  1. here is one of my stupid-naive ideas again:

    How about renaming this thread and changing the "!" into a "?" ?

    ... I made a goggle search for a multilayer fix and ended almost every time in this thread.

    And I just think about all the others that have high hopes and test this various suggestions in this thread...

    ...and don't see/over-read the replies from c0ff that there is no problem at the user-end and no way to fix it up to now.

    (BTW: I spend about 2 hours to change every thinkable setting of my router and again about 3 hours testing the different suggestions in this thread just to find out that this is absolute useless spend time...=I was really angry!)

    Question:

    Why can't ED simply make a notice at the news-page and/or the DCS-World news-ticker that the MP function is partly broken now in 1.2.0 and that they are aware of it and working on a fix?

    I Think something like this would be the right way and prevent a lot of people to waste their time - and also lower the frustration.

    ...and it will maybe also stop that there is every 5 hours a new thread opened about the same issue.

    ED, please act , instead of react.

  2. I have problem understanding what your reaction was about.

    Please read post #46 again - maybe you get the grip.

    Here is a challenge:

    Just pick out a democratic country of your choice and visit it as normal tourist....

    ...than stroll around near a military complex and take pictures and videos of it.

    -Yes! I'm talking of one of these buildings that have these signs at the fence:

    This is what I was getting at. You can find democratic countries where photographing of military bases is completly legal. What more, in Czech Republic such signs have no effect on public places and can only restrict you inside the compound.

    Well - I really don't care what is possible in other countries. This thread is about two being arrested in Greek because they din't made themselves familar what isn't possible at the place they are visiting. -Point-

    Further (BTW you quoted it twice) I wrote:

    "-Yes! I'm talking of one of these buildings that have these signs at the fence:"

    ...and your wrote yourself

    Different country, different approach, different laws. So please, let's stop with the generalization.

    So please ask yourself again who is generalizing something?

    Echo38 or I...

    Still having problems with my "reaction" ? - fine no problem for me - that are your problems, not mine.

  3. HaHa! :doh::)

    Here is a challenge:

    -Yes! I'm talking of one of these buildings that have these signs at the fence:

    no_video_cameras_allowed.jpg

    And on top if it - once a security have picked you up - tell them that you are a software developer and tell them that you want to use this material only to rebuild the complex in a computer scenery....

    I'm very curious what would happen.

    Here is my guess :

    You get arrested for further investigations.

    And this is no indication that it is a totalitarian country.

    Please think next time twice before posting things like this again:

    I never realized that Greece was that totalitarian. Bummer--it was pretty high on my list of places I'd like to visit someday.

    I don't know where you are living - but my common sense tells me that that even your country has laws that prohibit things like this even for the citizens.

    And they won't tell you :"Ah - now we understand! Please come with us and we give you a free tour in our base - we just have to call the commander that he prepares a nice warm welcoming and coffee table for you!"

  4. thanks for clarifying - wipes away some question-marks :).

    6000 instead of 4000 sounded just a little too much for my experience.

    Just for clarification and all others that read this:

    I learned that adding one quarter to the side-monitors is Ok to counteract the stretching effect a little.

    Practical example:

    So if you have a TH configuration with 1920x1080 at the side-views - I would suggest to run 2400x1080 at the sides.

    So that it would be 6720(+Bezel)x1080 =

    Left: 2400x1080

    Middle: 1920x1080

    right: 2400x1080

    This don't eliminates the stretching - but makes it much less noticeable.

  5. Alt+F1 = HUD Only View.

    The best solution to counteract this "exploit" would be to render instead only a black tub that would block your FOV - everyone would be happy - even the cockpit builders.

  6. 6000x1920 and only using the center 4000 pixels.

    This sounds strange to me - do I get it right:

    You are rendering a 6000x1920 camera view-port but only displaying 4000x1920 on your screens?!

    This sounds like your settings could use some optimisation.

    Please post your

    -config.SoftTHconfig

    -monitorsetup.lua

    -options.lua

    And tell me the native res of your monitors.

    I must say that with the portrait/landscape/portrait the distortion is much less distracting anyway.

    That's no surprise - as your settings are much closer to a 1:1 aspect as the normal TH-screen setting - usually 16:3.

  7. you simply forgot/didn't thought about the possibility that "wonder woman view" (and other features that are only available via file edits) are commonly used among pit-builders.

    So adding a function to suppress this "arcade" functions would make some of the pits useless.

    Have look here and imagine he would have to use the in-cockpit view with a full rendered cockpit:

    Thread:A-10C Cockpit 95% complete

  8. While I understand, to a certain extent, the frustration some have over this issue, imagine the task at hand were ED to do such a thing.

    Once the process was setup...

    Check the BS1 and BS2 upgrad keys. Then invalidate the upgrade key and provide a new key, so nearly simultaneously, such that users have no 'keyless' period of downtime.

    Then ED would have to process thousands of such requests for new keys in a 'timely' manner.

    Not exactly simple. ;)

    ...and don't forget that ED is only the "man in the middle" technically ,when speaking about Keys.

    All has to be coordinated with Starforce. - And I don't believe that Starforce do this for free.

  9. Is there any way to eliminate the stretching effect to the left and right monitors with SoftTH?

    Also, what can I do to correct the monitor bezel width. Thanks

    crank

    Is this the stretching you experience?

    There is no way to fix it with SoftTH.

    But you can counteract it a little:

    You can squeeze the aspect a little at the sides.

    That means to render 1200 instead 1000 pixels at the side monitors.

    Example for three 1000x700 screens

    instead using 3000x700 as total render use 3400x700

    and do it like this:

    Head1 (left):

    sourceRect=0,0,1200,700

    transportResolution=1000x700

    Primary(middle):

    sourceRect=0,1200,1000,700

    transportResolution=1000x700

    Head2(right):

    sourceRect=0,2400,1200,700

    transportResolution=1000x700

    Bezel compensation :

    1. first add the bezel-pixel-size to the total resolution in DCS and in the SoftTHconfig.

    -you can measure exactly how many pixel to add with pixelwindow and/or using a real ruler and a little maths .

    2. than re-adjust the screen-content position by editing the

    X value in the

    sourceRect=X,Y,width,height

    for the middle and right head.

    Example for three 1000x700 screens with two bezels each 100px:

    Total render: 3200x700

    Head 1 (left)

    sourceRect=0,0,1000,700

    Primary (middle)

    sourceRect=1100,0,1000,700

    Head 2 (right)

    sourceRect=2200,0,1000,700

    Reminder: When you can't read something that is hidden in the Bezels:

    Use AppKey+S to draw everything in the primary head .

    (look up the hotkeys in the SoftTH ReadMe)

  10. Soulres,

    Please switch of the SAS and hydraulics in the A-10 and than try to fly it with your X-Box controller...

    To keep it short:

    Even if you have all controls mapped on the X-Box controller,

    you cant expect to fly the P-51 with a stick that has only a movement of 1 square centimetres for all directions at the top with the same precision as with a casual flight-stick.

    Just because it is possible in the A-10 (and the A2A P51D is a whole different story) ,

    you can't expect the same from a Prop plane that has a enormous propeller torque and highly depends on small ruder adjustments all the time to counteract it.

    Before you ditch the P-51 and think about trying the Ka-50... - get first a flightstick - or you will open a similar thread again.

  11. I like it smile.gif but do you agree that DCS could benefit from a bit of rumbling?

    Rumbling? - Why not!

    But please only where it belongs !!

    =To the chair you are sitting on.

    Look what can happen when a "effect" is added only to the FFB stick:

    icon5.gif Fine-tune FFB gun effect for the Su-25T

    So- When you want to have a rumbling chair + stick :

    Build a rumbling platform with a modified subwoofer and put your gear on it.

    But don't add effects that you feel mainly with your back only to a FFB-Stick...

    This causes just too much trouble for small fine-adjustments and puts to much stress on the FFB motors .
