Hey guys, today, I met a gread guy with a great project. Preface: I'm habitated in Frankurt, Germany, and a few month ago a simulation center opened their doors. Because they're nearly directly in front off my house door, I sent an application if they'ld need anyone. Today, I'd my job interview for an internship and the head welcomed me. Now to the problems/concrete ideas: There're two F-16-cockpits built up with all switches etc, but not fully wired (he talked about getting them from an belgian complete-manufacture, but I didn't got the company name). They got working MFD's, so. The view is projected upon a 3 meters high 180°-projection surface by two beamers. Until now, the whole thing is based on FSX. I had the idea of integrating the whole package with LOMAC. What would be needed for that? -How to display a only-flight-view without cockpit in LOMAC? -How to project that optimal on a cylindrical surface? -How to integrate the MFD's with true instruments? (I looked into Helios and GEAR for that, perhaps there would be a solution that way) -The displays are steered via "Project Magenta", an FSX-interface. Does anyone know how to integrate this with LOMAC? The first question is the most important problem. Anyone any idea how to switch off any cockpit display? Best regards, and if it works, there could be the chance to get a LOMAC simulation center up and running here ;P

I tried the Saitek normal version, the old CH's and I found my salvation in the Simped F-16's - not only from the Resolution but also stability and feeling.

The future of LEAVU, a more general tool?
Haggart replied to RvEYoda's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Could you at least hand over your source repo or give someone the sources so community development could continue? (: That would be nice - I'm developing in java and netbeans myself and perhaps I can push it up sometimes. -
Good idea to bump this up. Upwards and onwards... who would be in? And when? I'ld propose this saturday, 1900 - aka 071900JAN11 - same teamspeak and mod as before.

Thanks! I'll definitivly experiment and report back.

Why hasn't anyone yet mentioned the non-working (or, more fatal, wrong-working) HSI in AC-mode? This can be from annoying (when in navigation training) to fatal (in Air Combat, receiving a threat in rel to BE for example). I know that bug's relying deep in the avionics code, but everything is subject to change and so there's chance anyway it's looked into, right?

So group and unit are probably extending the controller? Yeah, I'ld be real greatful. It's nice to use complex trigger solutions, but a script is often way cleaner in my experience.

Hey, now that bs2 got the mission editor of the warthog, I'm eager to get my horses running with all that possibilities. I'm aware that I'm able to use lua-scripts for unit behavior (for example at the special task-conditions), but I'm unable to find any reference, which lua-libs and function()s are available. I'm thinking of the possibility to use a script in the following way: tank2InsideZone() if distance(tank2,zone1) < 200) return true; while(tank2InsideZone() && tank2.alive()) tank1.setTarget(tank2) I'm aware that this task is also achievable by usage of triggers, but it's only an not-so-complex example, and I'm way faster at lua scripting then trigger-building ;)

Hey, sorry to mention something kinda offtopic, but tietze, did you wrote your college exam or something similar shortly? I'm wondering (and somewhat impressed) because of your massive use of cross references and sub notes... if only my papers would look that way ;)

Ok, I'm again officially in love with your, Wags. No problems during install (procedure was: "uninstall all" in modman, uninstall 1.0.2, install 2.0), setting up my axis statements, loading an old mission and whoops! I'm in the cockpit, hearing the ****IN' RAINDROPS! <3 Great job (even with my previously stated critism ;P).

I really dont understand the complaining about the 20$ IN THE WAY THEY'RE DONE. What I mean is this: We do get essentially a new product; new engine BASED ON the Warthog-engine, new core systems etc. 20$ for this kind of dev time is small money, because you can't just take a totally different product and convert it on the fly. Which leads me to my critisizm. What the hell is going on with the modular concept? I've the feeling the dev's are on the wrong way if we count only the commercial non-secret part. What we have, is an FC2-engine and a warthog-engine, and with this upgrade, we integrate the shark in the warthog. What we need, is a speratly branch for the engine, which is completly seperated and independend maintained from the flyable modules. Which would mean. seperat bought engine and seperate updates. But, that would mean to have a big split, extension of inner-product API's etc. And thats a big additional work part, especially if it's like when ED has to develop in cases (once an Warthog for the USAF, once a Fighter for the Navy, etc). And considering the time we're in the dcs-series, I don't see there's a reasonable way to switch to a fully modular concept. But anyway, loading up my debit card now.

As mentioned in the other thread, I replaced my cougar throttle with a warthog throttle, and now the Cougar Throttle is dusting away in a corner. Because that's kinda sad, I'ld like to give it a new home for 50€ + shipping. Ideal if you want to use your Cougar for Jets AND the shark and want to mount a dedicated collective, for example. Positioned in germany, free shipping there.
-
Hey out there, because I'm only using my Warthog throttle in combination with the Cougar, my Warthog stick is useless and only covering in dust. I bought it shortly from Batf1nk; it's tested working. Asking price 150€ plus shipping (will mail free in germany), serial number is 00058. //EDIT: And the stick is located in middle germany and would also be pickup-able there. (:

Sorry, this experiment in many flavors was already done a year ago, I even took it up to the next level and tried a VMware ESX-cloud. No chance at the moment.

The Cyborg Evo is fully programmable by the Saitek Programming Software, which should have been delivered with the stock on the cd - OR, you can download it for free on the saitek-website under downloads. With the profiler software, you've more possibilities to program your stick and in my opinion, it's easier to secure so-saved profiles instead of having to dig through your LOMAC/DCS-folder.

Advice on adding another 8GB of RAM
Haggart replied to JAG's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Other Hardware. 8GB should be sufficient. -
What a stick do you posess? You've two possibilitys in my opinion - modify the axis settings in the LOMAC-configuration (via the options-panel) or via a configuration editor for your stick (if there is any - depends on the stick). I'ld recommend your a bit bigger center-deadzone to start with, and then increase the curvature so that it's more flat in the middle and exponetially increasing towards the sides. Experiment!

Yip, I had some over as spareparts and decided to integrate them in the cooling cicle (: -
Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Haggart replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The main problem with that is that what we're using here are basically military training simulations converted for civil purposes. And that stuff just isn't open for extension easily, because it must be able to be trusted in full extent. For everything we can fly with, a military contract pre-existed. Altering this concept would mean giving access to the code and integration features and making them vulnerable. Besides, giving the possibility to integrate own aircraft just by alteration of some files would hurt the business possibilities of ED and the community expectation massivly - when everything is available by community hands, what is there left to expect from ED? As much as I hate to wait (no pun intended), I fully support the business concept of the modularized DCS-series because I see the necessity and I really don't trust people to get the thing right without beeing paid for over several month, no matter how enthusiastic they're. -

Because you recognised you're unable to connect your Warthog to your smartphone? ;P -
Will there be any upgrade to LOMAC at all? Srly, buddy, I really like your ideas, but we don't know even if there will be an improvement of any LOMAC at all. I think you should try the SAMs in DCS and wait for the next module... (:
