Alt+Z = Time Decelerate. Ctrl+Z = Time Accelerate Shift+Z = Time Normal. All key commands can be found in a PDF located in your start menu under Eagle Dynamics -> Ka-50. Probably a good idea to print it out, whichever one you're using (Simulation or Game). Also, all information on startup procedures, and using the auto-pilot correctly are in the Ka-50 Pilot's Manual PDF also located in the aforementioned directory. I suggest you read through them, it will help a lot. =) As Falke said, you will need to configure your PVI-800 to display the information on your HUD, or be constantly looking at your ABRIS to make sure you are on course.

MS windows sucksssssssssss for me latley
TKMR replied to FOXFIRE TWOONE's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Cases today actually have better air circulation with the cases on. ;) And that caused your system to freeze? Wow epic lame. =( Glad to hear it is working now though! :D -
AFAIK it supports 7.1. I remember seeing someone posting that they were using 7.1 and it worked excellently. I know I have a 5.1 system, and it works with that. =D Correct, because in TeamSpeak you can tell it what sound card to use for output/input, and USB headsets have their own sound card. YES! Please! The tutorials are great, but once you start playing after the tutorial is finished you are on your own, and it isn't necessarily the easiest thing to remember all the steps. Like the startup sequence. To bad the current trigger system doesn't allow for things like: Once X button is clicked, play new sound. So as you are going along, it plays the new voice, so it doesn't get ahead of you and confuse you. I believe some people in the Russian forums are working on the GUI right now, but it's mostly in the mission editor to change some things to make it easier to use. I think... that might be totally off though. I think the GUI is really cool I love the BS on the main screen, and the buttons on different parts of the helicopter. :D Oh, and I know this has been mentioned before, but I'm going to mention it again because I so desperately want it: Some way to check the headings and placements of the objects in the mission editor so we don't have to load up the game to see where the objects are. Especially the Block on Road. It is such a pain in the ass to align it with the road properly, because you can't see where it is in relation to the road in the mission editor. And making FARPs, the FARPs in my missions always suck because I don't want to expend the effort to keep loading the game, and checking where my units are in relation to the Helipads. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! ^^

That's why you get one that is specifically built for a laptop. ;)
-
When I say they are bad for gaming, I don't mean that it's not possible to game on them, it absolutely is. However you will get a LOT more bang for your buck in a desktop, plus a desktop can be customized a lot more, replacing parts, etc. Plus laptops have horrible ventilation and overheat very quickly when playing games. It is POSSIBLE to play games on them, just not necessarily the best idea. Also, I'm currently running 7, with 2GB 667Mhz DDR SDRAM and BS is very smooth.
-
Before you give up, check and see if your laptop has a PCI-E slot. If it does, buy a laptop graphics card, and you'll be good to go. =) It will get VERY hot though, so make sure to have plenty of ventilation. Also: Laptops are not gaming computers, you can play games on them, but it isn't advised because they get so hot, and you can't easily upgrade them. If you're going to play games, I advise you save up for a good desktop. =)

AFAIK, it is 9 months from the Western DVD release, which it has only been like... 3 months? since.
-
Hmmm. Yeah. Do BTR-80s, and other APCs/Tanks/IFVs etc, "scan"? Or do they only have LoS in front of them/where the turret is pointing?
-
Very true, however I hope that if tools were released to be able to create new vehicles for use by the user, that ED has some kind of approval system so only the most realistic, high fidelity AC are allowed through, and we don't end up getting crap that has an unrealistic FM, or things that are classified. And yeah, it would bring in more revenue, not less, because people would need BS to be able to fly those 3rd party AC. It's not like they would be standalone. I don't think many companies would be willing to create AC to the standards of DCS however, or be too happy about an approval system. Seriously? I think a lot of people would be interested. Especially people who build pits. And using a headset for TS isn't the same as having in-game voice, warnings, and such play through a headset while sound effects, rotor sounds, etc play through speakers.

