  1. Yes these are perfect! Thx for the screenies!
  2. Hi there Does anyone have a good head-on high-res image or picture of the A10C's UFC and the CDU? I can only find off-angle shots. The images in the Beta manual would be fine but it has tooltip pointers all over it because it is a part of the documentation. Thanks in advance!
  3. Been there, done that http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=55869&highlight=steam
  4. So glad to finally make it in here! Now that I'm here, I see there hasn't been any discussion about SLI besides my query. Running dual evga GTX 295 (quad SLI) on core i7 965 extreme on 6gb corsair ddr3. All graphics settings at LOW or OFF (eg. HDR OFF, etc). I have tried this in both 32bit and 64bit versions. When SLI is enabled, everything is normal until I reach the loading screen, the one with front view of the A10 and the bar graph at the bottom. Upon reaching the loading screen the entire screen starts flickering/blinking on and off very rapidly. Probably 10-15 flashes per second. The mission does eventually load. I get into the cockpit and the flickering continues until I exit out of the plane and return to the mission summary screen. When SLI is disabled, everything works fine with no flickering at any time. Is this a known issue? Any workarounds? Or should I just wait until the optimization build is complete? My FPS with SLI off and all settings at HIGH is reasonable, but I can see it drop to single digits when the MFD content gets complex. I know it would be better if I could use both boards and then I might be able to crank up the HDR and AA settings as well. Thanks!
  5. I see we must be about the same age....except the Atari 800 and C64 were near equivalent... I had the 800 so I take offense at the insinuation that it was inferior to the C64, when clearly the Atari 800 had a far superior color palette. :smilewink:  Ah, I remember the days when frame rate wasn't even a consideration.... If anyone is up for Pong I still have one in my closet.... Seriously though, perhaps we should wait for the final optimizations before we begin fretting about FPS.
  6. In case you didn't see my post...my solution takes this a step further allowing you to use clutch and gas along the single axis, vs using the brake, which often has a drastically different resistance compared to the gas pedal (meaning you will not get a linear axis if you use the brake in this way). It is very easy to mount a couple of switches inline of the potentiometer wiring. The switches allow you to swap brake for clutch. So when you go to single axis mode, you flip the switches, which allows for a more natural feeling rudder. In my setup, I never have to recalibrate or reset any commands in the game options as long as I don't unplug the controllers (in which case, your controller assignment is liable to hop around because of how windows handles USB assignments).
  7. This thread may help http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35901 Also, someone in that thread mentions that G25 has a single axis mode. My ECCI wheel and pedals are the same way. What I've done is to wire in a couple TPST switches so that I can swap the clutch and brake axis. When I enable single axis mode I flip these switches and this allows me to use clutch and gas as rudder. You press the clutch to nose left, gas to nose right. If you press them both then they cancel each other out of course. The gripe I tend to hear back about this setup is "but that isn't how rudder pedals really work!" so I will preempt that here by saying "who cares, I'd rather not switch out all that gear over and over". Any questions, PM me.
  8. I tried that this morning. No go. Nothing works. Is there a moderator in the house??
  9. FPS not great on this end..it jumps around a lot, but I am having to disable SLI to get the sim to load. There is probably a response to my query about this in the beta forum, but I can't access it. :music_whistling: I am running a Core i7 965 Extreme with dual eVGA GTX 295 video boards, via 6gb of Corsair Dominator DDR3. The FPS is good when I first start off (60+). It drops to the single digits when the view inside the MFD/mav camera/etc start getting complex. Turning on HDR is a big hit. Other settings seem to have no impact (AA, mirrors, shadows, draw distance, clutter). But those settings may cause the MFD complexity impact to FPS become greater. I'm going to reinstall with 32bit today so I can use my TrackIR and see if that makes a difference to FPS. I imagine that a lot of these issues will go away once optimization occurs. I sure hope this thread doesn't get moved to the nether-world of the mystery beta forum! I like being able to actually DISCUSS the beta!!!
  10. Day 2. Still nothing here. No button. It would be helpful if we could get a response of some sort. "We're working on it." or "It's not working correctly." etc so we know we're not skipping one of the mystery steps in this mystery process to reach the mystery forum. :D Otherwise we'll just keeping posting and posting because we don't know what's going on. I know the mods have jumped in to post links, but often that's the only reply we get. Sometimes it is a link to the forum where the help-thread is itself posted, which is very confusing. Sometimes the link that is posted is dead. Sometimes the link that is posted is to the very forum none of us can access.
  11. Ok, i've matched my email address. Jumped through all the surprise hoops and such. Nothing works. No magic button appears. This is just craziness. Being a forum admin myself, I feel for the malay of insanity the moderators must be enduring right now because of this ultra wacky process we are being asked to do in order to access a beta forum. As a usability engineer I have to point out that this workflow is completely unexpected. The problems and posts about this are not because we're all daft. It is because what we are being asked to do is completely out of the blue. Instead, why not just provide purchasers of the beta with a code or a link to a hidden forum? What's with all the email address malarky? Whoever set this up set up our moderators to work overtime, and for no reason. I feel your pain guys. I'm giving up now. Going to bed. Hopefully by morning I'll have access to this mystery forum. Sim looks great though! I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into it.
