What is the point of trimming a cyclic with no springs?
McGraw replied to McGraw's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I'm not too fussed about pedals at the moment, I intend to get some dedicated ones soon. I'm also not sure why you keep tellling me to observe the controls indicator, I've run it for hours. The only thing trimming does is draw a rectangle around my controls. Nothing actually changes...unless I am not observing correctly? -
What is the point of trimming a cyclic with no springs?
McGraw replied to McGraw's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I know this for the real thing or a centring joystick but my situation is different. I effectively fly without ever trimming if I don't trim rudder. Im using a TWCS as centring trim mode paddles currently but have tried my racing pedals too in this mode. Ok, I guess I'm just playing along with the systems then. Fair enough -
I tried flying the apache first with no springs on my gunfighter then went back so I could fly fixed wing with no swapping around. I've decided I hate the centre trim mode. I can't bear the wobble when you trim then let go. So I've gone back to springless. Why does the trimmer mode for springless affect the cyclic as well as the rudder? I don't want the cyclic trimmed. If my cyclic stays where I put it then it is trimmed already. Telling the sim this is my centre point is absolutely useless as far as I can tell. Am I missing something or does it not affect anything anyway?

Thanks it does seem to work again be re WAS ing

Never had much of an issue before. PErfectly lined up, in range. Just get no acquire even though I'm tracking the moving tank If I fire sometimes they hit anyway ACQ is FXD, tried SKR too Anything I'm missing?

I'm definitely more love for the Apache these days now I'm getting more proficient. I'm trying to teach my dad to CPG and boy is it frustrating when stuff crops up in the middle of an engagement. It's literally like having a civilian get in the back seat and going off to war sometimes.

I'm getting better at hovering but I'm glad I've got a VKB gunfighter otherwise I'd be forever wondering whether it was me or the gear. Put someone in the back seat and you learn faster. I have had big trouble flying and hovering recently but slowly getting there.

I think my TWCS might have been coming loose. Redone everything now so hopefully that's the last of it

I spent an age assigning keys to all the Apache controls so I could use antimicro to map absolutely everything to my VKB Gunfighter, TWCS and Xbox One Controller. I saved backups. Now the assignments have disappeared. My Gunfighter buttons are fine. Here's the kicker, if I view the contents of the LUA file, the shortcuts are all there. I haven't unplugged my keyboard. Rescans don't work and neither do reboots. Can anybody help please? Thanks Edit, just realised there is no keyboard lua file in config now. Baffled Edit 2. adding back in an old keyboard lua file shows that my keyboard lua file was deleted and I didn't do it

I agree. We need something new.

SDBs- what are they and how would you use them?

You don't need to pre program in the f16 with the sniper, you just throw them at whatever the tgp is looking at. What causes the need for pre programming in the f15e -
Copying controls config to a secondary PC

They're separate? I can only find one file -
I'm starting to train my CPG and to make things easier, the intention is that his controls mirror mine exactly. I've sent him my Antimicro profile and controls lua file but it doesn't seem to be working when I load it. Left and right handgrip for instance have no assignments yet are well populated in mine. He has an xbox controller but none of my other kit (tracker/gunfighter/TWCS). He's also on win 10 and I'm on 11. If it helps, he has two folders, normal and open beta. I've added to both. I'm on open beta but moved from stable. His was straight from open beta. This seems like it should be the other way round to me Should this work? I really don't want to program it all again via anydesk. Thanks. Thanks.

Recently I've tried using my gunfighter sprung so I don't have to keep messing about with it moving from fixed to rotary. I've sussed the trimmer except sometimes it just sticks in place and the cyclic won't move forwards despite being trimmed at half way. Rocking it back and forwards releases it but I get violent movement afterwards obviously. Why is it sticking in place? Thanks

AGM-114L and you: Why shouting "I cast magic missile!" doesn't work
McGraw replied to NeedzWD40's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Surely the L's current best feature is being able to be fired and forgot? Pop up, fire, run away -
I've tried the centre joystick trim method. Can't seem to figure out when to return the stick to centre. Doesn't seem to work for me

Makes sense now. Oh yes, now it's making sense

What's the point of the force trim at all? Surely without it you're just free to move the controls in the real copter. Why have them almost glued in place? I use springless and minimal clutch VKB gunfighter. The stick stays where I leave it. Completely intuitive.

AGM-114L Radar Hellfire without the Longbow - how will it be used?
McGraw replied to backspace340's topic in DCS: AH-64D
Why is this of interest without the FCR when we already have a laser guided hellfire? -
In sim racing, having an accurate, or at least not an overly wide field for your monitor size and viewing distance makes it easier to be more consistent and perhaps faster. The benefits I can think of for this in the Apache is for realism, immersion, target spotting and matching your head tracker to the on screen results. I sit close to a 42" and like a realistic fov in the front seat but prefer to see a bit more in the back. You can only get a realistic fov outside vr is with a big triple screen set up so that the Apache mfrs are approx the same size as in real life. Otherwise you have to accept flying from the view from a go pro on the helmet.

In another sim I use them to kill sam sites with the F16. Easy to use, great standoff and you get to carry 8 instead of 2 HARMs. Pretty much all I use against static ground targets. -
Wow thanks, I'll take a look at this over the next week or so.
