  1. Kudos to ED for the performance improvements recently that allow me to fly VR smoothly online on my laptop.

    Questions

Basically you can either use in-game PTT buttons or SRS PTT buttons. In my opinion it is better to just set them through SRS because otherwise you have to individually bind them for every module and search for the relevant controls which will be different for the F-18 and Huey for example. Then you can set SRS to "ALWAYS allow SRS hotkeys" and disable "Allow INCOCKPIT DCS controlled PTT" and the controls you set in the SRS controls tab should work. Another thing I do is "Radio switch works as PTT" enabled in the settings, then I map radio 1, radio 2 etc. Otherwise the radio buttons work to select the radio, and you have an additional PTT button. As a side note I also disable the transmission effects because some people already have poor quality microphones. With these settings you will still be able to tune the radios using the in-game radios of modules with your mouse, and can use the overlay for combined arms or FC3.
  3. Yes I think he is wrong, it should work fine. You may need to re-assign your controls by clicking "load" or whatever it is in the input assignment and selecting the correct files.
  4. Seems they have vanished from SkateZilla's post http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2548018&postcount=4 Anyone happen to have a list?
  5. As someone already mentioned, this exact same issue existed on the F-18 just a few months ago (firing 120 in TWS gave an instant RWR warning). It took a long time to get fixed as well. The conspiracy theory is ridiculous, just wait and it will be fixed. There are hundreds if not thousands of bugs that need fixing and it takes time.
  6. IMO Jester is not too bad. There are people that are successful using him even on PVP servers. There are some annoyances, for example when using TWS there's no way to force him to IFF a target or to tell him to change the Phoenix launch order, but hopefully heatblur will continue to improve him. Certainly it does not compare to a real RIO, but I think it would be a bad business decision to make the aircraft completely un-flyable without another person.
  7. You sure you are actually in afterburner (checked F2 view or fuel flow of 250+)? Or maybe too heavy or raising flaps too soon?
  8. In the F-18 I have found that the communications menu keybind (default of \ I think) will not work after take off with easy comms off. What works instead is the COMM 1 or COMM 2 bind.
  9. So I'm pretty sure I saw some video a while ago where the datalink contacts on the HSD were also repeated on the radar page, like in the hornet - has this been removed? If not, how to enable it?
  10. Thanks for the reply, I did verify already and it found 1 file to fix, but the crashes continued. I'll try a larger pagefile and hopefully either the DCS patch or Windows update today will help.
  11. Log attached. It doesn't happen every time, but most times. Other than that it seems to run fine. - On latest open beta - Windows 10 is up to date - Tried various nvidia drivers from the last few months - Tried validating files - Tried deleting fxo and metashaders dcs.log-20200414-203856.zip
  12. If you guys did not already, try to roll back Nvidia drivers to early 442.x or the latest 441.x, helps a lot. The 445.x is much worse for DCS performance.
  13. PTCL internet huh? :helpsmilie: But yes it probably won't be more than that, if I recall correctly from when I switched. At the time I had Caucusus and PG.
  14. Post a screenshot of your DCS graphics settings. The extra ram might help - I have a friend who went from 12 to 32 and it made a huge difference. Also the current beta has a lot of performance issues. It can be helped somewhat by going to 442.xx nvidia drivers, but for the rest we'll have to wait for a patch (or go back to stable).
  15. I rolled back to 441.87 and they got a bit better. Not as good as DCS 2.5.5 but much better than 2.5.6 with the new nvidia driver.
  16. When in dogfight mode or EEGS using the gun, the first target that the radar sees is locked up - but suppose there are two targets, and the wrong one was automatically locked up. How to switch to the other? Or unlock? Thanks

    TWS

So L&S will be the target with the star on it on the radar page. To cycle through and make different tracks the L&S, you use the undesignate button. To select a DT2, you press TDC depress, and that target will get a hollow diamond on it. After you do that, undesignate will no longer cycle L&S, but will instead swap L&S with DT2. The idea is that you select your two most important targets, then you can fire on the L&S, hit undesignate to make the DT2 your new L&S and then you can fire on it. So easy/quick firing at two targets. No idea about cage/uncage.
  18. Click on the Axis Tune button and you can set a curve from there, may help with sensitivity.
  19. I agree that we need the HUD symbol, but have you tried zooming out all the way with radar elevation while in wide? It's a pretty good view tbh, with FLIR off and the tpod looking forward you can see similarly to out the aircraft, especially on the AMPCD.
  20. Definitely won't hurt, and I did see some microstuttering go away when I upgraded to 32GB. Especially if you're running a bunch of stuff in the background (discord/TS/SRS/steam/whatever else).
  21. Yeah it's a personal preference thing - it can't hurt to have both since they are both great modules, but if you already have the F-18 then there is no "objective" reason to switch. One subjective one is that it's really cool.
  22. hornet > JF: Fuel is a pretty big one, don't get very much loiter time in the JF-17 without tanks. Aerial refueling is another - it may come later to the JF but not yet. Same for helmet mounted display and the AIM-9X to go with it. The radar is quite a bit better. Raw top speed is probably better. JF > hornet: That being said, the JF is definitely a cool and very different plane from the American fighters. The missile warning system is better in the JF. Has working AG radar now. Can carry 64 laser guided rockets (like SU-25T vikhr). Can probably get longer range kills at maximum with SD-10 than with the 120C. Maneuverability at slow speeds I think is better, maybe in general but I'm not sure (and depends on stores/weights).
  23. It's the truth, steady progress is being made and lots of things (to f18, to core, or to other modules) are added and improved all the time. Just gotta be patient and enjoy the journey lol. You telling me that without 100% features you can't enjoy it? Then you shouldn't have bought it in early access... truth is if you want 100% completeness and accuracy to RL it will probably never come because of classified or unavailable information. Might as well join the air force.
  24. Yeah nothing is complete yet, but they have made good progress, and we are continuing to see regular updates... and considering they early access (which the F-18 is still in) agreement imo that is all we can ask for: "Early Access is an option for you to play this module in an early state, but it will be incomplete with bugs. The time a product remains in Early Access can vary widely based on the scope of the project, technical hurdles, and how complete the module is when it enters Early Access. Eagle Dynamics and all of our third parties strive to make this period as short as possible. An Early Access module can be played on both the Open Beta and Release versions of DCS World. Once the module exits Early Access, you will automatically have the Release version."
