  1. If your case layout is good, you can get along fine with air cooling with an i5, unless you're planning to engage in some extreme overclocking. You might spend the money saved on watercooling on a 1TB HDD for extra storage. Also, you can get 7600k for the same price as a 6600k.
  2. Good info, thanks
  3. I'm in the market for a new rig, and I'm trying to decide what components I'm going to use. So far, I've decided on the following: Intel core i5 4590 16gb DDR3 RAM That leaves the major components of a motherboard, GPU and SSD. It will also be a general purpose workstation, and I don't overclock. I'd like to keep my budget around $800 USD. Any suggestions? Thanks

  6. Sure, if it's relatively simple to do. I assume it is, since that portion of the map was already created for LOMAC. Of course, that's just an assumption. Otherwise, leave it until the projects already underway are done.
  7. Sweet. Thanks SJ
  8. Is there a single up to date list of servers and squadrons outside of the sticky threads? Scrolling through 50+ pages of text to find information that is sometimes more than five years old is less than ideal.
  9. Damn, you must really love this sim if you're using your scarce free time in basic to post in the forums. I know gaming wasn't even on my radar during basic. I think my mind was occupied with graduation, food, sleep and nookie, in that order. Good luck!
  10. If you can afford $17,000 for a hunting rifle, and you're not a good enough shot to hit what you're aiming at without computer assistance, why are you hunting in the first place? I think one of the commenters may be on to something:

  12. Nothing? Oy vey.
  13. Posted this one about HOTAS button inputs not working in another thread, no reply there as of yet: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1608533&postcount=4
  14. +1
  15. I'm having a similar problem. None of the switches on my HOTAS stick and throttle work when I'm in the F1 cockpit view, but they work in the F2 external view. It happens when I'm flying the Su-25T in 1.2.2. I haven't tried the alt-tab trick, I'll see if it helps. Edit: Alt-Tab didn't have an effect. My specs follow. DCSW 1.2.2.X with DCS:WH 1.2.2.X, DCS:BS2 1.2.2.X (Upgrade), FC3 1.2.2.X, and DCS:CA 1.2.2.X DxDiag attached. DxDiag.txt
  16. I'm sure there's a 3rd party developer out there who would be willing to tackle it, provided there's enough of a market for the product.
  17. Absolutely, without a doubt.
  18. I've given up on it. Too fiddly.
  19. Not true. The BS2 1.2.0.0 DCSW module will not install unless BS1 is physically present on the hard drive. Doesn't matter if the key is in your registry, which was my specific complaint. edit: of course, it may just be searching for the executable. if i can delete everything else and just leave the executable on the hard drive, i can live with that.
  20. Have you set the pilot skill to "player" in the mission editor?
  21. 3 Rs: 1. Reading (study and ask questions until it makes sense) 2. References (checklists, charts, etc.) 3. Repetition (try practice missions until you can do it in your sleep)
  22. Eagle Dynamics' digital distribution and authentication system is pretty robust and reliable. I wouldn't worry about not being able to access your downloads or switch machines. You can download as many times as necessary, for as long as you like, and their DRM system lets you deactivate on one machine and reactivate on another if you choose. If you ever have activation or installation problems, their customer service is speedy and reliable. All you need to do is send an email or post on the forums. Most times, you'll have the issue resolved within a day or two.
  23. Why does the DCS:BS2 upgrade version patch for DCSW check for the presence of DCS:BS1? That's just silly. You can't install BS2 without authenticating BS1 first. And the BS1 authentication key remains in the registry unless you deliberately remove it. Making players reinstall BS1 in order to apply a patch for BS2 is going overboard.
