That's interesting.  I definitely have it locked up for way longer than that and encounter the issue mentioned.

I locked the target up in VIS mode and move the TGP and zoom in on the target.  I'll do some more testing.

Having a Point or Area track is not enough, you need to manually "lase" the target using 1st stage trigger, for 3 seconds before release and as mentioned above, aim for the wheels/tracks

okee.. why does the hud not come on, when rotating the wheel... at rampstart and leaving the MMC switch off

Its like when you turn your car key, the head lights won't come on until the engine runs... but when shutting down the engine, the lights won't die out.

See it more as the HUD is your monitor and the MMC is a your motherboard/desktop

In your case it's more like turning on your monitor, but not your desktop.

Why it does that when shutting down seems like a bug to me

If you're out of range, it naturally won't give you anything

How silly now i read that back 😅

    let me rephrase that...

If i'm not mistaken, the tankers in DCS are bearing only on Y band and make sure to set TACAN to A-A, airfields give you both bearing and distance on X band

  4. As mentioned above, make sure the canopy is fully down by holding down the switch. If you have the engine still off, you can hear the actuator stop and thats when you release the switch

In RL after the canopy closes, the hooks need to rotate to ensure a positive lock (i think thats DCS way of needing to hold the switch)

  5. For those who have this issue, try this:

I tried it a couple of times today and sometimes i have this issue where the missiles miss their target. My steps to "fix" this for now is to reset the INU under Util page of the TSD. Works 100%, all of my fired missiles hit their intended target after the reset

What are you regularly changing?  I only change five numbers on program 1 & 2 during each startup, takes literally seconds while the INS is aligning.  I set program 1 as anti ARH/BVR, and program 2 as a WVR anti IR dispense pattern.  Sometimes I'll program 3 as a pre-emptive pop-up attack, longer duration pattern, but not always.

Do you have optimised profiles for each specific threat?  Quite interested in how others set it up.

Yes, i do use different programs as the stock ones are quite useless.

Good question: does anyone know if it's standard procedure to switch to CAT I after an emergency jettison? I don't see it documented anywhere.

Yes, because you'll get a caution light as soon as you press the jettison button

Yup. Dunno if its done IRL, but with logic in game it should help manouvering the aircraft.

BTW. If I have like two mavs and two 500lbs bombs but none tanks, should I still Use CAT III ? Do I ALWAYS use CAT III with A/G payloads, where there tanks or not...?

Only A/A missiles and center line tank are considered CAT I

Any A/G stores and wing tanks are considered CAT III

I was speaking about the Mirage 2000 , Raven was speaking about the Mirage 2000^^

It was more intended for people who think that the F16 works in a similar matter, because Raven answered you that the system is partially implemented, this can lead people to think the F16 should give a tone aswell

I know how the Mirage works, it was my first module years ago

You are not getting the point of the previous poster. In RL there is a BVR time-line you strictly follows based on the mission. The range is not about knowing where bandits will be, but about knowing at which range you commit or abort, if you commit you probably either go to TWS or even STT for greater accuracy, but you'll have a sorted target asigned and you are just not changing scan/azimuth settings at that time, that would happen before to know how many groups or bandits you are engaging.

That not what he said in his post. How can i know what he says, if he doesnt say what he means?

Noone was talking about when, how or not to commit

However, TWS is only used when you've already found whatever you're engaging.

    This is not true

The distance from the target group where you switch from RWS to TWS in an engagement is predetermined in the mission briefing.

How exactly does briefing know, where the bandits are to be found in the entire airspace? Again this statement is not true

Becuase of this, TWS settings like range or azimuth are simply loaded from the DTC and not meant to be changed while flying.

See above, the pilot can change what he wants in order to find a target. There is no "magic" setting which works every time to see everything and anywhere on the scope
