  1. Isnt that just HUD only? I still want to see the airplane I'm sitting in though!
  2. I want to remove the cockpit panels and displays, everything except the HUD and the presentation of the airframe so I can see the wings, airbrakes etc. I am using Helios on external models and no longer need the game-representation of these items. Is this possible? I feel I have been searching for a couple weeks on this topic on and off and I find a couple dead-end threads but nothing concrete. I do not just want to use the hud-only view. I really like seeing the plane for reference when using TrackIR. As flexible as this sim is, it seems like this should be possible. Perhaps just not straightforward? Thanks!
  3. Ok so I want to give you total credit here for solving the issue but I also want to raise a giant WTF. DCS has yet again revealed oddities in how Windows is operating behind-the-scenes. Maybe this is a Windows 8 thing. I opened my power options and reviewed them at your suggestion. I noticed that all my settings are set to "high performance" type of options (disabled screen and drive timers, cpu at max, etc). But I also noticed that, being lazy where it counts, I had not switched to "high performance" before upping all the settings. I guess I figured one profile title was as good as another. Wrong. So I decide to take your advice as literally as possible and I switch the loaded profile to "High Performance" and then make sure the settings in there are all actually cranked to max (they tend no to be, despite the title of this default profile). Tweak, apply, reboot, load A10 Multi and voila. All my textures are there. Sooo....WTF ? It is not just the profile settings but the profile itself and/or the settings together that count! I would never have assumed that or ever learned this had I not hit this bug. Thanks for your help!!
  4. Thanks for the lead I'll check that out and follow-up
  5. I actually have everything working just fine now, save for a couple questions below. I think the issue I have with one specific panel not getting it's touch assigned correctly unless being the primary is because this is the monitor sitting on the second video card. that + a lack of Elo Win8 multitouch drivers prob doesn't make matters any better. That should be remedied soon. Only two things remain at the moment... the CMSC and CMSP. I can't seem to get those viewports to come up. I seem to recall having to do something extra to get those to work before when I was using the LOZ profile. But I CANNOT remember what it was and none of my Helios-setup bookmarked threads are giving me a hint. Do either of those viewports need something special to get working? Are they working on your setup airdog?
  6. Yes I meant that mine are all set that way already. But I'll Double check it. Interesting theory. Graphics voltage rail issue is the theory I assume?
  7. Laptop? Will DCS programs even run on a laptop? J/k. But no...desktop here with no power savings settings at all. Most curious thing is why would it work perfectly in single player but not multiplayer?
  8. Sorry to triple post but I have a new issue. In Single Player, no problems. Everything is 100%. In multiplayer, plane textures are missing as shown above, and nothing works. This is frustrating because I finally have time to fly online again but now it doesn't work! Is this a DCS World issue? I'm running a monster system so it cannot be resources. I've tried dialing settings back, and even up, and no change. Any ideas?
  9. The icon symbols within each of your monitors infers that you have multiple "this is my main monitor" options checked, one for each monitor. However the checkbox is not checked in this example for monitor 3. To maintain my touchscreen alignment and monitor assignment I have to assign my main monitor as one of the touch monitors. How are you handling this? Thanks PS Also wanted to mention that as of a few mins ago I have EVERYTHING working EXACTLY as I want it. I filled in the blanks on your setup real quick, got it all running. Man this is GREAT!! Thanks again for your help!
  10. That is perfect and exactly what I was after. Like I said, I just needed something to pilfer from so I could get started. Definitely wasn't looking for you to do all the work. I just didn't want to start from scratch. When you have little ones running around there isn't a lot of time left at the end of the day for setup and experimentation on this gear. With your examples I can get back to flying more quickly. Thanks!
  11. That is not in contention. Please re-read my reply. I am only saying I think it is overkill for my scenario. But now that you bring it up, there is simply no way a software render of any kind can keep up with hardware rendering. I would need a TH2Go (sold mine because I dont) or SoftTH if I had only one video board and needed the "extra help" to get multi-monitor support. But I don't! I have two video cards JUST for this purpose. I'll go toe-to-toe in FRAPS any day with any software rendering method vs my all-hardware setup on an otherwise equivalent machine without concern that I'll see higher FPS every time. BUT, that is not what this thread is about. And I really don't want to debate this here. Please let's focus on the topic, which actually has been resolved! Moving the monitors around in Windows as airdog suggested WORKED PERFECTLY and helped me to achieve the result I need. Now I just need airdog to let me sample his profile and monitorsetup.lua file to save me time on my next diagnostic step which is getting the Gadroc 3-monitor profile to work. I can get the LOZ Helios profile to work fine but not the Gadroc setup for some reason. Cheers
  12. Not so sure...I'm not rendering the external view across these monitors...they are only touch panels used to mimic the controls and MFDs. And I have two video cards to provide native support for this feature. I'm not sure what SoftTH or TH2Go would offer here. I actually sold my TH2Go a while back!
  13. are you running 3 1920x1080 touch panels, one in landscape and two in portrait, all in addition to your main view? If so, any chance I could just pilfer your profile to save some time?
  14. I will give it a shot in a bit. Somehow my eyes just weren't seeing that button before ! That's what I get for going straight to the Nvidia tools! Thanks! What are you using for your panels and view ports?? Helios? Your setup is where I want to be but I can't quite find the panel setup that is just right. And no time now to make one from scratch.
