  1. BS is definitly the best Ver. 1.0 game I have purchased in a very long time. I am confused by the OP's remark.
  2. Thanks for the tip!
  3. This is exactly what the problem was. When I finally got TrackIr working I thought it was just a fluke and I would never know the cause, but since I have verified that having the moving heads and possibly the graph window open causes the TrackIr program to freeze as the mission starts. Now I start with DCSmax and only the main TrackIR window open and it works every time. Problem solved.
  4. After two days of testing reinstalling and checking and rechecking settings, my TrackIr miraculously started working in BS. I'm a happy boy now, but I really hate it when a problem is solved without understanding the root cause. I'll not look a gift horse in the mouth though. I am having a blast. I thank everyone for there input.
  5. I have updated my software and game profiles and am running BS profile. I tried disabling Aero but no joy. Not quite ready to fall back to previous version Trackir as BS is supposed to require the latest version.
  6. My TrackIR4 works fine with Flight Sim X but not in BS. It works in the TrackIR heads window before I load BS, but quits when BS loads. I am running V4.1 Build 36 TrackIR, and running both TrackIR and BS as admin. I have BS in my TrackIR profile. Any ideas? I am getting desperate. Oh yea, I forgot to mention my specs: Q6600 @3.1GHz 4GB, Memory, 8800GTX Video, Windows Vista 32bit
  7. Any gadget is fine with me if it helps suspend disbelief.
  8. At the risk of sounding thick, what is TWR?
  9. Roger on that, I got my GoGamer notice today also. So 2 or 3 days for Priority mail to get BS the 2,000 miles from California to my house and I'll finally be airborne!
  10. Actually I don't think the UI is slower because of UAC, but mostly because the Aero GUI has a lot of rendering overhead. I have always run XP in Classic Theme because the XP theme was so childish and butt ugly. The Vista Aero theme is beautiful but takes a bit of time to render. If I turn Aero off and choose Classic Theme, Vista responds as quickly as XP running the Classic Theme. But, I keep the Aero on because I like the look and the delay is minimal with my Q6600 @3.1GHz. Aero seems to have no effect on games running full screen as it is essentially shut off when the desktop is not displayed. I get the same FPS in full screen games with Aero on or off.
  11. One of my all time favs. Right up there with Janes Longbow and F-15. The thrill of flying NOE at 500 knots can't be beat.:joystick: Chances for a DCS Tornado are surely slim, but it would be a great opportunity for some great co-op on line play with this 2 seater bomber.:pilotfly:
  12. I don't think I am ready to debug another new operating system. I think I might wait for Windows 7 SP1 before making the switch as it usually take MS that long to get an OS stable. I have two computers running Vista and after learning the ins and outs of UAC, I prefer Vista over XP. EDIT: I may have to revise my position on Win7. I have not been paying very close attention to the new windows developments and having dug my head out of the sand :megalol: just realized that Win7 and a touch monitor and BS would be pretty cool. I need to switch from 32 to 64 bit OS anyway.
  13. Personally I prefer the co-op play over the competitive multi player. I enjoy the team aspect and simply deplore the Quake shoot everything in sight style.:pilotfly:
  14. I'm in. I would prefer a ring bound first or spiral bound second.
