  1. New Preview up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJqRiaC-6fY As always, make sure you click "HQ". :) The mod is basically complete on the sample side, i basically changed everything - a total of about 225 files. Too bad that most of these you won't hear ingame as it stands. This is because only a fraction get actually utilized by the engine. Many units share sound files ... why the M163 uses the same sample as the M242 Bushmaster &others, although there is a dedicated "Vulcan" .ogg present in the effects folder, is beyond me. There are dozens of such examples. Unless someone finds a way to assign sounds to a specific unit, the realism in the audio department leaves alot to be desired, no matter how high the quality of the samples used. Currently i´m tangling with the sound configuration file and it's variables, to make it sound halfway decent ingame.
  2. * Collidable, AI-LOS blocking vegetation * Proper reaction of AI Ground units to aerial threats (dispersion, use of smoke) * Fixed sound engine
  3. If you've already downloaded the initial package, please check out the current release. Do the same with the contents of the sound/effects folder. Tip: A good method is to .zip or .rar the files. /= W A R N I N G = 1. Clean out the sound/effects folder, delete everything except the zipped archive of the original files you just created as backup. 2. Unzip BattlefieldFX.zip into your DCS installation directory. Plane.cfg, Sound.cfg and SoundDescr.lua go into your /sound folder. All audio files must go into your Sound/Effects folder. 3. Delete SampleDurationTable.lua in your /sound folder. This is necessary, so the database can be updated for the correct sample length.
  4. Thanks :) sounds tempting, but by now i have basically everything except weathering and text layers merged down. Redoing it from ground up would take quite some time. I´ve also got another project i´m working on currently ...
  5. Hi oho, i used http://walkarounds.airforce.ru/avia/rus/kamov/ka-50/index.htm as reference, it's the only KA-50 cockpit walkaround i know of. Most of the photos there are too small, or are unusable because of the excessive flashlight reflecting from the panels, to be used directly as fototextures ingame. So despite having this source, most is done by "hand" anyway. Could you post a pic of the "Delle"? I´m living in Düsseldorf. best regards TR
  6. Glad you like it. I couldn't get in all the details i wanted to, that is because i lack any skill in the 3D department. Hope someone will redo the 3D interior and accordingly the texture mapping.
  7. :D Some subtle pirate marketing move, i like it. Next time i head over media markt, will do the same.
  8. SharkPit 2.0 Cockpit replacement Textures for the DCS KA-50. D O W N L O A D http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=67&file=1054 ModMan package at a later time. Enjoy :)
  9. You can take that as an artistic statement towards russian engeneering and the overall crude and makeshift character of their creations ... :D No, seriously, we already had that a few pages earlier. :) I´ve only seen cockpits of 2 KA-50`s, one was blue, the other black - a real dilemma  If we talk about details, we should start with the actual 3D model and the texture mapping.
  10. I pretty much have everything together now, this is going to be the last WIP update - unless anyone has some really splendid reference material he wants to contribute. @ psycho, are you sure that's a marking and not some jpeg compression artifact? :D In any case, i added a marking on the ADF channel selector! Russian Pit for a change:
  11. I´m still looking for some detailed close-ups of the flight instruments, preferably where the engravings, serial numbers etc. are clearly visible. In the meantime i redid the night lighting, russian panel labeling and added some more detail. Going to post an update later.
  12. I´m not sure, guess a start would be to take a look at the Bazar/Effects/ folder. You might also want to check out smoke mods that have been already done for Lockon, i.e. http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=22 Good luck.
  13. Very nice! Most of the time i can be found skimming at altitudes to really appreciate it.
  14. me neither, i actually thought something was wrong with my BS installation, because even the Handbook states "Press&hold the trigger for about 1 sec".
  15. Been looking forward to this!
  16. It doesn't matter what you play, but how, and often, with whom.
  17. At times AF& FSAA does wonders to aged graphics. Couldn't play BS without.
  18. Alright, got that corrected  Seems while doing this i´m also learning a few words in russian along the way. Until know i didn't touch the RU pit, looks like i´ll reconsider for my next campaign.
  19. :D If someone translates the marking, why not? While we're at it.... @ Frakin' Toasters i can't really help you with your modded russian version. However, you could try to manually replace the contents of the respective .cdds file via .cdds explorer. Switching cockpit lettering ingame won't work this way though. It`s called 2.0, as i do regard stock textures as 1.0 :D
  20. @smoky checksix is currently down, apparently the host server has been hacked  No word yet on when they'll be back online ... The new pics posted are WIP on final version, just to show some changes made. There`s not going to be another WIP/Beta, as it would likely create some confusion later, on what to actually download. The idea behind releasing a preview version was to get feedback on how it would link up with the different local releases of BS. But of coarse also to get some input on the new textures, i.e. reference material, or suggestions based on fact. Here the feedback was rather meagre. Infact the reference material i currently use is the same i started out with. Obviously alot more has been published on the SU's and Mig's than on the KA-50. @crazysundog i use Photoshop to create, and currently NVIDIAS .DDS plugin to save ... The latter seems to have some trouble with PS/Vista or/and my system setup, and often causes screen corruption when trying to change .dds settings. Luckily ATI`s Compressonator tool seems to be a valid alternative. Going to keep you posted on progress, currently i´m just cleaning up some textures and add a few details here and there.