  15. How do you rotate them in the Windows config like that? I rotate mine in nvidia config and it seems less effective (ie less apparent to windows that the screen is in a different orientation)
  16. You may have solved my problem with that reply. I was arranging the monitors in Windows 1:1 with reality. I didn't know about the limitation you describe. I'll experiment with that tonight. Thanks!!!
  17. Hi folks I have a four monitor setup. Main display is projector. Other three displays are touch screen and act as: -upfront panels gauges/MFDs -left side-pod controls -right side-pod controls At the moment I am shaping everything around Gadroc's Helios profile for 3-touch monitors. I am working with Gadroc to get that setup functional for my scenario. My problem however is that everything otherwise works peachy EXCEPT the right side-pod monitor is NOT being "painted black" while in-game. What I mean is, when DCS A10 is running the monitors for the left side-pod and upfront panels both go black. When the cursor is on those screens it is the standard DCS yellow cockpit crosshair. And I can move viewports to these screens that get "blacked out" while in-game. Unfortunately the right side-pod monitor never goes black. It continues to show the windows desktop and taskbar. Helios DOES paint the profile onto all screens correctly. But DCS A10 is somehow not seeing this right side-pod monitor. I have my resolution in DCS set as 5760x2160 so that should be the view area in DCS options. That should cover three monitors across: 1920x1080 1920x1080 1920x1080 1920x1080 with two screens stacked in the middle Any ideas why the 1920x1080 space on the LEFT is being included in the game's draw space but the 1920x1080 space on the RIGHT is being ignored by DCS? Thanks!!
  18. I did a bunch of experimenting and came to the following conclusions. On my setup, which uses an evga 690 for the main display, even with the latest patch released as of 11/28, I get a neon-blue sky and missing plane textures when running HDR = ON and AA < 16XQ . However if I run AA at 16XQ then HDR = ON works FINE, however FPS goes to single digits. But the textures and colors remain CORRECT. So there is some kind of interaction going on between AA and HDR. I don't need HDR too much and since I'm using a multi-monitor setup I could manage avoiding HDR to keep my FPS needs saved up for the right things. Still, seems like a bug.
  19. Same here. Sky turns a dark blue and plane textures disappear. I can keep flying though. Running eVGA 690 on core i7 with 12gb of Corsair memory. PC works great otherwise. This is occuring only since the latest auto-update patch. Help! I really want to finish my A10 glass cockpit but this is holding things up!
  20. I finally deduced my exploding cockpit-less plane was caused by my copying too much of the mods and scripts folder over to retain my multi-screen/custom control setup. I narrowed the files down to only what needed to be copied and my 'pit is back! Plane doesn't explode. BUT my second monitor for Helios only shows the MFD's now. So it's not totally broken but the rest of the gauges no longer show up. First problems solved. Now to resolve Helios. Can ED just BUY out Helios or something, and own it? And then own the integration from here on? That would be A+
  21. My Warthog did not work properly after the update. Or rather, as always (beta or not) the command profile was butchered so it prob is detected but there is no way to know this. Why do all DCS games like to rewrite the command config during updates? And why does it do things like assign a pitch axis to every device connected to my machine? Same for roll, rudder, throttle, etc. So I have to go clean all that garbage out each time or nothing works. Guys, you are genius at making sims. So I don't understand why this issue persists. Our key/joystick command setups are PRECIOUS. More so in a DCS sim, of course!! So please try to accommodate that in future builds! This makes updating very PAINFUL otherwise! The worst part is that I can't even revert now and restore my commands back because the DCS 1.1.2.1 patch butchered the OLD input files, to make sure I had no chance of saving my pain-stakingly configured control setup!! Here is how you fix it DCS: -During setup of a patch or update, add a wizard step to "import control mappings from previous version". This way the user turns over the import process to DCS, who are the experts in making this happen correctly. Now the end-user can't choose the wrong thing, or accidentally lose the new features etc. and/or -Warn users to back up their input files since the DCS update might very well erase everything! Ideally, give the user the option to back up their files WITHOUT having to exit the patch/update wizard. The objective should be: "All user config settings are retained across all updates." I'm wishing I could turn back time now. It'll be more hours of config setup all over again before I can play. When you have kids and family obligations and small windows of time to actually play, this kind of thing is the equivalent of shelving the sim for at least a month before you get to play it again. DCS is king. Just needs a little more bedside manner during the updates (even the beta's...because how can we evaluate the beta if our controls do not work!) Thanks and I look forward to future updates.
  22. Thank you!! That seems pretty straightforward.. For some reason I thought the side panels would be tougher to work in. Did you buid your own Helios profiles or using one of Gadroc's or the Loz profile for all your panels?
  23. This is very similar to the setup I am working on now. Are you using Helios? Would you mind sharing your monitor setup LUA file ? I would love to see how you get all this to display across the screens in the file. Two video cards for these four screens, yes? How is FPS after the side-panels were added? Thanks! Great looking pit!
  24. Was thinking today how much I miss the old Xwing simulators from LucasArts. And since they've said they likely won't try to make another one but wouldn't mind if someone else did, I got to thinking, who would make the best Xwing simulator? Well, if we wanted the real-deal, full study simulator then there is no where else to go but the crew at ED with DCS. Have you guys considered a fiction line to go alongside of your reality sims? An XWing vs Tie Fighter multiplayer battle (20 vs 20?) would be a hot seller. You could make one sim for the Xwing, and another for the Tie Fighter (and then more for other craft) and we'd buy them both. I'd preorder the entire lineup right now. Anyway, I know it is slightly OT. But I thought I'd put it out there.
