Manual for 1.1 is available on site (former 'Good news!')
VapoR replied to Dmut's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
OMG ED you rock!! We love you!! Does this make me a fanboy now? -
Even better idea: have the dedicated server handle only the network traffic and the DC (no graphics, sound, etc). Each client would have their own bubble, and anything in it would be updated from the server (objects outside of it the client wouldn't need). A 24-7 dynamic war could occur this way, and all of us would be in sim bliss!! :D Of course, I'm not a programmer and don't know if this would even work lol.
-
I'm in agreement with you here, ED has a history of not meeting their set deadlines. Maybe a simple Q1, 2, 3, 4 would suffice. This way, people won't get upset when a November or January deadline are not met . . .

Actually, there is an X-Wing for Strike Fighters!!

Lock On: Flaming Cliffs Distribution Option Polling

Well, I guess it's to have something tangible that I purchased. A nice printed out copy in hand (maybe even just like the CIS gets, but with the western version on it) feels like you really purchased something. Of course, I'm very impatient and would want to download on day one as well. -
Lock On: Flaming Cliffs Distribution Option Polling

I would like to both download and get the CD sent. If a mailed CD becomes an option, would this be possible? Of course I would gladly pay the upgrade cost . . . -
Q for Alfa and the Flankerheads - Su33 roles?
VapoR replied to britgliderpilot's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
LMAO!!!! -
Thanks! This helps quite a bit. I was having trouble figuring out how to map it with bands on the microstick. With my old X-45 I could just map them as buttons.

This is IMO a very serious problem. ED needs to abandon the way tracks are handled since it slows down their development SOO much. Remember 1.02? We all had to wait much longer just so they could get the bloody training tracks to work right. Maybe do away with the track system alltogether, but I guess alot of people would be upset. I personally have NEVER used it for anything. It's more fun to fly than to watch yourself in a replay . . .
-
I mostly fly the Su-25 and A-10 and I map the ministick on my X-52 to slew the crosshairs for targetting. Problem is, you have to use the radar axes to do so. When I occasionally fly a fighter, I would like to be able to slew the target designator with the ministick. With my microstick mapped to the radar axes, I can't do this. Has this been changed in 1.1?

Caretaker, the 3 points you list above hit the nail on the head. I wouldn't mind flying over some "bland" areas on the way to my target area. Even so, you look at the "unfinished" areas of Lomac's current map and it's actually not bad looking at all!! The 3rd party idea is a great one, IMO. If they released a map-building tool to selected people they could all be on the same page with it. I am sure there are a few people in the community who would be glad to help out for free (with a mention in the credits  ). This way, the manpower could be doubled at essentially no cost to ED.
-
This is my thinking exactly!! Not that the current area is bad, it's just that there are many other better areas for a war.

Increasing airbases possible? **Check out SK's work!
VapoR replied to D-Scythe's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
This is actually a VERY good idea!! Just a base or two across the Black Sea to fly from, maybe it would even be possible to complete about 10-20 sq miles around the base, just so it would look like the rest of the map. -
That's what this thread is about . . . But really, I'm curious about others feelings for timeframe, theatre, and flyables.
-
I dunno. I've seen a video of Mirage 2000's going through the alps, it was a really long video. I don't have a link to it though . . .
-
Well there's alot of stuff like this all over the internet. I'm sure others could post some good examples, like the Archer video.

I thought this would interest alot of people, especially with the work being done on the F1 model. I found it over at the Fighter Ops forums. The raindrops sliding off the canopy is very cool . . . http://mapage.noos.fr/s-scope4/goodies/AudioVideo/decollage_mirage_F1.avi

There is a new video at lockonskins.co.uk that shows the full panning in the 25t real well. Also, I think the views have been adjusted for all the flyables--the seat is set higher, and you also can look a bit further back than before.

I guess it's kinda early to talk about this, but maybe it will help ED make decisions . . . What would you like to see in a sucessor to Lomac? This is what I think would be really cool: Scenario: --Hypothetical "cold war gone bad" set in the 80's. Warsaw Pact vs. Nato. This could open up HUGE possibilities of war on a grand scale. A side benefit would be that weapons systems wouldn't be quite as complex as would a scenario set in today's time. Possible Theatres: --Kola Peninsula --Bering Straits (portions of USSR, US and maybe Canada in there) --Eastern Europe --This one's a little far-out, but it could be lots of fun: West Coast, US (invasion of US by USSR, sort of like Red Dawn lol) Possible Flyables: --MiG-29 --Su-25 --MiG-23/27 --F-15A or C --A-10 --Jaguar . . . and maybe some others :P So what do you guys think? Any other interesting ideas?
-
I like this idea. It would also be very cool if it had an in-game browser, chat lobby, buddy list, private messaging, etc . . . But I guess that will take a bit of resources, and I personally would like it if they put all available into the sim itself instead.
-
I totally agree with you. Why are flight simmers so whiny about the price of the sim?? They spend hundreds of dollars on upgrades, HOTAS setups, TrackIR, etc. but balk at having to spend more than $20 on software. ED really needs to get paid well. They've earned it. Plus, the more money they make, the more they will have available to go into future product. I will pay whatever it takes to get this add-on, whether it's $15 or $150.
-
Sweet!! No I can justify spending money on the Vector Expansion!!

Lock On: Air Combat Simulation patch??
VapoR replied to Retroboy's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Same thing. Lock-on: Modern Air Combat is the name used in the US. The 1.0--102 is the one you need . . .
