  1. I think more like 2.2 (from memory):smartass: Cheers
  2. Everything is powered up and working, I lift the collective the chopper lifts and straight away I lose "all" power and you guessed it...'crash':joystick: Anyone know what would have caused this? Cheers
  3. many thanks I enjoyed my time at Amberley and before that at ARDU and the 'pig' was exceptional, I even got to go in the simulator although I remember it being not what I expected. All in all I was just saying the tornado was an a/c I always thought was great. Cheers:thumbup:
  4. Yep that sounds right Yep that's it  What a horrible feeling, I am yelling "talk to me goose"! :joystick:
  5. Start on "Real" they said :megalol: Well I thought I was getting the hang of flying this chopper on real, 'but' on decent trying to slow down, the spinning starts and I mean 'you spin me right round baby like a, well you know the verse, sadly so do I' anyway one the spinning started I couldn't stop it and I spun all the way into the ground. Seems I have the take off, flying straight and slow whilst in flight, but landing on the other hand. Oh well back to the drawing board. Don't mind me, just venting:lol: Cheers
  6. excellent You guys are great, I enjoy reading the replies, yeah it would seem there are all those 'rewards' to look forward to:pilotfly: Cheers
  7. your right Thanks, your are correct it seems axis (or collective) only works in "real" only thing is I die rather quick in real, i can fly the chopper but most recently (before this post) my engines blew up, 1st the left then the right, that will teach me to keep the collective all the way up for to long. I guess those flashing lights and tones i should have took more notice. Seems one cannot fly around all day with collective at 100%, (in my defence I was trying to reach 4000ft so as to fly over the mountains:huh: silly me) Cheers
  8. excellent Wow, I remember when that game came out, it was huge, played the game not anything after, pilot mercs from memory, cool.:smilewink:
  9. Thanks I will try as you suggest, I will let you know how it goes, again thanks:thumbup:
  10. Tornado Just off topic, but I always thought the Tornado was an excellent fighter/bomber, awesome a/c. I remember the 1st Gulf War where the brits did alot of the early 'real low level close bombing' in the start, amazing success but hardly anyone knew about it. I knew as I was in the RAAF then and loved all things military. The payload of the tornado was exceptional I think it nearly matched (or may even carry more ordance) then our beloved F111 (the PIG). Just to ramble on (and I may not be 100% accurate) however the tornado along with the yanks and aussies used to complete an excercise in canada (I think) but I remember reading the yanks were not happy that the Aussies and Brits used to win it more times than they did. The last excercise they did (in my day) I am sure the brits using Tornados stole the show with some excellent displays. I guess what I am saying is I think (IMHO) that the Tornado was often not given the credit it deserved as an A/C and of course the british pilots who flew them well.:pilotfly: If I am wrong with the finer details I do apoligise, but I think you can get what I am trying to say. Cheers
  11. Great Advice Thanks to all who replied and helped, all of it is excellent advice.
  12. Interesting post Yeah I have always wondered, what is with the ice thingy? I mean don't rotors like spin at like a million miles an hour, wouldn't the heat from the engines stop ice forming, got me curious? btw excellent post, enjoyed reading it.
  13. I hope I got that right? Is it true the DCS are going to be doing an Apache Sim like Blackshark, I for one reckon that would be excellent. I am old so be nice, but I remember buying my first ever computer, a comodore 64 with the tape deck thingy just so I could play microprose's Gunship, loved it. In my humble opinion (maybe some nostalgia there) that was the best apache sim ever made, because of the game play and the depth. I wonder whatever happened to microprose, they made some excellent games for the 64 and then later my amiga 500:) Cheers all
  14. I bought a new joystick just for this sim yesterday it is a "Logitech Extreme 3D Pro" very nice stick, "however" when I play in game mode the collective works with this stick but when I play in real mode it does not work and only uses keys Q and A. I went into settings to try to bind the up down plastic thingy but unlike the 12 buttons I cannot work out what the lever is called so I can assign it to up and down. Anyone have a lever and even better if someone has the same stick as me, have you managed to assign the lever to collective? I went into options for game but strangely enough doesn't have a button allocated for collective but yet it works in game mode and not real, got me stumped. Help!:helpsmilie: Cheers
  15. funny as Heathen, LOL, yeah maybe I am, your right in what you are saying, I do remember changing it from one format to another, as for running late, thats my fault, left it on auto pilot for the entire mission and chopper was only flying at 80-90 at best. Can I ask you a question please? I have an understanding of using trim (well a little understanding LOL) can I set speed, say push joystick all the way forward, say get the speed (max maybe) and then hit 'trim' to hold that speed? I will try later but if you get back to me sooner I will wait to hear what you say on this subject.:music_whistling: Cheers
  16. for real? That sounds so strange, but if you say so, that might explain why my wingman is doing 'jack' when ordered to.:pilotfly: cheers
  17. what do you think? Do you think this needs to be changed with a patch, the wingman has the same equipment as you, surely he can scan and kill as I figure if you can pick them up and he is normally on your right, he must be able to as well? Cheers
  18. Oh okay I was sure it was originally in imperial as i remember changing it, but if you say so mate I will leave it on metric, all i was concerned with was trying to get to 220 and staying there and not being stuck on 98 on cruise ® auto pilot. Thanks :smilewink: Cheers
  19. Again thanks One's hand is going to get very sore holding the stick fully forward for the entire mission so as to keep the chopper at a requested speed, I am guessing there must be like a "cruise control" for the chopper as most cars have them so a machine like this must have something, saves the pilot sitting on the stick entire flight surely? I will check the manual might be something in that 383 pages I printed and bound in three seperate parts as it was so thick LOL:doh: Anyway continued help on this would be good, if I find out any info I will post as well. Cheers
  20. well done I reckon your 100 % right as I did change the setting to metric as I am in Oz, LOL:megalol: I will change it back. Thanks
  21. I am getting better with the sim (as you guys and gals said I would) however one thing I am still stuck on and can you help me with this? I am on a mission and am told to stay at 800 and 220 speed, problem is as soon as I engage "R" the chopper flys true to bearing but speed drops right of to 89 -90 and stays that way unless I take control and point the nose earthward and yet speed max is 140? How do I get the chopper to keep heading yet increase speed, I am yet to work this out, also I have noticed on the hud it may 800 but height on the bottom bar reads different (almost always much higher). Any help on these two points would be great as I keep failing mission as can't get the chopper to fly any faster than 140. Cheers Le'Roy:pilotfly:
  22. well done At least we have the manual to read now. I am enjoying reading it, very informative.:book:
  23. is this based on reality? Sorry to ask but as a nurse, I was always led to believe they have a catheter (not a indwelling) but the type that works like a condom, just peels and sits over the pen.... or by 'piddle pack' do you mean the same concept? The only reason I ask is the catheter setup alows the pilot to remain seated on long flights (good example is the Lockheed SR-71). However with the F-16, not alot of room, however good story.
  24. Printed the manual  Ouch and Wow, 383 pages and the printer finally stops, all the paper was very warm to the touch and I think the printer had a small heart attack  Then there was the binding, I had to bind the entire manual into two halves as it was too big  anyway I am glad I have completed that part of the setup and will now sit down to read it (don't know exactly how long that will take, however should be good reading):megalol: On another note, I am still working through these 'long' tutorials (hope I spelt that right) and not so overwhelmed now but still very 'dead' at any attempt on any thing after mission one, LOL. Cheers all
  25. you recomend Just starting on realistic and staying there?:pilotfly:
