  1. Hey everyone! So here's the deal. I'm looking to upgrade my computer and I'm trying to figure out what will get me the most bang for my buck. My current system is in my sig. So I'm looking to boost my FPS. I run two screens (one with the view, the other with two MFD's). I've heard about the GTX 670 and I'm interested. However, I've recieved advice that claims that an upgrade from my current card would do little to my overall performance and I should be looking at a new CPU instead. Does anyone have thoughts on this CPU versus video card debate? From where I stand, a new CPU would require a new motherboard (thank you intel for changing your socket from 1156 to 1155 ) and would be roughly $450 for a motherboard and CPU. Not to mention reinstalling Windows and all my beloved programs. However, the GTX 670 is simply a card swap and is cheaper. I'm just curious which one would yield the best returns for time, energy, money, and FPS. Thanks guys!
  2. But if a bullet happened to strike a lucky hit, the missile would explode?
  3. So I'm wondering. Is it possible to shoot a missile out of the sky with a GAU-8? If so, does anyone have a track?
  4. I had this problem for a while. If your Force-Feedback is turned on when you don't have a Force-Feedback joystick, you won't be able to trim.
  5. Alright so here's the issue. the reticle bracket is 66X66px. For a proper center you need a 1 pixel reticle but 66 doesn't allow that. 66/2=33 so you can't have a one pixel true center. My first reticle you spoke of is a one pixel reticle with 33 elevation, 32 windege on a 66x66 image so thats why I have an imperfect sight. I personally think that 2 pixels is a bit wide for a cross since it obsures the target and gives you a bit more play in the sight than desired but theres little you can do about it next to bumping up the resolution of the bracket to allow for an odd number in the length and width of the image allowing a true center measured by one pixel (which I don't know how to do). The targeting reticle is simply a lower, different resolution than the gun sight that is much higher. If they made the brackets a higher native resolution with an odd number as the scale (67x67 for example) we could have proper sighting with a true 1 pixel center. Anyway, this is my make shift solution. Its a crosshair with brackets with a 2x2 pixel center dot. You need to line up the gun to the middle of the crosshairs of the bracket and it'll hit dead on. I engaged a hind at 2.2 nm and knocked it down with a 120mm shot from a M1A2 AP round (track was not recoverable but I'll try to replicate and post later). Hope this helps and I'll be seeing if theres a better solution. I'm up for any ideas. arcadebetav1_1.zip
  6. I've created a targeting bracket for ground targets that has a crosshair so you can line up the shots easier. Here's how to install it. 1. download file 2. locate arcade.tga in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\tech\CombinedArms\Cockpit\Resources 3. back up file 4. replace arcade.tga with the one included in the zip. 5. enjoy :D arcade.zip
  7. I just hope you can do this to civilian traffic http://www.youtube.com/embed/vx-wGfCNz2o
  8. I figured out how to get back. you simple hit esc, select briefing, and reselect pilot as your role. It worked for me. Hope that gets you guys back in the hog after ground pounding :)
  9. Thanks EtherealN. Good to know that its not a forgotten issue.
  10. As has already been discussed in on this forum in exhausting detail, trees and shrubbery are currently not collidable geometry. Since DCS is primarily a flight simulation this hasn't been the most pressing of issues since most of the time a player spends in the game is up in the air. However, with the announcement of DCS: Combined Arms I thought about the problem again. This addition promises to add drivable vehicles to the game and I can't help but wonder what if anything should be done about trees and scenery. How does lack of collidable trees and shrubbery detract from a ground based player perspective? Also, could this be a game breaking issue? Think of a heavy impassable forest modeled on the landscape. Currently, it would be possible to move right through it versus forcing navigation around. Not to mention the ability to shoot clear through many trees unhindered. I'm curious how these issues will be addressed in this upcoming addition to one of my favorite simulations.
  11. I’m having trouble maneuvering on the fly by. I bank 90 on the fly by and firewall the throttle and rpm and pull towards the enemy about half stick. My airspeed dips to at least 220-210mph whe the wings start rocking and then I fall out of the bank. does this bird not turn? do I need to apply rudder? does trim need to be other than zeroed out at 5000 alt? Help!
  12. Just a friendly bit of advice for all windows 7 users. I couldn't get anything to work following all the steps until I put the game in xp compatability mode. Now it works like a dream. Happy flying everyone
  13. That is awsome! I've just fell in love with this helicopter more. Who needs radar anyways?
  14. I put a KA-50 and a AH-64 within range of eachother. all the fully loaded AH-64 does is land on my airfield. This is typical of all helicopters set as enemy (other than russian). What do I need to do to get the enemy helicopter to attack?
