DCS World TARGET profile for TM Cougar and Warthog + MFDs
Wolf359 replied to Home Fries's topic in Thrustmaster
I currently have my throttle and DDI/MFDs scripted through Target. I have an additional Cougar MFD on the way, I will use it for the Hornet's AMPCD. Is there any tricky or touchy tweak I will need to do in the script? Or will it simply be recognized as another left or right MFD?- 2261 replies

This didn't happen before, during when I last flew the Viper. It seems that the issue is overspeed. I thought it might be a glitch related to a mod livery, so I changed skins to the default. I lowered the starting fuel to half. Took off with AB, brought gear up just over 255kph, and they stuck. Took off at mil power, and they raised just fine...hence taking more time to reach higher speeds. But it just seems strange that if I use AB at takeoff I must immediately cut back the throttle just to raise the gear. So my question is: Is this normal block 50 Viper behavior, or is this a bug I need to report? Thanx

Update: I tested the theory out a few minutes ago. My speed was around 256 knots and the back gear stuck again. I am going to save a track to watch, to be sure I am not trying to raise them too early. Even though the front is lifted, the back may not be. Keep you updated.

Thanks! A friend of mine just told me the same thing. I have the A-4C but haven't flown it much, and didn't know it had a hook. I will try it out.

I was just watching a Youtube vid of student pilots landing on a carrier, flying Goshawks. It would be pretty nice if DCS had a light, trainer aircraft to work on carrier landings. I looked at the L39 and the Aerojet, and neither have a hook.
-
I'm definitely overspeeding. I will try out tonight with slower takeoff - or at least note what speed I'm at when the issue occurs. Thanks, gents!

Is it just me, or is the landing gear VERY slow when transitioning?? It gets stuck on take off - front wheel up fine, but the back pair get stuck due to air speed. I have to reduce speed to get them up. When landing, they are slow to lower. Did something get changed to be more realistic, or is this buggy?

I had the same reaction! During startup, I kept looking to the NWS light and nothing. Then I was watching a vid on Youtube and spotted the "levers" on the outside of each display and thought, "well $hit!"

If you want even further immersion, look into a head tracker like TrackIR 5. Then no need to bind anything to look around.

Did you look in the "My Activity Streams" tab?

Does it worth to upgrade monitor to 2K?

I just bought a Dell s3220DGF - getting 165Hz from it. GPU is NVIDIA 2070 Super. -
What you WILL have to do is download the maps you own. Otherwise, you don't have the base terrain to start with. All else seems to work fine.
-
Ah haaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I will give that a shot and report back later! Thank you!

Then the question is can you place your aircraft (module) in the mission. It would be nice if the mission simply requested it when loading in sim. Does that make sense?
-
Yeah. The more I thought about the logistics of it all, things like modules and assets seemed to be a couple of major issues.
-
I would love a stand alone mission editor that can be loaded on a different system than the main software, set up missions and transfer the files to the flight sim pc. Is there something like this out there? Is it even possible if the modules aren't installed on that mission editor system?

A little silicone grease on the surface where the plunger - controlled by the friction know - did the trick. I'm guessing that the extra plate provides extra weight if not mounting the throttle to anything; like the plate on the stick. I mount both to a Wheel Stand Pro. FYI if you have one, they have a mount just for the stick, so you don't have to use the base plate!
-
I have the friction dialed all the way back and the throttle is still stiff. Any recommendations? And do i NEED two bottom plates??
-
Maybe this is new, but if I am not online (connected to the internet) my modules do not load. Isn't there a way for authentication to be stored locally, so I can still fly if my internet is down?
-
Nevermind. It started working fine...? (OB ver)
-
I've tried in several modules - F-16, F/A-18, F-15...I press F2 and the view pops outside, but when I try to pan around using the mouse, it's stuck in one spot. At first I thought it was an issue in a mission I set up on the Nevada map, but tried from the cold start mission on Syria and got the same thing.

Good question. After all, they each have their own folder structure.

Making DCS more accessible to new players.
Wolf359 replied to Vertigo72's topic in New User Briefing Room
I understand what you guys are saying. I view a game as something to be played, gaining points/experience in order to level up, become stronger in the environment, thereby achieving new levels and progressing to defeat the pre-programmed obstacles and win. Yeah, DCS has game modes in some of its modules, but overall, it feels more like a simulator. After all, the clickable modules are referred to as "study-level". But that's just splitting hairs. -

Personally, I think the problem is in the expectation. I see a LOT of folks referring to DCS as a game. THAT's the problem. DCS is a simulator; not a game.
