Target with Cougar? I was in update mood and switched my cougar from foxy to target. Target looks really useful (especially the scripting part), but it's kinda... weird. If I try to generate an event, it gets only generated if I chain the same event 4-5 times. The target gui does this; however, if I get into scripting, it just doesn't work that way. It's really... weird. Does anyone have any example scripts not for the Warthog, but the Cougar?

Aerial Refuling / mission building?
Haggart replied to Haggart's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks for input - according to manual, refueling task makes the Aircraft with that task go refueling; aka if you'ld let a circling E-3 refuel while on station. There's no possibility of setting offload max in FC2, sadly... and the tanker crews never behaved very... intelligent :/ something like "if I tell an aircraft Cleared contact I should continue straight and level instead of flying curves" would be a minimum ;) -
Hello all, this is about a thematic multiple threads exists for, but I don't find any solution in the existing ones. in a mission a few days ago flown in our squadron, we'd an Eagle squad deep inside enemy territory. Inbound to homeplate, a refuling by an KC-10 was scheduled. But after two refuled Eagles, the tanker raised the boom and didn't want to lower it, even while an Eagle was in the box. Now I built a test refuling mission and encountered that problem again, and another - I gave the tanker a 40miles-track with two wp and set them to begin/end loop. However, the tanker seems to be constantly in a turn when I try to refuel. I can't post the first mission for it's disclosured, but the second was rather simply anyway. Anyone any idea?

Starting with this? Fifou - nice of you to contribute ideas, but why don't collect them all instead of spamming? Or, go directly to ED and make them a work offer...

I've also a 920er lying around, bought solely for LOMAC a few years ago ;D perhaps an petition?

Which also adds a new level of ground combat! Man-controlled cruise missiles! ;D -

And it reached this speeds by a "normal" built engine, to add this. No Ramjet-tech! (Which would be an kinda interesting technology mix... anyone an idea for a fighter with a turbo fan- AND an ramjet-drive? -

Yeah, it could, but only if someone's there to pay parts, fuel and pilot to do so. -

Though I Fly Through the Valley of Death I Shall Fear No Evil For I am at 80000 feet and Climbing. I doubt we would get the scenario... but it would get us a hell playground of missions "This is Crystal Palace, we've multiple red birds in the air" - SIOP's-Combat in the polar region, fly under the radar around Elmendorf, ... Kinda scary, but also very intense! -
Ah - you want to have movable mirrors? I understood you'ld want to click on them to make them disappear etc...
-
Uh... no? Mirrors are mounted permanently. With screws. Most Pilots aren't taking srewdrivers with them on a flight and they mostly dont have the time to make a break on the side of the air way to disassemble a mirror. So, no, it'ld be really unrealistic. Beside that, I still dont understand why you would do that? Reducing your SA?

Yeah.. Su-27 with fully working Electronics against F-18 launching from a Carrier - advanced amphinious operations - dream with me.. ;) -
Good idea, but I'ld like to see that with an Mig-29 with AFM. The Fulcrum was developed for such tasks, and we've enough streets in the kaukasian region long enough for such operations. Hell, I once downed an Eagle without gear and engines on such a street, a fully working Fulcrum should get there easily ^^

Sure, I simplified it - in optimum, you've a simulation of every real existing piece, of the fuel stream waves in the pipes to the engines, of the force interacting with the steel wire acting the rudder, etc... but you can't simulate it all, you'll have to suck it ab to different areas which you model so that they behave according to their real opponents. What my message was: you can split these calculations, break them down, process them parallel (Cuda and the AMD-Implementation are primitive basics for such tasks), and merge them again to a flight movement, which then is sent back to the client. Moving that in a cloud would be splitting the parts over different servers. Just model the real world and simplify the model.

It should be possible in a finite amount of time and money. But, it's risky and it needs some really exact developers. Think about it: what would we try to achieve? Two things are the basics: 1) we're trying to simulate a world physically, and 2) we're trying to display a world. 1) is kinda... "simple", because we've a finite world, a finite amount of physical core data which has to be calculated for every client, and we could split the physic-calc on server/client. Example: 2 Demosquads in a wood, 1 Hog 300 feet above, a flanker and an eagle in CAC on Angels 20. Who needs what? Everyone needs the position and vectors of all other objects, including weapons. The jets don't have ground interaction - they need per-flight flow calculation of the airstream. They also need weapon data, which is a kind of interaction, so weapon ballistics should be calculated server-side. The Hog needs per-flight flow calc and ground interaction... but only throgh weaponary, so lets calc that serverside. The squad an the ground... they primary need ballistics for small-arms-fire, flow calc for pressure waves of the GBU impacting; both serverside. All objects need client-simulation of weapon systems (the infantry calculation of muzzle dirt, the Hog the state of the programmed GBU, etc.) 2) The world simulation is more simple. It just needs to be scaled correctly, depending on what client you're simulating. Infantry likes to see the bark of the trees, but they aren't interested in the tree size on the next hill; the low-flying hog is interested in obstacles, but they only have to be displayed exactly in an specific blob, in which reconnaissance and engagement happens, the jets only need an rough ground displayment, but would like to see the eyes of the other pilot... And: the server-side calculations could be displaced in a cloud, so we need some kind of netcode synchronisation. Its all about splitting things in the correct portions. 5 years, three programmer teams a 15 people and much, much coffee.

In my opinion, it sound's a bit like leaking capacitators, where the capacitator liquid reacts with the oxygen - had that in a PSU of an external RAID-drive some time ago, took me some time to find the failure 'cause the voltages kept kinda stable - but if it's that, it's possible that your PSU will die soon. But - if it dies because of that, it's unlikely it damages anything else :) Is it more like a whine or more like a high flowing sound (like someone who whistles very, very high and soft)?

Because most of the Super Hornet's electronic equipment is still classified. For example, even if they had access on the ALE-50-decoy-characteristica, ED would'nt be allowed to use it accuratly in a open simulation because it's classified in the B-1B-bone-servicearea, the APG-79 is a high-level-ASEA-radar which is top secret and the ASQ-228 (the advanced FLIR for the hornet)... is a thing the navy wouldn't really like to share the exact specs with the open. Carrier service techs, tell them! xD So - no super hornet. The Tornado or Mirage would be interesting, I second that opinion, but they don't have the advanced capabilities off the F-15E / F-18E which ED would like to simulate, too, I believe... -
Hey, does somebody know how to call an dll by the export.lua? There's the gaming vest out in the field which simulate body effects with the help of air pressure chambers in the vest. The problem: they only support some egoshooters. But they're offering an C/C++-SDK (here). I now thought about implementing a little dll which gets the desired effect (g-curve etc) and convert it to the desired effect. Any idea to that concept?

Stay realistic, guys - an Eurofighter is as sure out of range as the Super Hornet. Classified. It's between an F-16, F-18C and possible F-15E (which would be nice for teamwork nbut singleplayer-caps would be limited so its not a propable choice). Why dreaming about unreachable stars when the moon is as nearly exciting? -
And what exactly do you like to achieve?

Only a despaired commander orders long range artillery barrage into a combat zone where own troups are in close combat with hostile forces. One breeze, and you won't need a medivac, but a priest. Thats the point where CAS enters the game - an "intelligent shell" connected to the ground troups, which is able to sort out hostile troups only a hundred meters away from your position (IF sparky on the ground is able to guide in the CAS precisely). -
Supported, fascinating idea for creating unusual missions...