Looking forward to some news. P= Amraam: I love you... and hate you... You're teasing is soooooooo driving me crazy, but you're videos are sooooooooo sexy. It's very useful if there is wind trying to turn your helicopter, or yes if you are trying to do an overview hover. If you have it on, you can still do emergency maneuvers to avoid buildings, or hills, the helo will just take longer to start yawing, take longer to yaw, and then begin to yaw back to the original heading once you are done with your awesome-spinny-maneuver of d00m. It helps you bank, and fly sideways easier as well. You should ALWAYS be moving during an attack though. I really wish I had TrackIR for this reason... trying to pan my view + fly + lock targets with shkval = DIFFICULT. Leroy: Sounds you are fighting the AP a lot... read the manual, and do the training missions. It WILL help. I know it's a daunting task, and I didn't want to do it either. I flew for awhile before doing it, and never did really well. But after I started reading the manual, and doing the training missions I've become a lot better. I still haven't finished, but I control the helo now, the helo doesn't control me. ;)

Bug in Windows? I would experience that occasionally in Win XP, my mouse would randomly jump around. Try clearing the area around the optical sensors of your mouse too, hair gets in there and screws things up. You probably already did that though.

How frustrating... So much for my attempt to create a realistic convoy of units... EDIT: For some reason my fingers find it necessary to type an e in units, right after the T... Thought you all might find that amusing. =)
-
So if the group is inactive, they won't be engaged? That would be perfect for a roadside bomb. As the convoy begins to roll past (and you fail at spotting a randomly stopped vehicle in the road.... good job =P) big boom. But as soon as the group is active they will be engaged, correct? So if he is travelling (toward or away from the group), my BTR-80s will engage them, which doesn't leave much to the player. Unless I totally misunderstood you, which has been known to happen XD.

Is there some way to set a faction to neutral, or something of the sort? I'm attempting to create a mission in which there are car bombers that try to destroy a convoy you are tasked with escorting, but I've run into a problem I didn't even think about. Ground unites will engage any enemy unit that they see. If the car bombers are an enemy faction, they will be engaged and destroyed by the ground unites before he gets a chance to get close to the convoy. This would make the mission pretty pointless for the pilot. If the bombers are a friendly faction, you will be committing fratricide. I can't really think of a solution. I looked through the manual to see if there was any mention of this sort of thing, and didn't find one. Does anyone know of a way where I can accomplish this, or will I just have to scrap the mission? =/

Engine vibration in 3 minutes of dust - why?
TKMR replied to VS461's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Have you done any tests to reproduce? eg Find an empty field, get down low, and hover in the dust. See how long it takes. I would think it would take a couple hours, but what do I know. -
Do "start on ramp" instead of "start on runway" Another way to correct interior sounds, is to open/close the door quickly if you are still on the ground. (Right Ctrl+C)

Win. Damnit. Already gave you rep somewhere else. =( Aim for it, and eject? XD -
If I recall correctly, when taking off from Airbase/FARP my wingmen's lights are always on until they are actually in formation with me. So since this seems to be a check ("check for leader, if no leader, find lead and rejoin" or something similar), if that check fails and they don't have an order, they turn the lights on? I think I also remember their lights turning on as soon as I tell them to RTB as well.

AFAIK the a patch doesn't actually do anything other than make it so that there isn't the localization issues with the English versions, doesn't do anything with the code regarding the AI. When they do this, you are completely out of their line of sight, correct? What about flying to them and making sure you're in their LoS so they see you and know where to go?

Is there a way to stay on Frigate Heli Pad after touchdown?
TKMR replied to Kilo_60's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
He may not be patched. -
I'm working on a mission (in a campaign, which I hope to post when finished), in which some high profile "insurgents" flee from advancing special forces in the small white civilian car (don't recall the name off the top of my head). Now according to the in-game encyclopedia, the maximum speed for this vehicle is 150Km/h, but in the mission editor when I am setting waypoints, it will only allow me to have the vehicle travel at a speed of 120Km/h. Am I doing something wrong? I've also noticed that if I'm placing a Tank, who's maximum speed is something like 70Km/h, I can set it's speed to 120Km/h in the editor. Kind of confused, and frustrated here. Any advice?

Edit the mission to make the frigate stationary? =P -
With your dedicated sound card, do you have some kind of weird settings? Like forcing it to go through a equalizer, or reverb effects, normilzation effects, or anything like that? If so try turning them off and see if that helps. I'm plum out of ideas after this though, other than a re-install (did you say you did that? can't remember, maybe that was another thread)