  12. But that link only opens the forum where this thread is posted. I'm SO confused!!!
  13. What did I do to offend the mods? My posts are being deleted without warning or notice. I realize mods don't have to warn or notify anyone, but I have to ask what's up? Only issue I've ever had here was when people harrassed me in the Steam post, but certainly that is not enough reason to delete someone's posts without warning? Please let me know what I did so I can attempt to remedy the situation. I love DCS, ED, and this forum. But if I'm banned or something I'd like to know so I can stop buying products, stop trying to contribute, etc. Thx EDIT: ok, now my posts are being moved, and coming and going.... no warning, no notification. And when i try to view the moved post the forum says the equivalent of "access denied". What is going on? lol
  14. SLI enabled = flickering Hi folks This has probably been covered, and I'll no doubt receive some flak, but I thought I'd pitch in... I searched on this and found nothing. When SLI is enabled on my eVGA/nvidia GTX 295 boards, DCS Warthog flickers when it enters the loading screen for a mission. It also will not load the mission. It just sits idle. However I am able to access Task Manager and close DCS to get things back to normal. Oddly, DCS does not close but instead returns to the mission select screen. When I disable SLI, everything works as it should. The sim loads, etc. Is this just a Beta issue? Will SLI be supported in the final release? I have never had this problem in any version of LOMAC or Black Shark. Thanks, and apologies in advance if this has been covered. If so, a pointer would help greatly. Thanks!
  15. Wow brother, I stopped paying attention to this useless thread long ago, yet you keep calling me out over and over. Good luck to you. EDIT: Removing my comments. They were aggressive and I was over-reacting to being crucified for sharing my opinion which was based on real experiences. Even though folks are personally attacking me for no reason is no excuse for stooping to the level of those doing the attacking. /ignore Succellus /unsubscribe This Thread /getting-on Life
  16. Somehow, you have topped yourself again GA. If the scene at 3:34 doesn't give you a hard-on then you should throw your flight stick the in trash right now and go play Cooking Mama Cookoff on your Wii. Off to watch this video every day until DCS A10 arrives on my drive. Thanks GA!!!!

  18. Cant wait to get back home so i can get back on the server!
  19. I came back to visit the thread and see what happened. Wow! haha At least it looks like we all agree that Steam is junk and should not be adopted. To any new readers just not hitting the thread, don't bother reading the old pages. Summary: Steam sucks! :D:D:D:D:D:megalol::megalol::megalol::megalol:   :megalol::megalol::megalol: (duckin and dodgin )
  20. I agree!!! Some Iraq/Saudi border maps would be excellent in the future as well. (hint hint) I'm hoping the Nevada terrain provides the foundation for simplifying that task.
  21. True, unless the only way to buy it or launch it is through Steam, which is what the anti-Steam advocates are suggesting is the concern.
  22. Every new pic just gets better and better. Thank you for the update!!
  23. Had to come back and address this post... -Every Steam game I have is 100% integrated into Steam. COD MW2. All Simbin Games. Arma. From my perspective, the scenery looks the exact opposite as what you describe it "less than 2%". 100% of the Steam games I play are all Steam. No stand alone component. And each of them started as stand alone and became worse games when Steam assimilated them. -I went round and round with both Steam and Infinity Ward about the issues I had. I gave each of their groups weeks of my time and patience. They both spent half their efforts blaming each other. And the other half going through the "I don't know how to solve a tech support problem" book for Tier 1 support specialists. So please don't lecture me on "blaming Steam". They are both responsible and accountable for working on their functional relationship in order to provide quality customer service. And with the money we pay for games we should not settle for anything less. -You say that version management is a non-issue but riddle me this...if the versions get out of sync then multiplayer compatibility and stability suffers, if allowed at all in that situation (which it is not). So the tools you mention to manage versioning are not sufficiently addressing the problems. -And to be clear, I have no issue with downloadable content. I love Direct2Drive. What I am against is Steam's totalitarian approach to how WE manage our content. So please remember, it's about perspective and experience. I have experienced all the pain Steam can dish out. And when I saw even the hint of a suggestion that ED go with Steam my heart dropped into my stomach. I actually felt nauseated at the idea. I'm only trying to save everyone here from experiencing the frustration and wasted effort that I have. If Steam hasn't bitten you yet, Great! But the clock is ticking and your time will come. To be honest, I was shocked to hear the support for Steam here. In my online racing and first person shooting communities, Steam is a vocally hated service and long discussed topic. I also love how I am branded a "hater" because I am honest about real experiences. That's not how the term is meant to be used. A "hater" is someone who just dumps on any and everything, for sport, with no logic or fact driving the decision. But if it makes you feel better about yourself to label and insult me like that, then so be it. That's not how I like to treat people.
