First off - thanks for looking in to this. But, you start off your calculations with the wrong numbers. Pimax Crystal OG rendering resolution at 100% (“High” or 1.0 in Pimax Play settings) is 4312x5104 - per eye! 75% (“Balanced” or0.75) is 3,234x3,828 - per eye. You are correct in that the physical resolution of the panels are 2880x2880 per eye. But the rendering resolution is much higher - like I wrote above. The reason is to adjust for barrel distortion.

Ok, that article is just over one year old as far as I can see. Anyway, how is your performance in 2D in DCS? A guy on a Norwegian forum said he got terrible performance with Pimax Crystal after the update, but then later he discovered he also had gotten terrible performance in 2D too. I have not updated my Pimax Play yet. Only DCS. I have also heard that the external PimaxXR app OpenXR gives performance boost compared to Pimax Play Open XR. But, to make it easier I just use the Pimax Play version.

Not experienced this. But if Pimax Play OpenXR has fixed it, then why worry? Surely you don’t want to use SteamVR OpenXR runtime? And I don’t think the PimaxXR “stand alone app” - outside of Pimax Play - has been supported for a while.

50ppd has wider field of view.

With today’s update supporting the newest DLSS (4) do we need to mess around in nvidia profile inspector anymore? I do not have nvidia app installed. Also I am not on the newest nvidia driver with my RTX 4090 card.

Calvin’s reply was for the Crystal Super running in high resolution and in TAA. That means rendering in crazy high resolution for each eye. Using DLSS 4 or lowering the resolution just a bit should get you over 72 fps. And then you can run the headset at 72 fps and get it smooth. Even with lowering the rendering resolution on the Crystal super a bit you would still enjoy the fantastic pixel density of the Crystal Super and the great field of view. I can’t stand jittery and stutters in VR either.

Avoid using SteamVR for OpenXR. You fix that by choosing the right option in the Pimax Play App. You will figure that one out by checking the option inside Pimax Play.

Thanks. I think I saw that some got wrong IPD on a recent VR YouTube event and had to manually adjust it. But I think it’s strange that a major selling point like Eye Tracking is *not* on the spec list on a web shop that is selling the headset. That is why I wonder if they are selling a different version too.

Thanks Are you working at Pimax? The web site I plan to order from actually announce it with manually adjustable IPD. I found that strange. I really need to make sure about the eye tracking because running 6240x6280 without eye tracking/quad views… I know about the 57 ppd later. I rather have the wider FOV anyway. So 50 will do just fine.

Thanks. I have a question before eventually ordering - are there different models of the 50ppd Qled Crystal Super? I can not order directly from your Chinese web shop, but can order from a Norwegian retailer. On their website there is no mention of the Crystal Super headset having eye tracking. Actuality on their site it says “manually adjustable IPD”. Do all Crystal Super have eye tracking?

Not sure what to think after watching these reviews. Mura seems really bad after watching MRTV review. It´s even in a kind of a horizontal pattern, according to Sebastian at MRTV. Other reviews mention visible mura as well. For this amount of money I find that disappointing. Hard to see Mura I could tolerate, but it seems to be more than that. Chromatic aberration- my Pimax Crystal has a fair deal of it. But my Pimax Crystal Light not so much. Yeah, I have both I forget it when playing. But if it is more than my Crystal OG, then I am not so sure.

Thanks for your input Calvin. It does not help to move the headset around to help with the Not Tracked/Sensors can´t track headset issue. It seems kinda related to the USB 3.0 issue because when I click the "Learn More" which is just beside the "Sensors can´t track headset" warning it, the "Please re-plug the USB 3.0 and make sure the USB is plugged into the USB3.0 port of the computer" comes back up... See picture for what I am clicking which gives the USB3.0 re-plug warning. I got the Crystal Light to work 3 times as it should, no idea what I did. Used the same USB port. One time I re-installed graphic drivers. Next time it worked. (I did not have any problems with that driver and it was clean installed just 3 days ago, but I tried it in desperation). But after re-booting my PC the same issue came back. The other time it worked, i re-installed latest Pimax Play. So I was happy, I tried the headset in DCS. Good as ever. So I exited DCS, and since I had no problem at the time I started the Firmware update to 1.0.14 since Pimax Play asked me to do it. The text said the firmware was fixing some issues, so I hoped these would fix mine. Anyway, the firmware got to 16% and the it said it lost the contact with the headset, please re-plug, try again.. so I did - go to 16% again and same thing happened. So then I aborted the firmware update. I do not think the headset is bricked by this, because I a third time got to make it work again. No idea what I did right that time either. After a reboot the connection issue was there and not tracking. This is very strange. So I am still on latest Pimax Play and firmware 1.0.11 for the Crystal Light. I can at all times hear sound from the Crystal Light speakers by the way. And the panels is not totally dark, just very dark grey. But no star background like it should have. My other Pimax Crystal (yup I got two, one orginal and one Light . ) - the original with eye tracking works as it should. Connects just fine. Tracking and even eyetracking on that one works fine it. I use the same USB 3 port for that one. So.. Not sure what is going with my Crystal Light.

