  1. Something irked me today.

It's happened more than once, but you get someone on this forum saying "I am extremely disappointed with DCS:X. It's flight model is pants; A2A's X is much better. BTW, I'm a real pilot, so I know naanaanaa!".

... be aware that most of this statements are made by people that don't have familiarized themselves with the options menu and the simulation as a whole...

This really annoys me, if there is no validation. Kerry Katona may be a qualified driver and owner of a Nissan GTR, but she'll (highly likely) have zero experience or understanding of the 'edge of the envelope' characteristics of that car, with respect to understeer/oversteer/chassis dynamics/mechanics of drifting/traction control/slide-recovery/braking moments....

    I'm a Glider pilot....

Did it helped me fo fly and fight in DCS?!... NO (- I had to relearn almost everything...)

But it helped me a lot to know what I have to concentrate on in my learning.

So excluding the RL Air-force jocks or aerobatics pilots, does the average commercial or recreational pilot have any position from which to comment on the flight-model of a PC-plane?

Yes they have - as long they use the popper tools to make their judgement and also know their shortcomings.

This is only a small part what I did to get as close I can get at Home:

... I can tell you that the extension alone boosted my "skills" at about 200% and the FFB +200% more.... -

...Just wanted to tell that most of this "bad" comments are made because they didn't used the right tools for the job.

Things I had to face/learn the last year : Controllers that are sufficient for FSX/X-plane are not always sufficient for DCS P-51D...

    Yep.

    Nate

... and does it still not work on a "Camera+LMFCD(on right side)" monitor setting?

    ... nevermind.

  3. Yes - there is a possibility,

    BUT

I rather would wait for a new Beta before I try to explain how to turn a "simple" overlay into a fully customisable export that you can control via the "Monitor-setup".lua

I hope that ED will make it functional by their own for the next beta/release, without community support.

a second note : It is also possible to move the 2D map freely around in the whole screen-render and resize it .

This functions are covered in \DCS World\Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common\Cockpit\KNEEBOARD\indicator\definitions.lua

But I didn't played a lot around with it up to now - as I think that ED will change it when P-51D will left beta to be a fully functional export like you do it now with the MFCDs.

  4. :D

    Great Yo-Yo!

    And thanks for info.

How about fixing the K-14 also for me ?!

Its Friday! - and I feel badly like I have to shoot some from the sky.

    Where is the hot-fix?;)

  5. OK / Fine

    :)

(please lets stay on topic smile.gif)

    edit:

you: If only it didn't require steam.

    I: Haha!

reminds me of people asking to run FC3 without DCS World.

    You: That's a far stretch... smile.gif

This is not far stretched at all.

You are asking to use a mod that uses the properties of Vale without the use of the Vale base programme = "Steam".

That's exactly the same like asking for FC3 without DCS world.

and again: I just answering your input - I'm not eager for a discussion about how a good thing like a "base program" can go beyond what you want to use it for... just answering your comment.

To be more precise (and please read following with a grain of salt and common sense): DCS World can offer the same functionality to ED like Steam. The functions are just not implemented up to now. - and only time can tell.

  6. Possibly, but i still don't want it anywhere near my PC. It is a matter of principle, but that is going too far OT, i guess. smile.gif

there are very simple ways to configure steam together with a firewall to do what you want and not what it want - goggle for it.

    ...

Windows and IE and "services" like Facebook are much greater problems...

(please lets stay on topic :))

  7. Dead link (not the link to the thread - the download link contained in the post).

Not dead - just overstressed - or you tried to open it without running steam-client (it is not a URL - its a steam specific command = steam://run/218 ).

Works at my end without problems.

BTW edited my post to get SDK 2007 without the link.
