If I remember correctly, it doesn't matter, both are just a formfactor of the same datastream, so there's no information loss in any direction intended.

Yeah, really looks awesome. How's the fabric? It looks kinda old, but that's not necessary a con..^^

If the mobile connection is suitable, it could be an option. How far away are you from the next bigger settlement? And how's the enviroment around - sounds more like plains, which would be good, but it's allways risky. If the enviroment is suitable and you're lucky, you could get at least 3 - 5 mbit out of the mobile. But 1mbit is pretty okay for flying, you've a slightly higher ping, but as long as you've autoupdates etc controlled, it should (should!) work. Anyway, wishing many delight with that house, it sounds beautiful (:

What is a Cheksum Utility and What are md5-hashes?
Haggart replied to ErichVon's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Uhm - if I understand you question right, you're kinda misunderstanding the principle, no offense :) Checksums are like a principle to check the integrity not only of code, but any available data. They work by mathematically sum up a big portion of data (from kilo- to petabytes) into a 32-character-long string, which is mostly unique to a data package. That means every file has it's own hash, and because the string is so short, you could print it beside the download link to a big file and the downloader could calculate the hash of the downloaded data package, compare the hash and doesn't have to double download the whole data package to check on data integrity. Sorry if you got that part allready, don't wanna sell you dumb. I allways use SummerProperties; that's an explorer extension which displays the MD5- and other checksums in the properties-tab of a file and works also with Seven x64. Hope that helps. -
To throw in my two cents: the "I don't want to see any gorram gore in this flight simulation" makes me kinda angry. I AM against going into gore specifics in DCS - but mainly because it's not necessary and would use up much needed dev ressources. Wanting to see no gore in this simulation means closing the eyes infront of the things simulated in my opinion. Nothing you do IS friendly, after all. Yeah, you're in 2000 feet and climbing for sure. But the switches you flipped and the buttons you pressed HAVE an impact on someone on the ground, in the air, or wherever, and most time, it's a deadly impact (no pun intended). And with that conscience, I fly. Like I would kill real people instead of pixels, because in the end, if I'd fly for real, it would be that way, and closing the eyes about consequences of my switch-flipping is the wrong thing to interact with this moral questions. It's the same thing why I'd be interested in a proper simulation of nukes in DCS - because they exist and they kill people like the GBU you drop, just... more at a time and in a more cruel way. Don't call me maniac for all that wooly thoughts - I'm just trying to remind in the end we simulate killing of humans, and closing the eyes about that fact is something wrong to me.

Been there, done that... Yeah, but's not working the way we'ld love too. Ground's not detailed enough for that, need to see the grass shimmering by my wake and the trees blurring while they fade behind me... Otherwise, it'll still stay just low controlled flight. I love the idea of adding some motion blur. as long as it's subtle. Especially for the Shark or a possible FC3, where there's crown truncation with my eagle burner's... ;)

Yeah, dangerous waters is fascinating, I remember days when we sit with 5 people+pc's spread over my basement in one sub, them manning different stations, me having the SA... then I walk to the coffee machine in the ground floor, and someone shouts "TORPEDO IN THE WATER!" from down there... I don't remember having ran that stairs ever that quickly down... xD Anyway, something like basic naval warfare in DCS would be cool, sure, but we probably should remember it's primarily a flight simulation (no offense :) ), so as long we have the possibility to build such situations by trigger, I'm satisfied.

The future of LEAVU, a more general tool?
Haggart replied to RvEYoda's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hey - if you need sometime again an Eagle-jockey for testing, contact me by ICQ/MSN - I've basic knowledge of java and debugging and know how to handle conflicting software ;-) -
Force sensing a bad gimick? No sir, I'm using force sensing in my cougar for nearly two years now and love it so much I'm only using the warthog throttle in combination with my cougar. It's way more precise and a better control feeling for me. But I believe thats personal feeling and experience. The G940 just... feels bad, but I only tested it in stores. But I assume Logitech is unable to get to the real sim market - the G940 is a product for people gaming, with nice touchy lighted buttons and a "WHRUMBL" when you touch down. The X65F-Throttle and Stick - they both feel plastical (is that the adverb to "plastic"?), but it's... okay. And even more, they don't try to flood their Hotas with additional buttons on the throttle base. I mean, yeah, the warthog has, but the Wh-throttle is an 1-to-1-replica out of the Wh-pit, so it feels the real deal, and if that's not possible because you want to address a bigger market, simplicity gets your the better feeling. And of course, the force sensing in the X65 feels harder and more precise than any other HOTAS (Thrustmaster products excluded ;) ). Recomendation, if someon is going to buy a hotas, he should buy an X65, try the Force sensing and if it doesn't feel good, he could use the 14-day-exchange-right. Right?

