LeCuvier, where can I find the bindings to add to the script?
-
Absolutely, I am. What software is used to edit the file, and where can I locate these bindings? You've got me pretty stoked now

Nothing for the Warthog is LOL
-
Just got my Warthog a week ago and have been wracking my brain about this one! Just saw this thread and THANK YOU! I only wish some of the other switches were on/off style binds.
-
Ok! I JUST found those idle buttons last night, on the throttle map in TARGET. Staring me in the face for days...
-
Where can I find a good script for the F-18 throttle that includes the detent lift to introduce fuel into the engine, as well as lift to shut engine down?
-
I've never had a problem with freezing. So I wonder if there is a correlation regarding the clip? Does it happen with both active and passive? I use active (pro clip).
-
Thanks! I'll play around with TARGET and Gremlin more tonight, when I get home from work.
-
@Ant0ine: Because in the Gremlin software I can determine what happens when a button is released. So, buttons 29 and 30 are the throttle detents when placed in the off position. Now, if I want to create an action for when the throttles are placed in the idle position, I need to do that in the software. DCS does not have that ability to recognize when I "release" those buttons; only when the buttons are "on". During startup, I want to reach over and lift each throttle to the idle position and that action introduce fuel into each engine. There are keyboard commands for this, I can bind it to other switches, but in DCS I cannot bind it to the throttles. I can bind the off position to shutting down the engines, but that's it. Or am I still missing something?

TARGET is not as intuitive as it should be. Is there somewhere in the software that lists the buttons? It seems I have to run the script editor in order to see those mappings. Gremlin is more intuitive, BUT it saves the profiles in xml. How do I get the profiles in DCS format?
-
Thanks, both of you. I've got some checking out to do!
-
What about actions that don't have any keyboard commands associated with them, such as OBOGS? It's one thing to bind an equivalent to a keyboard command, but might be a whole another mess if scripting is involved, which I want nothing to do with. @Ant0ine: I hear ya, but I'd like to not have a plethora of software loaded just to fly. However, I AM checking those out also.

I get it. Just doing my research ;)
-
If I remap in TARGET, will it interfere with bindings in DCS controls?
-
I noticed that not all of the switches are on/off. For instance, when I try to bind the oxygen switch in the F18, one direction (up) turns it on, but the opposite does not turn it off. Is there a way to adjust that?

PC & Hardware Recommendations
Wolf359 replied to Pello86's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
One thing you can start with in your research is to price out the items that have a fixed price: VR models, TM Warthog HOTAS, etc. Because if you truly want to include those items in your build/budget, then know how much of your budget they will take up will matter when shopping for your PC build. It will certainly help you make choices: do you sacrifice a 2080 for a 2070 to help the cost of the HOTAS...things like that. And, believe it or not, the type of modules you want to fly MAY impact your HOTAS set up. For example, do you want to fly the Hornet, thereby do you want to include the F-18 TM grip in your packaging? That kind of thing. THEN! LOL sorry, but I have to include TM Warthog HOTAS things, too! Do you want an extension tube for the Warghog stick? Do you want to add the slew upgrade for the Warthog throttle? But at least I THINK I threw enough in there for you to check out. Hope I did't confuse. -
Ok, so I see what you all are saying about the slew button, and about the extension tubes, etc. But I gotta say, those folks who are selling the add-ons, upgrades, etc. are pricing some of these things a bit high. "There's a sucker born every minute" - P. T. Barnum. After paying what we pay for the HOTAS? Wow. Ok, now I'm off to pre-order the slew analog replacement.

It's not on their site, or from them. I found them on eBay and a straight Google search. Saw a plate for the f-18, f-16, and f-14. But they're out of Russia and Australia only, so far as I can find. Now, some of the switches do not function like on/off, but anything that doesn't distract and focuses to the Hornet is a plus. Take a look: https://www.etsy.com/listing/788006047/fa-18c-hornet-custom-plate-for?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_b-electronics_and_accessories-video_games&utm_custom1=56ea8ff7-8848-445c-a8c9-a4af366a1249&utm_content=go_2063581587_76452867735_367965825564_pla-353987697789_c__788006047&utm_custom2=2063581587&gclid=CjwKCAjw1v_0BRAkEiwALFkj5sv36eUQ2s4PQk-lYKKamSGgidoKyPTMyPzRUP2UFkEdHyasbLTj2BoCTj8QAvD_BwE

Let me know how it goes. And hey man, I'm no spring chicken either LOL.

I wanna make sure I understand what this game is. . .

Not to mention that right now you can try out just about every module you wish to for free until mid May. There are modules that are created to be simple (ie Flamiing Cliff aircraft), and there are modules that are very complex and, if you wish, you'll have to learn how to start the aircraft before you can do anything else, such as the F-14 (and a lot more).
