  1. That image is horrible compared to what I see. No other way to describe it. I could read all of those gauges pretty clearly and only see things start to fuzz out a bit at the periphery. Say the far left edge of the two left gauges to the very left edge of the image is where it starts to fuzz out a bit. But that is me with my 64 mm IPD and face shape, etc. It's definitely a negative not to be adjustable (IMO a $600+ VR headset should be adjustable). At least one can add padding to change the distance from the eyes.
  2. Did you read the post where there is a way to turn pixels on? (they may not be dead) I would talk to HP support on both issues.
  3. Rev - A is a change to the box and not the Reverb. The serial number is the only way I know of so you can tell if it is a fixed unit generally.
  4. If they look the same the Reverb isn't setup properly yet. Can you post what your SteamVR video resolution page looks like. Of course the Reverb doesn't have the SDE the Rift S has.
  5. It's very likely it still has a ways to improve. :smilewink:
  6. If HP gets their act together I think they will carry it. Several tech guys I know there play DCS. One helped me with my build. Micro Center buys heavily from HP. HP has made the retailers a little gun shy with the Reverb and messed up introduction.
  7. Right - my Best Buy is also ten minutes away (although the Magnolia store is farther when I did a home theater late winter). It's too convenient. :) All of the 4K UHD movies we have in the home theater just about were bought with Best Buy rewards and on sale. I wish our local Micro Center was a lot closer. They carry VR headsets as well. I suspect it will be at least mid September now before the Standards are out again. Hopefully earlier.
  8. I get 10% off for a birthday reward they are letting me reuse and 6% back for using their card. Then I have about $50 in rewards that came back when I just returned this one. I think the Standard cost me $460 plus tax. The early HP Pro I got was like $675 after tax. Then I can wait 12 months to pay for the Reverb no interest from Best Buy. I am always looking for a bargain I guess. LOL 45 day return period. Free 2 day shipping like Prime. Elite Plus benefits https://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp/my-best-buy-benefits/pcmcat1524605286758.c?id=pcmcat1524605286758
  9. Looks like the Standard Reverbs may be a while (end of September). Amazon added the listing back selling it themselves Prime. I may be forced into a Pro direct from HP again or wait a month for a headset. Nothing bad about it other than the price is a lot more than I can get the Standard for from Best Buy. Best Buy has not made the Standard listing active again. On the other hand HP is controlling what gets shipped much more rigidly now. https://www.amazon.com/HP-Reverb-Virtual-Reality-Headset/dp/B07R768KJP/ref=sr_1_1?gclid=CjwKCAjw44jrBRAHEiwAZ9igKJqs87cSPFPmS6APygLjc4GXhDhMr4D6c9engB3Rr2yhkkLzFYre4BoCkTkQAvD_BwE&hvadid=323365144792&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9022817&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=1999402810407140538&hvtargid=kwd-717347385341&hydadcr=7503_10674501&keywords=hp+reverb&qid=1566759683&s=gateway&sr=8-1 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-reverb-virtual-reality-headset-for-compatible-windows-pcs/6346254.p?skuId=6346254
  10. If only they would stop updating (changing) everything all of the time. :) I dread SteamVR and WMR updates.
  11. I think the latest versions of SteamVR and WMR for SteamVR updated the beta stuff to the normal release so I am not using the newest betas except for the WMR setting in Windows.
  12. So SteamVR thinks the hardware can't handle 90 for some reason. I think we discovered the problem. Others on here had the same problem with fast hardware in the past. You can try adjusting the SteamVR SS down. There can be a lot of causes. Is DCS PD set at 1.0? Remember though SteamVR is looking at the GPU primarily but there are other things like the HDMI/DisplayPort versions that might limit Hz.
  13. Is it set at 60 in WMR/Windows? Something may be afoot if it thinks it needs to slow down to 60 hz which has nothing to do with the Reverb. We have seen this problem before. If you choose Automatic, Windows Mixed Reality will determine and choose the best refresh rate experience for your PC's hardware configuration. For most people, this is the best choice to start with. If you choose 60Hz, the refresh rate of the headset display gets set to 60Hz, and some mixed reality features will be turned off, such as video capture and preview in Mixed Reality Portal. If you choose 90Hz, the refresh rate of the headset display gets set to 90Hz, and some experiences and PC configurations might not run as well if your PC doesn't meet requirements. How to Change Refresh Rate for Mixed Reality Headset Experience in Windows 10 https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/121081-change-refresh-rate-mixed-reality-headset-experience-windows-10-a.html
  14. SteamVR applies some SS if it thinks your hardware can handle it and it will look better. In the end the frames that are sent to the headset are always the native resolution for best performance even though the image may have been updated. In my testing with changing the setting I found their recommendation to be about the best performance wise. SteamVR tests everything (mainly GPU) upon booting to determine the optimal setting.
  15. In the end I went with the SteamVR settings and didn't touch the Application settings.
  16. I just returned my 2nd Reverb to Best Buy on Friday waiting for a new build when they get the Standards in stock again. Here was the last SteamVR video setting. This is a Standard Reverb
  17. I had no problem returning my first one to HP for a full refund.
  18. The USB port power flow/consistency was one of the most frequent problems mentioned in this thread but there are many others like drivers.
  19. But anything limiting the headset could cause the Hz switching/flickering. :smilewink: I had it switching to 60 Hz early on my new build but it turned out to be a software update back then. USB ports on some MB's are notorious for causing problems.
  20. Now I wear glasses all of the time (even though the prescription is minimal) and I still get excellent clarity through most of the screen. Stunning isn't too strong of a word for it. Unfortunately, I tweaked so many things to get it near perfect I think I forgot some of them. lol
  21. Here it is... I think this pretty well spells it out. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06318083 SUPPORT COMMUNICATION- CUSTOMER ADVISORY Document ID: c06318083 Version: 1 HP Reverb Virtual Reality Headset - Display Issues if Minimum System Requirements Not Met Notice:: The information in this document, including products and software versions, is current as of the release date. The document is subject to change without notice. 22. Both eyes flickering together does sound like something else like the Hz changing. This is the issue HP posted about that may happen if the hardware is not up to the minimum If I am remembering correctly. Let me see if I can find that again.
  23. I always wear glasses in the Reverb. For me there is no issues using glasses. What problem are you having? It is so easy to get the Reverb on and off in a few seconds with glasses and positioned correctly. I guess I don't understand that one. Airplane and target spotting at a distance is my criteria for which headset is best because that is how I win in DCS. Cable or brightness of colors just don't matter much. More FOV is a mixed bag in a VR headset generally. I do think these will go wireless at some point. I do wish Acer would release their headset on the consumer side using the same lenses as the Reverb for some competition. HP did a horrible job with their product introduction.
  24. For me the Reverb sweet spot is about 80% of the display (huge). The guy whose Valve Index I tried said for him the Reverb sweet spot was maybe 60% of the display. I assumed that was IPD difference since mine is 64 mm which is basically optimal but I think it is more than that. He also had to push the Reverb against his head for best display. Go figure. Since the Reverb lacks both adjustments on the VI it is likely it will not work for a lot more folks. I think we keep reading about the experiences of folks who physical characteristics are on the edge of the Reverb's specs who have problems with the sweet spot, etc.. It took me a full month to get the Reverb tweaked along with Windows (gaming performance tweaks), etc. It's a difficult process and some never get there. For me personally the Reverb is a solid notch in clarity above the RIft S or VI but I also thought the VI was a bit better than the RIft S in DCS when I tested them (distance spotting). Your mileage may vary. If only Valve had put out a 2160 x 2160 headset. :smilewink:
