  2. 1903 with all cumulative updates.
  3. The way it was explained to me is if anything breaks that a part replaceable by the consumer they will ship it (controllers, ear phones, cable, straps, etc.). If it is the electronics or lenses in the headset itself they will likely replace it with a refurbished unit. They repair them but you will not get your original one back. It speeds up receiving a working unit. If they don't have refurbished ones they will send you a new one. The guy who told me that is from the group that handles it at HP.
  4. I was just on the phone with Best Buy on the Reverb. It does sound like this version will be stopped and a new version will be sold at some point but they have no idea when. They have delisted it as Unavailable Going Forward - not Out of Stock. It looks Like Amazon has done the same thing although there are third party sellers still selling it (Gen 1) there at outrageous prices. Now it sounds like I must return/refund it before then and wait for a fixed one. Best Buy said that they don't have any "spares" anywhere to replace it with to start the 45 days over. (as another 45 day loaner) Bummer. Well I will have had free use of two of them for 75 days in total. I was their beta tester. I can't go back to the Lenovo Explorer after the Reverb. I guess I will do TrackIR on the 82" Samsung QLED 4K until something becomes available after the 27th. Three and a half weeks will fly by. My last return date is: Returnable until Aug 27, 2019 I am glad Best Buy is about ten minutes away.
  5. It appears that Best Buy has delisted the HP Reverb. I just spoke to them and even though it isn't listed they do have a limited set of Gen 1 replacements in stock. With my 45 day return situation I am better off returning it and waiting for V2 it appears unless the 45 days starts over. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/virtual-reality-devices-and-games/virtual-reality-headsets-for-pc/pcmcat1476726957734.c?id=pcmcat1476726957734
  6. I think that just covers the connector to immobilize it. I did a similar thing with a 1/4" thick piece of aluminum and electrical tape. I have not had issues yet on this 2nd one but I just past twenty hours on this latest one which is when the first issue showed on the 1st one.
  7. Well - I have one but if I want a full refund I have to return it by about the end of the third week in August plus a few days to Best Buy. What is sad is the reputation that has developed now has many being returned that may not have anything wrong with them. HP has to be under some pressure to make some amends on the policy side until their product gets reliable. :smilewink: I am guessing it is getting time for the "See You In September" lyrics on the fixed Reverb. Could it take them six months to straighten this out? :pilotfly:
  8. It says when I got the one from Best Buy they were only online for 30 minutes before being sold out. As I suspected there were other issues besides just the cable issue. That update is from July 30th and they are just talking about the dimming issue? I see now why they are talking about a V2. The entire unit will likely need to be reworked. HP Reverb Still ‘Sold Out’ as Reports of Display Issues Continue https://www.roadtovr.com/hp-reverb-release-date-delay-slip-out-of-stock/ "Update (July 30th, 2019): HP had expected that new stock of the Pro and Consumer Edition Reverb headset would be available in July, though it appears that only a very limited number of headsets became available for sale. Users over at the WindowsVR subreddit spotted some stock at Best Buy earlier this month but said it was gone within 30 minutes. Presently the headset remains ‘sold out’ at HP.com, Amazon, and Best Buy, with no estimates for stock replenishment. A spokesperson for HP tells Road to VR that the company is still working on the shortage, but doesn’t have a firm timeline at present. HP maintains that the near unavailability of the headset is due to “incredibly high demand,” but a surprising number of user reported display issues, and a purported HP insider, tell a different story. Throughout July reports of display issues have continued, similar to those seen in June. A user on Reddit who claims to work for HP and be directly involved with Reverb said at the end of June that the company is actively testing returned headsets in an effort uncover the display issues. At present we are capturing DOA units to get an handle on all the symptoms reported and we’re plowing through any stock we have here to see if we can repro what is being seen. (I’m testing units at my desk as we speak.) Luckily, we found on[e] in the office that was having the dimmed LCD issue so we have a bit of a head start. The fixes will be implemented as soon as we discover what is driving them. (The ‘cable issue’ is the easy one had has been fixed already.) We hope to hear from HP when they have fully solved Reverb’s issues and the headset becomes readily available for purchase."
  9. I was told beyond the return period it becomes a warranty repair. I was also told that may mean a complete replacement but the unit may be refurbished at that point. I don't have a problem with that as long as there are no scratches on the lenses.
  10. Only my Pro model had three years. The Best Buy Consumer model is one year. I gather from the HP tech rep that they did that for the first batch of Pro's direct from HP for early adopters. It seems like they anticipated problems.
  11. The current HP Datasheet on the Reverb Pro now also says one year. That just makes it more appealing at places with the best return/refund policy IMO. I suspect the commercial customers are getting three.
