RTX2070 Super v GTX1080ti - DCS and memory
Burnerski replied to DerekSpeare's topic in Virtual Reality
I think Half-life Alex is driving the 1080ti prices because the game uses about 10gb of VRAM. I'll bet you would not notice the difference. Look forward to your results. -
They worked in 1995. LOL

The headphone setup on the Rift S is something they probably saved money on. For me it's not an issue with DCS because I have a simshaker setup on my seat and pedals. I used that setup in Iracing, it's called Simcommander . I wish it worked with DCS. It makes the simulator come alive. I tried the Simshaker addon for DCS but found the effects fake. So what I do is turn off the Rift headphones and send the stock sound from DCS to my shaker setup in my seat and pedals. I works almost as good as Simcommander. I can feel the burner light, the boards come out and retract, the engines start and shut down ETC. Comms with someone would probably not work because the " shakers" are not designed for speech. I really miss the shaker effect if it's not on. For me its required DCS equipment. I can't get it to work with Rift headphones enabled. But I could use Rift headphones and a "shaker" setup with Iracing through Simcommander. I'm looking forward to my Reverb G2 and will probably disable the improved speakers on the Reverb Regards, Burner

Interesting I had both and there is no way I would go back to a CV1.
-
I decided to preorder the G2. I am currently using a Rift S and would like better resolution. Are there any Reverb owners who have used a Rift S, how does it compare? I'm currently running a 1080ti but will probably upgrade to the newer Nvidia when it comes out .

I totally agree.

Confused on what to get. Oddy+ vs Rift S
Burnerski replied to Randy_Lahey's topic in Virtual Reality
I have owned them both. The Odyssey+ had terrible ghosting on any moving objects, I returned. I'm keeping the Rift S. -
I don't have unlimited data. My latest update is about 80gb. No can do. DCS wants to update everything I have bought. I don't care about the p51, normandy terrain ETC. I just want to update the f18 and persian gulf terrain. Is there any way to do that? Thanks

Been flying the Harrier off the Kuznetsov. Takeoff with short field procedures. I haven't tested but I would imagine you could come off pretty heavy.

I,m showing my age with this statement. I spent $3000.00 on a computer in the 90's, it was a 486.

This is what you'll need to run the Pimax.

Imagine doing that and pulling 7g"s

Favorite Module in DCS with Oculus My favorite is the M-2000C by Razbam. R/ Daniel

All I know is what MSI shows. I tried to take a screenshot and it isn't working and don't feel like dealing with it. DCS 2.0 with A10c uses one processor about 90% another about 50% and 20% on the other 2. P3dv2.5 with PMDG777 is about the same as DCS, but P3dv2.5 with Milviz F4 shows all four processors at about 80%. There was a statement on the Milviz forums about not messing with the affinity mask because it interferes with the Sim. R/ Daniel

P3dv2.5 with flyinside and Milviz F4 Phantom plus Win10 under Oculus. R/ Daniel
-
With DCS I have tried upping the cockpit resolution but I don't notice much if any difference. But flyinside with P3dv2.5 has a "ultra setting" and noticeably improves the gauges. I get about 85fps in the Milviz 38 and 75 in the F4, very smooth. The only one so far that I have tried with DCS 2.0 that won't run smooth with Oculus over unpopulated areas is the Mig21. I think I'll buy the M2000 and check it out. R/ Daniel
-
Try p3dv2.5 it offloads a lot to the graphics card the 38 runs great, I think its called tesselation or something like that. Its a fantastic Oculus experience as is DCS. R/ Daniel
-
Interestingly the Milviz F4 in p3dv2.5 with flyinside is taking advantage of all four cores, or at least thats what MSI afterburner shows. I wonder if more cores would work better with that awesome sim? R/ Daniel

M2000c performance Oculus The Mig 21 struggles with performance under Oculus all other modules that I have work great. How does the M2000c perform compared to the Mig 21? R/ Daniel

I may be tarred and feathered but I believe DCS should charge for Rift implementation.:music_whistling: R/ Daniel

Installed the 980ti no noticeable difference in DCS some increase in P3D about 10% to 20%. R/ Daniel

GPU utilization is about 60% as is CPU which I thought was strange, why is the frame rate limited with more headroom? P3D with PMDG 777 one cpu core is almost 100%. In fact, I noticed more CPU and GPU utilization with DCS at 1080. I will see what happens with the 980ti. R/ Daniel
