I can really see the difference on your pictures. The weird thing is that I was testing the v-sync on and off cause I get some screen tearing when I have it set to off and I could notice a big improvment with the screen tearing when I have v-sync forced to on so it seems that it is loading the profile but on my pictures I can't really see any difference. I have to post an example and see if you can see the difference.

Sorry for not writing down that info. I have a 22" HD monitor running 1920x1080 native.

I know the question sounds stupid but I have a GTX 275 Nvidia card and I have enabled advanced graphics settings, adding dcs.exe (I hope this is the startup file in dcs cause there is also the launcer.exe file). I have enabled AF 16x and AA 16xQ. I have tried to make a screen dump with the settings on and off to compare (with the helicopter on the ground with some objects in the background) but I can't seem to see any notable difference. Is it easy to see the difference or is it just little things thats hard to see? If this question has been covered please just point me to that thread cause I can only find threads on how to enable it in nvidia controll panel and people who have problems with different drivers. I have recently gonne back to 185.85 drivers to see if I get better results.

I see that you are talking about DCSmax again. Is this little magic program still usefull after the latest patch? I read that after the new patch DCS utilizes all cores correctly (even though I can see that some have problems with this). I'm running Windows 7 so should I still use DCSmax?

Yes and the impact on my system with windows 7 was notable indeed and thats the main thing for me :) Thanks, I hope it will be stable cause DCS freezed for me yesterday at one point but it could just have been a hickup :)

Hmm I don't follow you on this one. What you are saying is that windows 7 is the same operating system as vista? I find this hard to believe. Windows 7 does not look the same and it use memory much better and some other things. Do you have any sources on your info? If you mean that they took Vista and improved it and called it Windows 7, well that is the same as a new Windows in my opinion. Anyways I think it is an improvement to Vista.

Yes offcourse its a creative brand :). Its the HS1000 gamingheadphones with a built in X-FI soundcard and alchemy worked for me under vista. Well in my case when I try to install alchemy it says that it cant detect any creative hardware and then it quits installing. Maybe if it detects the hardware you might not notice that it looks for it when trying to install.

The thing is that there is allready a converter from the xbox input to a usb input and with the ppjoy program for XP you can remap every button on the steel battalion controller but what we need is to make ppjoy work in vista and windows 7 or another program that do the same.

But I have installed the regular sound drivers first. I have tried with the normal vista x64 drivers and the win 7 drivers for my headphones but neither of them let me install alchemy cause it does not detect any creative compatible hardware.

How did you get alchemy to run on windows 7? I have the release version of windows 7 ultimate installed (I get it through my work) and I have the HS1000 USB X-FI gaming headphones that supports alchemy but when I try to install alchemy it doesnt detect any creative hardware on my computer.

I have problems with Alchemy in windows 7 ultimate (the real version) cause I can't get it to install. It says that it cant detect any creative hardware on my computer. I'm in for sure! Played Battletech, all mechwarrior games and I even have steel battalion with the giant controller for xbox :D

Ok now I have done everything in my power to get the maximum FPS in DCS. 1: Overcloked my CPU from 3 Ghz to 3.6 Ghz 2: Overclocked my new GFX card (GTX 275) as much as a could within safe limits 3: Installed windows 7 (had vista x64 before) I have now gonne from 18 FPS to 38 FPS in one location where I jave been testing (over a town at low altitude). Averange FPS so far is about 55. I have everything on highest accept that I just have normal on water, 1910 x 1080. It has been a struggle with many days of tweaking but now I'm satisfied :D

I did not have any problems installing the patch in the first place either, I mean I did not install DCS again because off that, I did it because I installed windows 7 so I don't know but anyway, it worked installing over the old install and over the fresh, the only thing I had to do was to activate with the licence key again after the fresh install.

Thanks but to late :/. I saved the wrong script folder and now after the new install I have lost my pilots log so I have to do everything all over again :(

Thanks, I'm also on the 1.0.1 patch now but I read that some people had to uninstall and then reinstall DCS first but mine seem to work. I'm from Sweden and first I didn't know what you meant by R.T.F.M so I searched on google and I was like WTF??? o.O. I have read the manual, all pages but well it is almost 400 pages and I can't remember finding an answer for my question in there :)

Maybe this is already covered somewhere but I have searched for an answer but can't find anyone. If I want to uninstall DCS and then reinstall it and want to keep my progress what files do I need to backup?

Well now I have my new GFX card and I have been testing 20 different configurations considering the overclock off my CPU and found one that is rather stable. The weird thing is that when I tested the same configuration before I changed my GFX card the CPU temp reached 77 degrees celsius before I turned off Prime95 test program, with my new GFX card I have a maxtemp off 69 degrees celsius and thats ok. How can the GFX help the CPU to get cooler? I have run Prime95 with Realtemp in blended mode for 2.5 hour. I whent into settings when I first started to use the program and choose to test both cores and the only thing is that my second core gets an fatal error after 18 min, the same error I got every time but much earlier, the first core goes on without any problems. Is it okay to use this configuration or is it in any way dangerous to my computer? I mean the temp on my CPU is all okay. This is my configuration; Vcore 1,435v FSB 400x9 FSB volt 2.0v This gives me 3600 Mhz By the way. Tested DCS before changing the GFX card and after, at the same place and same mission and I could not see any change in the frame rate, thats rather dissapointing. I thought I could get some change anyway from having a 9600GT to a GTX 275 geforce :/

Yes you are right I guess. I know that the P5K SE has its limitations, the normal P5K and deluxe variations is more into overclocking but then I have also read about many people that made it possible but I cant find just my configuration and people often just say that it worked for them but without any further explanation for a noob like me :). Well I tried playing DCS for a short while with the configuration that did not exeed the 70 celsius temp and with 3.6 Ghz and had no problems. Framerate went up about 10 FPS more or less but I dont like using a computer thats not entirely stable so I think I will go back to the default settings for now and tomorrow I hope with the GTX 275 Geforce I will get some improvment anyways. Well I have been testing different configurations all day, 11 hours of work and I can't think of any more ways to do this. For me to get 3.6 Ghz I have to use a Vcore of 1.425v and an FSB of 400x9. If I get any higher in the Vcore I get a maxtemp on my cpu:s at 77 celsius when working at 96% and thats to high, I want it at 70 celsius or lower but even though I get a decent maxtemp with that configuration I get a fatal error in Prime95 when testing (fatal error rounding was 0.5 expected less then 0.4). I think this is a memory problem but I don't get it at default settings so something is not right. I think I give up for now :/