  12. Those guys. Thanks for the work.
  13. The one I returned is still out there. This was a direct HP buy. How long do you have for a full refund?
  14. Too many layers of software. I won't update anything until you get it working again. Mine still works fine. What craziness.
  15. There are two parameters. "motionReprojectionMode" : "motionvector", "motionvector" or "Auto". I am using "motionvector" which is on all of the time. "Auto" turns it off when it hits 90 FPS or goes below 45 FPS. - - - - // Motion reprojection doubles framerate through motion vector extrapolation // motionvector = force application to always run at half framerate with motion vector reprojection // auto = automatically use motion reprojection when the application can not maintain native framerate "motionReprojectionMode" : "motionvector",
  16. Make sure it is an RTX2080 OC that can be overclocked. You can get it close to a Ti but it will still have less VRAM.
  17. I think I read changing the gamma setting affected the washed out color appearance. Maybe it's too high. What is it set at?
  18. I ran it like that for about a month and then switched it to where it is on all of the time with the other setting. It is even smoother for my setup. :smilewink:
  19. I have an ASUS Z390 OC. Maybe this will help. GIGABYTE Z390 9th Gen OC Guide & VRM Thermal Test https://www.tweaktown.com/guides/8812/gigabyte-z390-9th-gen-oc-guide-vrm-thermal-test/index.html
  20. I took it to mean a total recall/replacement was possible but I wouldn't count on it without an official announcement. HP does seem solidly behind the product so a recall would be easier than trying to contact every owner through the retailers and distributors. Valve basically did that on the Index controllers and I think it would help confidence in the Reverb.
  21. The O+ is never going to be near the clarity of the Reverb (better native resolution and sub-pixels). The LCD colors are a bit more washed out looking than OLED, however. If you really want to compare headsets objectively - try this app. below. It pretty well objectively rates and compares them all on every factor imaginable and you can do all of the tests yourself. I only tried the Snellen Chart last night with my Reverb and Lenovo. I decided the Lenovo is hard on my eyes. I can just see the 20/20 line with the Reverb at 6 meters. The Lenovo not so much. (it is bad) It even lets you test the sound quality. I just downloaded it and am just starting to use it a bit.
  22. I had a surprise call from HP Support (Omen group) today who was checking on whether I had received my refund on the first Reverb Pro. I actually had received it about two weeks ago or about five days after they received my return. I let him know I had a Standard Reverb that I was using from Best Buy (with a 45 day return) but would likely return it for a revised unit when they were available. He surprised my by suggesting there might be a V2 Reverb coming out with all of the fixes as opposed to just a replacement cable and very soon. That makes me think there may have been an issue(s) besides just the cable or maybe replacing part of the cable isn't enough. He wouldn't commit to a V2 being official yet versus just sending replacement parts. He said he would call me again when they were shipping since I still want a replacement. Despite the new product release problems they have been very responsive to me at least with good customer service.
  23. This may be a ripoff but I picked this up to try for $3.99 since they have updated it for most VR headsets. I was really just looking for the Snellen Chart. I didn't have much time tonight but tried it for a few minutes and it is very clear in the Reverb. It does have results from other headsets to compare so it is an objective set of tests. "Check your HMD with TestHMD. Compatible with Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift S, SteamVR headsets (Vive, VivePro), Vale Index, Microsoft Mixed Reality (Samsung Odyssey, Lenovo Explorer, HP Reverb) Know the limits of your headset!"
  24. Yes those plastic protective covers on the inside of the headset have caused many Reverb's to be returned. (a guy in my own squad fought it for a few days before he asked about the same thing) That is the first thing I thought of when I saw that "SDE". That is not SDE. I bet it is blurry too. HP should have stuck a piece of labelled cardboard in there and said remove these covers IMO. I saw them when I checked to make sure the lenses weren't scratched from the factory.
  25. I think for optimal performance in terms FOV and the sweet spot 63 or 64 mm IPD is best. The further you get away the worse it gets and pretty quickly it seems. At least one review suggested that 60 - 67 was about the maximum usable range in practice (not HP's guideline) but things quickly diminished after that. The guy who tried my headset with the Valve Index I tested was 69 mm and his experience was suffering a lot compared to mine at 64 MM on the Reverb (we used the main menu in DCS to compare the sweet spot and FOV each of us had - I was shocked at the difference in view and clarity between us (64 mm and 69 mm). I think that is a negative of the Reverb. The optimal IPD range is very tight. Then there is the distance from the eyes to the lenses which is also not adjustable on the Reverb but it is on the Valve Index. Some have found that adding padding to the face pad helps if the lenses are too close to their eyes. (affects FOV and halos appear) From everything I have personally tested and read I would not recommend the Reverb to someone with an IPD of 68 or more. I have not heard from many on the lower end of the IPD range.