I have had my Pimax Crystal Light since the end of November. No troubles, no connection issues. Just turn on the PC and Play DCS or whatever in VR. Been so happy, no issues like I see so many others have had. Today though, out of the blue, no changes on my PC or Windows since last time.. My headset won´t work. It turns on, I can see the backlight in it, but it´s dark grey. The little power indicator on top of the headset is green. And Pimax Play shows what you can see in the picture below. And of course I have tried plugging it in and out. I have used the same USB 3 port since I got it. But I have tried many times, and now also into all my different USB 3 ports. I have also unplugged all my other USB devices, reinstalled latest Pimax Play and so on... Any ideas? I have checked my USB ports so that they don´t turn off power for power saving and such. But really - no reason it should be the problem because ... I didn´t do anything new today. So... About my system: PC: I9 13900K Asus Rog-strix z790f gaming wifi motherboard, latest Bios and drivers. Asus ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC 32 GB RAM@6000Mhz Windows 11 Home 23H2 Pimax Play latest version, installed through the app itself first, the reinstalled by downloading from Pimax Website. Crystal Light Firmware 1.0.11 , Pimax Play asks me to do firmware update to 1.0.14, but if there´s connection issues I am not sure that is a good idea.

Ok, thank you all! I have just now placed my order for the Moza base, and hopefully will have mine setup next week. The base will arrive this week I guess, from a Norwegian retailer. But I need a special mount for my Next Level Racing Flight Simulator cockpit so that I can get it low enough in my cockpit - which I luckily found on Etsy.com Seems like can get it low enough with that mount, not for 20cm extension I think. But maybe 5 or 7.5cm which I also have. Or use it without if needed.

Hi, I am considering buying a Moza AB9 FFB base and use that with a Thrustmaster grip or a Virpil grip. Now I have VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Base + 20cm extension + Thrustmaster F18 grip. And I really like the feel of the big throw of the stick itself and also the precision I get from that setup. For me it´s more immersive with a bigger throw than the smaller one you get when using the base witout any extension. Because the Moza base is so tall I don´t think I will be able to use an extension, at least not the 20cm one. Have any of you gone from a Virpil setup with an extension to using just the Moza base? Do you feel like you are missing out on something by not using an extension?

Render quality for me must be set to high. Or else distant details are not very clear. I might as well used my Pico4 or Quest 3 then... I have 13900 + 4090. No problems with stutter either. Feel sorry for those who have that problem, but it's been a long time since I had that. Probably back in my Reverb G2 days Meaning a couple of years I think.

Maybe. I have not checked it. I would not do it anyway The light is for me so much more comfortable, and I can use it for hours and hours without thinking about the batteries.

Nice. The original Crystal and Crystal light uses different methods for tracking as far as I know, so I guess that is one reason there is no update for the original Crystal. I will update my Pimax play and my Crystal Light later today. I got an original Crystal too, but it’s collecting a bit of dust these days even if it has eye tracking. The light is much more comfortable and the batteries are annoying. Edit: also the lenses on my Crystal Light are noticeably better than on my eye tracking Crystal.

Pimax Store Pimax needs to look for a new after sales support center. Once they find one, shipping to these missing countries will be addressed again. Which kinda makes sense. But they already have partnership with the online store PROSHOP.NO in Norway that sells their VR headset, but not their accessories. So I can buy their expensive headset in Norway from their partner here, but they can’t ship me a single frigging head strap because of lack of after sales support senter…. Oh well. I already have two expensive headsets from them seemingly now without any after sales support? They partnered up with a Norwegian web shop to sell them. This doesn’t make much sense to me. Calvin himself confirmed in chat with me here that PROSHOP.no indeed was a partner with Pimax.

Ok. What I found strange was that they sold to Norway before. And they actually have established a partnership with a Norwegian web store that sells their Crystal and Crystal Light headsets, but they don’t sell accessories. And I can’t pre order the coming Crystal Super there either. To customer supports credit they did actually give me a more proper answer later. So, that is an improvement. But, I would still like to order accessories from them and I might even preorder Crystal Super. Or wait. Anyway, my outburst about not receiving a proper answer is not valid anymore. I just don’t like it

Last year I bought a Pimax Crystal, with headtracking and everything. Very expensive. But it was sent from the Pimax store in China to Norway where I live. Today I wanted to buy a DMAS headphones and comfort headstrap for a Crystal Light that I also have bought. But, it is now impossible to choose Norway as country when ordering. I sent a complaint through chat on the Pimax webpage. Here´s how the chat went : ME: When ordering an item, and when I get to the shopping cart and click check out, I can not choose Norway as delivery region/country. I have an account in Pimax and have ordered from you before with no problem. But this time I can not choose Norway as a country of delivery. It is not on the drop down list of countries/regions. PIMAX: Hi,yes. The shipping region has been updated 13:43 Norway is not on the list 13:44 Yeah, Norway is not on the list... I already know that, and that is why told the, So.. plain and simple. No explanation? No way to fix this?? I can of course see that Norway is not on the list. That is why I wrote to Pimax. Yuck. Calvin! I want to buy DMAS headphones to my Crystal Light, I want to buy top comfort headstrap.. but no.. This is just silly. No reason to remove Norway. And what about my account?
