to have different difficulty/realism level than the other. That way, if a person is required to fly in a seat they aren't familiar with, they could make it a little easier so they aren't just pressing buttons at random. But, maybe I'm wrong... maybe that won't be a problem. Also, don't get the wrong idea, I'm all for realism and I play both A-10c and Ka-50 in simulation mode. :smartass:
  12. I vote for a human kite study sim. It may be complex as there are a lot of aspects to model, plus the start up sequence would be a nightmare to remember, but it'd be worth the effort. :smilewink: First test flight But, in all seriousness, I voted for the F-18 to enable carrier missions and because I figured it was the most likely (and it is a pretty awesome jet, can't lie) as adding carriers in addition to a two-seater would be tough, plus, I highly doubt that the F-35 would work if all that talk about classified information being an issue. However, this isn't to say that a two-seater should not be made. I think that would be really fun in MP. Although, it would mean learning two cockpit roles and some people might not prefer one of these meaning MP could be difficult to find spots open. As for a bomber, I think the F-117 would be pretty sweet. Hopefully, someday they may have an AH-64, preferably the D variant...
  13. I'm gonna guess the Airco DH-5 Link :smilewink:
  14. Thanks for the page ref. As for the longbow part, I actually knew that, I mistakenly added the "D" out of habit. Whoops.
  15. Forgive me, I know that info on the idea of a DCS: AH-64D has been decided against (at least as the next model), but I can't find the post where they said so. I did search, but there's just too much to search through. So, do any of you know what the reason was?
  16. I just hope it's the constant swaying and not that I'm getting old and the motion tracking itself is what's making me feel sick... :noexpression: That or it is possible that some of it is due to the fact that I loaded up a saved track while testing it. Perhaps the sick feeling is due to the fact that the plane was flying and banking hard while I wasn't controlling it.
  17. Well, that helped a little. But, I'm starting to wonder if it's my light or camera because I got up once and the program registered a painting on my wall as a face--which obviously isn't moving at all--and I went in game and it was still slightly swaying. So, I'm not sure what the deal is. But it's upsetting because after 30 minutes that stupid little swaying starts to make me feel sick.
  18. It works. I just have one problem. It's getting small readings or something and my view in game ends up jerking all over. I had to stop trying to fix it because I was getting sick from all the shaking and jerkiness. I'm not quite sure what the problem is. But it's definitely not smooth and steady like the videos on youtube show... :/ It does work, it's just that when my face is not moving, it reads tiny movements and shakes, as if I have a really bumpy ride.
  19. I was wondering about this... I see the doors open for the AI planes... I need a garage door opener :smilewink:
  20. Thanks, this was actually the part that I needed. I actually did just figure it out about 20 minutes ago. But I am happy someone replied, nonetheless. :)
  21. Call me an idiot, but I've been trying to make the night vision work and haven't figured out how. I searched for it in the manual and if it's there I missed it...
  22. I like the way you think!
  23. Or go to "create fast mission" from the main menu and you can adjust the time there, and details for targets if you go into "advanced mode".
  24. OOOohhhhh....... Ok, that makes sense... I don't have that mapped to my Saitek X-52. I'll have to look up the keyboard shortcut. Thanks a bunch!
