I want to teach my Dad how to CPG in the most simplest and straightforward environment/way. Perfect scenario would be us both on the live firing range. Static military targets and some moving civ traffic perhaps or at least moving military that doesn't shoot back (I know I can set invulnerable but it's an unwanted distraction). Are we forced to join a server or can I host a scenario? Thanks.

We've heard nothing about anything worthwhile for a long time. Last mini update was of no interest to me and was September. Performance has regressed. I fired it up only to test my 7700x Vs my 4790. Everything else I tried from RDR2 to MSFS brought a smile to my face. This module feels awful even knocked back to 1080p to lock 60fps. Getting frustrated now.

Thanks. I'm hoping for max £750 for CPU/mobo/ram. I get more enjoyment from bang for buck even though I could technically spend more if I needed to. My 4790k is still soldiering on but it would seem a bit silly to get say a 5070 in the future and pair it with this platform so I have to upgrade eventually and my 3070 definitely has life left in it especially as the 40 series seems vastly overpriced like the 20 series (I might consider rdna3 but I like DLSS). I feel like a platform upgrade would improve my minimums etc. Although going gsync display felt like a massive upgrade on its own. I don't think I'd upgrade a 7600x before a couple of gpu swaps so it seems pointless getting one when the 5800x 3d would be cheaper and could win over time due to the extra cores. I don't do any productivity but psychologically cannot wait 8 years to replace my 4c/8t CPU for a 6c/12t cpu when the 8700k is already something many have upgraded from. It's hard enough to choose components at the moment if I was buying my first pc from scratch, let alone when I have a working system that I could keep running until the perfect time

Thank you. I did say I was using a 4790k which obviously means I definitely can't upgrade z97 to anything better. At this stage I'm mainly thinking of retiring my generally struggling CPU (igp has failed and it runs extremely hot even after a delid I tried to prolong its life) with a view to be able to upgrade my GPU a couple of times without bottlenecking the GPU. I can probably get £50 for the platform while it will works though. However, if I will see zero benefit from doing so I will probably run it until it dies. I strongly believe my experience will improve somewhat with a platform upgrade though and I can't use this system forever plus I want something to mess around with. I'm happy with a locked 30fps, I appreciate a 3070 is not really a 4k card but DCS is not pretty enough for its system requirements anyway and I won't overspend for this sim, especially as optimisations could eventually improve things.

Are either of these CPUs worth buying for a new build today? Moving from a 4790k with 16gb 2133hz. Or should I just spend a bit extra and get a 7600x or 13600KF? I game at 4k with a 3070. Not giving Nvidia any money this time. I just want a bit more consistency and smoothness, I'm not expecting higher frames. Should I be upgrading?

Use external view. It helps to understand a lot of things. I saw the tailwheel behaviours whilst practising takeoffs in external view

You say on the pad but are you on a slope? Both brakes off?

I just use anti micro and set all this up myself. Eg select button cycles between TV and flir

I learned early that you can't use tads with ghs as cpg when NVG in norm but sometimes ghs is not selectable when I have jumped into the back seat and left NVG in norm as pilot

Jut hold Lctrl and LAlt when you type and you can use your keyboard.

I've tried DSR, DLSS and just forcing 4k in the game. 2.25x DLSS is the same The game runs and looks fine but the AI interface is not visible. edit I’m running 1080p at the moment. I noticed this as I flip between this and a 4k monitor

I’ve been doing some testing with different options and hardware. It’s impossible to go from 0 to 50% without the dip. It must be a flight model issue whether accurate or otherwise.

Does anyone know why there are separate FOV hats on the TEDAC for TADS and FCR? I can only assume it's so that you can have individual zoom levels for the TADS/FCR that aren't affected when switching between these sources. Example is you get the TADS/Gun pointing somewhere and when you finish messing with the FCR, everything is exactly the same when you revert to TADS. I'm using an XBOX controller and prefer the FOV to control both TADS and FCR at the same time to keeps things simple. Do we think these controls could be tied together in the control mapping options?