signed. I nearly broke my chair at that point by falling from it and hitting it with my head. I remember that approach - "wtf man whats happening what does all that light mean and OH SHIT WHY IS THE GROUND SUDDENLY SO NE- guess I'll have to start over again." You'll walk you way through ;) and sometimes, the manual IS a bit usable, perhaps only as reference, but... ;)

But if I flew something fast and up high, grass doesnt matter for me, but the whole picture does, and I like flying high and fst ;)

How about a good-looking Eagle driver? xD

Perhaps he's good in blowing hardly? If not, you'll be troubled with that setup in that budget. Who's giving you advice? -
Weird graphics issue after installing Lockon FC2
Haggart replied to epokha's topic in Bugs and Problems
Mip-Mapping is a smoothig technique for textures, which works by havig different resoluted textures for the same object available and show different ones by viewing distance. "Force mipmap" will force the usage of mip-mapping for an application, I assume. Another assumption would be then that the HUD is scaled otherwise, but when mipmapping is force on, it triesy to use different textures for different view distances... but while there's only one available, this one is displayed boxed. -
Warthog Force Sensing Mod/Simped F-16 Gameport
Haggart replied to Haggart's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Uhm. I thought, by using the new electronics in the warthog combined with a good fs-mod I could get even more precision then I've with the fs-cougar, and I don't like the idea of having to use multiple gadgetry if I could unite it all in one. But that would be plan b, yes... And thanks for the info, rehtnap. Will be glad to hear about. -
Hey guys, as I grabbed the Warthog from batf1nk and it's now inbound to me, I'm allready thinking about modding it. I like the feeling and hall-sensor-concept of the Warthog as I tested it in-store, but I love my force-modded cougar. Is there allready any force sensing mod for the Warthog which I didn't find by forum search and google? Also - does anybody has dcs F16-Pedals with gameport and have them converted to USB by a Gameport-USB-Adapter? I hate the thought of it, but I MIGHT sell my Cougar as I stripped my last reserves for the Warthog - but I'm not willing to give away those fine pedals, especially not while flying the Shark. And if that tear-smeared moment of cougar-selling comes, I need to reroute the pedals to USB as I don't have no gameport nor other connection possibility for the pedals natively.

Hey, we've LoATC on our Squadron Server up & running - only trouble is, it fire's up only with the main admin-account, which I heavily dislike. It tells the user it cannot find no Lomac-Export. A bit more data: OS: Server 2008R2 x64 Virus scanner: tested by disabling it, same behaviour Installation folder: C:/Simulations (so not in the program files dir) "run as admin" with a foreign user triggers same behaviour Anyone any idea?

if we can arrange a shipping to germany within a reasonable postal cost, i'm your buyer.

I don't think this is good. If I'm in an emergency, I've many things to do, and in the 15 seconds to ground contact I don't like to use many of them to hold out a fire handle in a shaking cockpit for 3 seconds, while the fire is spreading more and more in this 3 seconds.

Hey, would love to. I encircled the problem to be somewhere between my stick and... something else. The only problem left is the radar cursor, as I can't get any movement in the X-Axis through it, only the Y-Axis is moved, while I'm sure I've mapped it correctly. Attaching file. (Important lines are the lines about the RDR_X and RDR_Y-Axis, both approuches don't work out) FC2.tmc.txt

Oh, I've been hit by my own bomb also in FC2 - dived to hard after a fast release. I'm sure I've the track somewhere saved...

I thought it would be useful for all if we collect all useful information we find about this plane IF this project is real. I'll start with the simple "what". The Air Tractor AT-802U is a two-seat, one-engine propeller plane developed and built by Air Tractor Inc. With a max. speed of 200 kn, it can carry 9.000 pounds of blowable stuff - like unguided rockets, the Hellfire AT-missile or guided bombs, which makes a target marking system also necessary. Think of a poor man's exportable Warthog. It's currently only used by the Arabian Emirates, while other organizations/countrys are considering acquisition programs. Pictures taken from Google:

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Haggart replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
If this is not a joke, I'll be really, REALLY wtf'ed. I don't think ANYone would've thought about this. But there ARE three pro's: -first, if it's real, I'm sure it won't take THAT long, because it's a kinda simpel aircraft, -second, if it's real - the -U is a tandem aircraft, so we'll encounter the way ED is building tandem piloting and they'll get used to that, -and third, we've all read the art of war and know about good deception, don't we? ;-) It's not unpropable 'cause a acquisition program for the 802U is in progress and the Aircraft is realtivly new. I only fear this would be kinda be a long shot 'cause the 802U was concepted in the late '10s and so all the equipment available in DCS must be brought up to that level to simulate an realistic enviroment...
