HOW-TO Prepare and Copy-protect your mission
Scooternutz replied to Panzertard's topic in User Created Missions General
Hello all, Any mission I put on the 16th Server will not be protected so copy and modify at will. Have fun with it! -
It was "leaking" rather than "going down" if I remember correctly. That bandit was probably going down at perhaps 2000 feet per minute. Depending on the damage created by the shot there could have been additional drag causing the descent to be retarded but the air passing over the damaged airframe could have increased. This would cause catastrophic airframe failure to a point of speed actually faster than terminal velocity. Ah, but what if the craft exploded in air. Than we have many variables to calculate as the pieces of the jet went down separately. Oh I don't know...really fast like horses running with the wind, or a feather on the breeze, or ice on ice, or Jesse Owens during the Munich Olympics, or an Elway Cross, or the sale of Thin Mint Cookies. In closing, Riptide, you're a stand up guy. See you in the air on the same side hopefully.

This is exactly why I love this community. We can address an item but remain jovial enough to get the point across. Again, I am not too upset over it. D-Steve - If I am reading between the lines, are you stating that you don't fly online?
-
Geez, Mower was just as bad.
-
That is one heck of a setup Digital Steve. Are you flying with multiple monitors? Anyway, you know how it is. People just get carried away. Can understand once but when they start getting silly and really gross it gets old. BTW, I am using a Panasonic CF-19 Touch Notebook for my Touchbuddy, AWESOME!

I believe the server admins were discussing it. I saw a couple of warnings as well. No harm here, I just wanted to vent to a great community that is a part of my life.

You are absolutely correct. This is why I will never stop flying. I enjoy it too much!!!!!!!!!!!!! I applaud those that have standards and remain professional. I could use the practice, that is for sure.

Hello all, I am a retired Sailor and I can certainly swear like one. I was on a server last night and my young son, my wingman, was right behind me in his chair. All of the sudden some very disgusting chat messages started coming through. My son is 14 so it was no big deal for him to see that. I have always spoke highly of this hobby and the absolute professionals that fly. I was just a little shocked at not one but more than 10 lines of vulgarity. There was one very gross comment about a $2 Prostitute. I am not asking anyone to change for my benefit but I wanted to express my thoughts on this. I will continue to fly online and I will continue to have my son watch and learn. It is just too bad that any of us have to put up with that behavior. Keep it offline or at least abbreviate with symbols. I have done that. The $2 Prostitute really was gross. Oh well. See you in the air! Scooter

Having great success with Night Attacks!
Scooternutz replied to Scooternutz's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I adjust my NVG so it is darker. If I am in a target area I can secure my NVGs and adjust my shkval so it basically looks like shadows. Once the flare candle is ignited I can see just fine. It is way too bright with NVGs when a flare goes off. I don't think there is a perfect way to adjust all the lighting but when you find the combination that works for you get ready for some intense tactical flying. -

Having great success with Night Attacks!
Scooternutz replied to Scooternutz's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Great point. I would like to think that no night sortie would go out without a good brief and good intel. On my missions I turn on all the icons. I know that it is "cheating" but if we had a AF style AWACS there would be no need to. I compare it to having JSTARS. JSTARS can give a strike group good SA. With that it isn't so much the F10 view but the info on the ABRIS. It just makes the sim much more fun to have somewhat of an idea of where the bad guys are for coordination attacks. We will, however, send out a pilot for a recon if we can't locate targets. They usually end up hauling a$$ back trying to dodge a missile or two. All you hear on comms is, Oh, $hit, missiles inbound. Can anyone see them? Stay low guys!", etc. If they get hit they will receive some good banter. In our Squad we concentrate on the coordinated missions rather than red vs. blue. We will fly and design force on force but we prefer coordinated tactics. -
Hey Simmers, My squad, 16th ACCW Flying Tigers, is having some great success with night attacks. We were flying the Dogs of War, Anapa Overrun mission. I did modify it by adding some A-10s just so the fix winged guys can have some fun. I also added some AH-1Ws so I could fly it alone. They do minimal damage. There were four of us in there last night and we are starting to really advance in our crew coordination tactics. We are tracking each others remaining weapons inventories, planning flare deployment, and rearming, staggered, at the FARP so we are not left Winchester at the same time. So far it is working well. Last night we set up in a pincer formation and attacked targets from two sides. I experimented with locating targets, launching illumination flares, getting the airplane steady, getting a valid laser lock and destroying targets. I was surprised at how smooth this works. I am gaining more confidence that the Ka-50 can be a great night attack platform. Just wanted to share this. I have read some negative things on the lack of night capabilities concerning the Ka-50. It does require some work and serious coordination but it can be done. Scooter

This is better than a plate full of waffles with butter and maple syrup. Getting very excited about the new sim and Ka-50 compatibility.

My New Multiple Monitor Setup (pics/description)
Scooternutz replied to walker450's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Monitor setup lua settings: _ = function(p) return p; end; name = _('ScooterView'); Description = 'Shkval on the right monitor, ABRIS on the right monitor, camera on the left'; Viewports = { Center = { x = 0; y = 0; width =1920; height = 1200; viewDx = 0; viewDy = 0; aspect = 1.6; } } ABRIS = { x = 1920; y = 318; width =670; height =880; } Shkval = { x =2591; y = 697; width = 700; height = 500; } Options in the Scripts folder: ["graphics"] = { ["multiMonitorSetup"] = "scooterview", ["color"] = "32", ["heatBlr"] = 0, ["scenes"] = "high", ["water"] = 2, ["fullScreen"] = false, ["visibRange"] = "High", ["aspect"] = 1.6, ["textures"] = 2, ["shadows"] = 1, ["effects"] = 2, ["width"] = 3600, ["lights"] = 2, ["height"] = 1200, ["civTraffic"] = 1, ["resolution"] = "1920x1200", ["haze"] = 1, }, -- end of ["graphics"] } -- end of options Designate your primary monitor as #1. If it is not, physically change the cables so Monitor 1 is center and Monitor 2 is on the right. Good luck! -
I am fine with that!

Hello all, I am trying to extend my Cougar HOTAS stick to make it a center stick. I know the size for the coupling is M36x2. Does anyone know where I can find a fitting like this in the States? Also, does this translate to a standard fitting at all? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Scooter
-
You are right on Frazer. We must have the curve settings to dampen the shorter control sticks. I am going to modify my Cougar to a center style helo cyclic and I know that I will have a level of control I have not had before. Problem is finding a fitting that will mate with the cougar. It is metric and in the States all I can find is standard fittings. Good post. I like this stuff!
