  1. I think nearly everything was on sale as I bought the stuff from MC (you can buy online as well) plus they gave me a discount on anything that wasn't on sale of 10%. (I think it was because I was buying an entire PC build). I did just add a 1 TB Inland M.2 NVMe drive ($99 on sale) and cloned the bootable SSD/local drive to it for fast loading (Windows in about seven seconds and much faster on DCS loads) but it was about $3600 (after tax) total last March but I bought a decent gaming mouse and keyboard as well which you might not need and that included Windows 10 Home so that is maybe $250 one might not have to spend in an upgrade. The video card selection is the big variable. :-) The ASUS ROG Strix RTX2080 OC performs real well but is overclocked quite a bit. The new RTX2080 Super is arriving shortly ($699) so $100 less than the RTX2080 OC. Maybe the Ti's will drop. Most of the RGB stuff is software controlled these days. Even the mouse and keyboard via Synapse for Razer. AURA RGB for everything else. I have added an air purifier in the home theater and the board under the PC to minimize the dust buildup in the room and PC. The Corsair 570X case has filters and before the purifier they would get dust on them fairly quickly. Ideally there would be no carpet.
  2. I think the next time I would go Gigabyte. I guess it depends who one asks. I like the RGB options but many don't like that. https://www.pcgamer.com/best-gaming-motherboards/ Some friends are in awe of the RGB and others make fun of it. lol
  3. Cool. That is definitely the fun route IMO.
  4. Right - as long as it has an upgrade path to the next Intel chip you may need or other hardware changes you may need say twelve months down the road so you don't have to do it again. I bought everything on sale from Micro Center but built it myself and had a bugaboo of a time thinking there was a problem with the MB. I have my gaming PC setup in our home theater and use an 82" Samsung 4K QLED TV as the gaming monitor (which is fabulous BTW) but the ASUS MB would not recognize the monitor routed through an AV receiver to boot up. While there is a bios switch for this it didn't help. I ended up routing the video direct but wasted a lot of time (a full day) figuring it out. ASUS support helped a little. LOL DCS sound and music routed through a Dolby atmos AV home theater system is spectacular btw. The cockpit is HUGE. lol
  5. Right which means a MB like an ASUS ROG.
  6. That stinks. I guess haul it over to a Micro Center for an upgrade. Windows Mixed Reality PC hardware guidelines https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4039260/windows-10-mixed-reality-pc-hardware-guidelines
  7. I just asked Voodooimaxx what the Rev. A means.
  8. My Gen 1 box doesn't have Rev. A but it is a Standard.
  9. Yes - Thanks!
  10. Can you post a picture of the headset and the cable/connector for us? Thanks for the review!
  11. You mean you can't trust the Internet? Maybe it depends on which week one is using. ISO week date standard (ISO-8601), other systems use weeks starting on Sunday (US) or Saturday (Islamic). https://www.epochconverter.com/weeks/2019
  12. I have that one but never installed it since the MB worked fine. (US link) The 4-port option wasn't even 3.1 Gen 2. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073NZFM9V/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  13. I was just telling that guy that the 31st week is after they started manufacturing the fixes. My HP tech guy told me they were about to start manufacturing with fixes (Gen 2) near the end of the third week in July. I think if you have one manufactured in the 25th week it is a Gen 1 but there are some without problems. Just a guess from what I was told but I spoke to the guy a lot back then. Gen 1 red, Gen 2 green. He made it sound like there may have been a pause. Just a guess based on HP tech guy. I sure hope the Gen 2's are really fixed. lol Week 21 May 20, 2019 May 26, 2019 <=== My first one Week 22 May 27, 2019 June 2, 2019 Week 23 June 3, 2019 June 9, 2019 Week 24 June 10, 2019 June 16, 2019 <=== My current one Week 25 June 17, 2019 June 23, 2019 Week 26 June 24, 2019 June 30, 2019 Week 27 July 1, 2019 July 7, 2019 ? Week 28 July 8, 2019 July 14, 2019 ? Week 29 July 15, 2019 July 21, 2019 ? Week 30 July 22, 2019 July 28, 2019 Week 31 July 29, 2019 August 4, 2019 Week 32 August 5, 2019 August 11, 2019 Week 33 August 12, 2019 August 18, 2019 Week 34 August 19, 2019 August 25, 2019
  14. I am guessing since about two weeks to three weeks ago from what my tech guy told me. The trouble is knowing how/when they get assigned the serial numbers. Hopefully at the very end of the process.
  15. The PC power supplies tend to fail over time as well.
  16. If you are only using the 1 port the Inateck should be fine. They only have 1 controller. Oculus recommends the Startech or RocketU which have multiple controllers on the multiport boards. My ASUS Z390-E MB has been fine on the 3.1 Gen 2 ports.
  17. Yes the 31st week is after they resumed manufacturing with fixes according to everything I was told and read. Here is the manufacturer date structure for the Reverb according to HP. Example SN: CCSYWWZZZZ Y = Year WW = Week within that year.
  18. All of the DCS Reverb world is hanging on your review ASAP! :)
  19. I will take the bikini beach over VR any day unless there is a hurricane.
  20. I am sure they are the fixed ones short of HP lying. lol The main thing surprising me is they seem to have a lot more of them than the original release. Please let us know how it is ASAP. So far all I hear are Pro models shipping. HP said Standards are too and I am waiting for Best Buy to relist them so I can get mine replaced.
  21. Looks like a lot of stores are ramping up to carry the Gen 2 Reverb's. I wonder if the quantities will be higher than the first go around.
  22. Here is the serial number of the first one I returned to HP. This would have been a very early one. If that is right then it would have been manufactured in: Week 21 May 20, 2019 May 26, 2019 Serial number: 8CC921Z01V (if you get this one you know it was refurbished) Product number: 7DH40UT I ordered it June 1 and received it on June 10th. If the ship date for the Gen 2's is maybe 8/21 or a bit earlier than I would guess they are being manufactured after about the third or fourth week in July? So 9 30 or 9 31 or 9 32 or later? Hopefully, they are not fixing and shipping the first ones. lol Week 21 May 20, 2019 May 26, 2019 Week 22 May 27, 2019 June 2, 2019 Week 23 June 3, 2019 June 9, 2019 Week 24 June 10, 2019 June 16, 2019 Week 25 June 17, 2019 June 23, 2019 Week 26 June 24, 2019 June 30, 2019 Week 27 July 1, 2019 July 7, 2019 Week 28 July 8, 2019 July 14, 2019 Week 29 July 15, 2019 July 21, 2019 Week 30 July 22, 2019 July 28, 2019 Week 31 July 29, 2019 August 4, 2019 Week 32 August 5, 2019 August 11, 2019 Week 33 August 12, 2019 August 18, 2019 Week 34 August 19, 2019 August 25, 2019 Week 35 August 26, 2019 September 1, 2019
  23. Do it! (on the 1TB M.2 NVMe) My gaming PC is now Insta-boot. A huge price drop on the moderate speed M.2 NVMe (3100 - 3400 MBps) during sales (under $100) since they have delivered the ultra-fast new ones (Read Speed Up to 5000MBps). I use Macrium Reflect instead of Acronis. I was a long time Acronis user and stated having problems with it maybe a decade ago. They were modifiying the MBR. I think these days either are good.
  24. You are in the wrong section. There are many reviews on Valve Index, Reverb, and Rift S. https://forums.eagle.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=497
  25. I think you are asking about the 1903 update issues and yes those were resolved with a fix about a month ago. Now to complicate matters Microsoft just released a new 1903 update today and I have no idea if that will cause a problem. I halted my updates. Has anyone installed it?
