  1. @Maxter737 - I have that game chair and I think the throttle will likely need a custom base with rubber feet to stay put on the floor. I think the box on the bottom will likely make the throttle very close to the right height. I suspect I will create new holes and add a 2x12 cut to size with some rubber on one side. I might also be able to use one of the existing table arms to attach to the side of the box to keep the module from sliding around.
  2. Thanks J. Love the vids by the way. YOU taught me case one :)
  3. So Jabbers mentioned this will go back to preorder for a short time? I am interested in purchase. Is this true? If so, when? Can I order now and get the preorder pricing?
  4. I think the radar that is on the harpoon doesn't have the capacity in game right now to fly that hight and detect targets as the targets would be below the cone of the radar. I think Redkites youtube vid covered it.
  5. Do those actually work now? They didn't before. Whatever I set, the JDAM/JSOW does a standard program to the target.
  6. You could also do VRK for the kneeboard. It feels good to be able to just write something down vs having to find the damn keyboard in VR.
  7. That is an excellent summary post Harker! Thank you. One question I have - what is the diff in IFF between TUC and SCS depress? Seems if I put a target under TUC, IFF resolves. Is it just speed or something else that SCS depress does?
  8. First - thanks for all the info, this has been helpful. I have a miz file with the following directories KNEEBOARD\IMAGES KNEEBOARD\FA-18c_hornet\IMAGES KNEEBOARD\F-16C_50\IMAGES I have files in all three images folders. I can see the KNEEBOARD\IMAGES files in both planes. I can see the KNEEBOARD\F-16C_50\IMAGES in the F-16. I cannot see the KNEEBOARD\FA-18c_hornet\IMAGES files in the F18. Any thoughts on why? Is the folder structure and naming correct? Any one know what the F-14, AV8B, and A10C folder names are? I've also tried KNEEBOARD\FA-18C_hornet\IMAGES with no luck. *****UPDATE***** I figured it out - its KNEEBOARD\FA-18C_hornet\IMAGES. The "C" must be capitalized.
  9. I don’t know how many of you fly online - lately me flying online has been painful. I was using the settings wicked has in the previous post. When I do, having one or more player aircraft near me while a2a refueling drops my frame rate to less that 20. I had to take it back to stock in steam (150%) to not see the drop off. Anyone else seeing that? Any suggestions on how to fix?
  10. @supmua - taking a page from your book... Pushed refresh down to 80hz and went with a simpler 190% global setting in steam vr with shadows high, all textures and object draws high, and 2xaf. I get 18ms and NO RED frame times anywhere... Not quite as pretty as higher values, but very playable in SP or MP. Will continue to test things out but I am leaving those settings alone...
  11. /rant on I don't know about you guys, but I am feeling extreme frustration over a chasing mediocre performance with a seriously expensive pile of hardware. I get what I think is a decent config, and new drivers come out.then back to the ole drawing board... I turn things down and still get large hiccups during game play where I go to the mountains base screen and can see my base stations for a half second or two. it comes back, and things are smooth for 15-30 seconds, then bang, another one happens. totally intermittent. still looking for what is causing that. Happens mainly in MP so suspect the network. I also get a lot of shimmer / artifacting with either bright lights - sun goes through the hud and the all of the hud symbols go wavy, or high waves on the sea causes a sh*t ton of visual defects and lots aliasing on boats, the hud, and any other thing that is near the waves. Speed also makes anything moving in 3 dimensions ghost bad. Sadly I don't get that in any other game. I can live with some stuff, but this always seems like I have to make some very serious compromises. I haven't found any holy grail settings that give me good performance without either being fuzzy or crawling all over the screen with aliasing. I've had to push down to 150/120 to keep frame rates reasonable in MP, which then causes the aliasing crawl. To add insult to injury, I can push the card to high SS 150/140 and the game looks amazing for a few seconds at a time. LMAO. Ah well. I guess its only money. /rant off
  12. @pchRage - I came from an o+ too. You will need to make sure you've purged all of the settings for SteamVR before you start up with the index. The index has the SAME resolution as the o+. SAME. What is different is the panel tech - OLED vs LCD. LCD is slightly less bright, and less contrasty, with better pixel fill and better refresh. The settings can be broken into three areas - SteamVR, Nvidia Control Panel, and DCS itself. Do the least amount graphically in DCS. Put PD back to 1, remove all antialiasing (MSAA, SSAA, and AF), turn shadows to flat, and reduce the trees and grass (50% for trees, and 0 for grass). In SteamVR, you can use the 1.7.15 beta and go ahead and use the defaults - motion smoothing on and no custom resolution. Not sure what your specs are but try whatever Steam recommends. Also press up to 90hz first. If you don't have fpsVR, you can also go into the steamvr settings, under developer, and enable the check box to see the frame time counter in your index. This will show you how your GPU is performing real time. The lower the Frame time the greener the display, the smoother the game. @ 90 hz you want the game to operate at >18-19ms for 45 fps. In NVCP, stick with stock. You'll want to stick with the 436.02 driver for now. You will need to baseline this config with afterburner, or some other HW monitoring software to see how the CPU and GPU are doing. Something is bottlenecking somewhere, and having some data will help find the problem. If you do all of this and still have issues, you may have to look at upgrading something else to get better performance. If all of this you've done before, then disregard :). Just trying to help.
  13. ok - I got the Huion h640p tablet today. No Bluetooth, so its wired, but the tab with VRK works amazingly well. I can now write and manage a KB that is useable. The author is a great guy who got me everything I needed before I even knew what I needed. The instructions he sent were clear and easy to use. This just added a whole new level of immersion for me. The tablet cost me $40 bucks and worked out of the box with the custom driver. While not BT, the cable has a 90 at the end so its really easy to plug and unplug and is on the outside of my right knee. Lefties may want to look elsewhere. The h640p was new for this software, and is the perfect size. It is as long as my thigh and about as wide. I have a KB strap coming, but just setting it on my knee worked well. Well done AMVI_Rider!!!
  14. While I don't think the AG radar will be used to target weapons much (not that it won't but the pod will likely take precedence), I think its primary purpose (which is badly needed) is locating targets - especially moving targets. Using that to get a sense of the battlespace, and as a way to move the target pod or missile focus into place will be a final key block to the larger AG mission. It's in the jet for a reason.
  15. @supmua - I agree with Wicked. The risk to overclock vs the gain for me is not worth it.
  16. @AMVI_Rider - giving the H640P a try as well. :)
  17. @Wicked and Supmua - Here is what I have for performance using PL and Afterburner. Took this using the free flight over Dubai. Currently using 148/138 with no other SS or AF. Game runs well, but I know I'm on the edge :). The only numbers I don't fully believe are the frame times.
  18. @AMVI_Rider - seriously thinking about using your software but was curious about the following - 1. Do you only support the three models you outlined above? Or can other XP-Pen and WACOM devices be used? Thinking about the smaller versions... 2. How do I attach the pen tab to my leg? 3. How do I find the actual pen in VR? I don't want to constantly loose it while flying. 4. Will this work in the FA-18 module in DCS? 5. I think one can organize multiple KBs into sections, correct? How well does this work? The software looks amazing BTW.
  19. @Wicked - Understood on the thread core relationship. I'm not sure why but I am seeing the work push to more than one core. On the 6 cores i've assigned and their HT pairs, I get ALOT of utilization. I think there is something spreading out the work. Running DCS, those 6 cores with HT pairs are typically running 30-50% average with spikes to 80-90% at times. I'll grab an afterburner chart later this week and post. This seems to be a recent change because I used to only get ~10-20% utilization using all cores as of late May early June. I wonder if this was part of the update for VR optimizations?
  20. @Harker - Excellent sir... Thanks for the concise and simple clarification summary. I'll give it a try!
  21. See if there is a Microsoft store nearby. Those also have headsets and a decent return policy. Outside of that, I don't know the locale.
  22. To get something just to try - go to best buy and pick up a Rift S for the afternoon. Return if you aren't satisfied.
  23. @harker - ok good! I think I've seen that so far. My big question is how should one lock up L&S or DT2 targets IN DCS? Should the SCS right (or left depending on ddi) priority lock the L&S Target? Should a second push move the lock to the DT2 target? Sorry if this is detailed earlier. I saw the discussion, but the jumble of real vs DCS is confusing me...
  24. Not sure how real this is, but the big one outside of what you listed is changing the distance on the radar. It can be very inconvenient during a fight to have to free up my stick hand to touch buttons on the DDI. The other one mentioned is HSI / SA page swap on the AMPCD. The current configuration is not as HOTAS friendly as I think the real jet is.
  25. @supmua - Ok First I make sure what is running on my PC by opening PL and seeing what the active processes are. I only want the stuff I will run to be active while in DCS. I run the following apps Category 1 - Priority: Normal, IO: Normal, Affinity: 0-1 CPUs SRS Discord Voice Attack Category 2 - Priority: Very High, IO: High, Affinity: 0-3 CPUs VRCompositor.exe VRServer.exe VRHelper Category 3 - Priority: Very High, IO: High, Affinity: 4-15 CPUs DCS I make sure all else is off after boot. Folks are going to say DCS only runs 2 cores worth of processing, and that *may* be true, but I have NOT found that to be the case in my review of the CPU utilizations via Afterburner. With this config, I push all 6 cpus and HTs to 50-80% during game play. I do run Moose and other scripts. Any less and I get shuddering during combat and other graphically intense portions of the game. YMMV
