  1. Took out the good ol’ 19 today and she could really perform, was rather impressed with her missiles  I would even go as far as saying she could take the 21’s place as a Red leader.. Saw your youtube clip from the other day, when you were wrestling that Pig in the Hog..yes, that was me with 70% fuel, 9 MK83’s, 6 Mavericks and 4 sidewinders with no missiles fired, oh and a piece of my wing missing. I’m still surprised how it went like it did.. is that what you call playing with the food?
  2. There is no EWR for F5’s and Viggens on the current mission. We even put out 2 new ones and still nothing. The A10 gets call backs Is there a trigger perhaps that can announce when an airbase is under attack? The new rainy overcast weather at Phone Booth was 10/10!
  3. I think Brown proposed this before, and I think it would be a nice touch. Any chance that we can start the missions in early morning stages when it is still dark? This would give the Hilos a bit of coverage for the ground work that is usually done. It also looks pretty damn awesome, think we all can agree on that :)
  4. Just some info: the R13M1 is basically an aim-9G/J hybrid, has a bigger rocket motor for longer range, and a better tracker than the aim-9B(R3S, RB24), has the same control fins(canards) as the aim-9P... so that's why it has a 7G limit and 7KM range.
  5. Those Mig19’s have suddenly become pretty hard to shoot down hehe.. one hell of a turner I must say..
  6. I’m pretty sure you have some great data here, but I can tell you one thing, that what ever the Mig21 launched at me on yesterday Desert has Eyes mission, chased me down, and I was going 800km/h pulling straight up, and it still hit me. This kind of maneuver of mine could have worked on a R60. One thing is real life data and another is DCS environment.
  7. We will for sure miss the RB75/AGM65 on the Viggen, but if this means that we can have a better balance and less of those RB75 air to air guys out there then so be it. Bottom line is that your server is a place of balance and fun, which I think you have nailed with your last weapon spread sheet. [DEVILS] NELLUS
  8. Wow.. hehe, not sure if you have noticed but the AJ37 is not using the Mavs anymore.. so this whole presentation should have been presented on another server.. Alpenwolf is changing the mission one by one.
  9. Good stuf, saw loads of CAP going on yesterday, had loads of fun, even though I got shot down. Great base for all the future cold war planes and helicopters that are on the horizon.
  10. I’m presuming you are talking about the RB74, the 75 is an AGM. Yep, the RB74 is a pretty good air to air missile, but so is the R60M. This is why we were promoting the rear aspect missile concept for the Cold War server. Yesterday showed us that it can be even more fun with some good old tail chasing.
  11. Some feed back from the team: We all had some issues with the Rb24, it didn't want to lock and was totally unreliable. I think Heatblure have forgotten about it in their updates. RB24J work as it should. Extremely sensitive to flares so it took a bit of work and luck to get one on target. The missile amount needs to be increased, but I’m sure you already have that planned.
  12. The server was packed tonight, and for a good reason. Great work with the rear aspect missiles!! This should be the way forward as you mentioned on the sim chat. [DEVILS] NELLUS
  13. I agree here, the R13M vs Aim-9P / RB24J is a logical balance. The 21 can carry 6 missiles compared to F5 and Viggens which can only carry x2 sidewinders.
  14. I think that you are on the right path Alpenwolf, rear aspect, CAP and favorable conditions for the Hilos is a great recipe. Below is some info about the AGM65: In July 1971, the USAF and Hughes signed a $69.9 million contract, first of which was delivered in 1972. Although early operational results were favorable, military planners predicted that the Maverick would fare less successfully in the hazy conditions of Central Europe, where it would have been used against Warsaw Pact forces. As such, development of the AGM-65B "Scene Magnified" version began in 1975 before it was delivered during the late 1970s. When production of the AGM-65A/B was ended in 1978.
  15. You got some good points here, and I agree with you that the BK90 is definitely from the later stages of the cold war era.. and definitely not essential for any Viggen operations, was just fun to try out occasionally. I think going rear aspect could become interesting for the fighters, but I’m not sure how the strikers would like that. The SU25 has the R60M and A10 the 9M. Someone mentioned a page or two back, that a strike operation should always be accompanied by fighters. This would solve the missile free strikers issue. ps. Fly the Mig19 in the speed bracket of not slower than 650km/h and max 800km/h. This is prime for turn fighting. And if you can, dont bring fuel tanks with, you got ton of fuel with you anyway. 16. LazzySeal, no one is trying to be Alpha here, we are just sharing experiences.. not sure why you are so sensitive on this subject? You are right that the missiles should be matched up, and I would advice as well to only have rear aspect missiles on the server. But when I see that the 21’s have 260 R60M’s at startup and the Viggen only has 50 Rb74’s (aim9L) then something is not right. You either go rear aspect missiles only, or you stick to an even amount of missiles with all aspect capabilities.. and definitely not giving one plane just enough for a few engagements, and then being stuck with a ton of rear aspect missiles (RB24J which is Aim9P3).
  17. I agree with Brown, being historically correct and using weapons from a certain era/time frame is part of the experience. The reasoning behind a weapon selection for the cold war server should be a simple one.. and that is; “was this weapon used in this time and era by a certain aircraft”. If it is a yes then surely it should have the ability to arm itself accordingly, and not have some kind of golfers handicap applied to it. I have flown the Mig19 several times and been giving F5’s and Viggens hell on the field, it all comes down to how you use it and being aware of the aircrafts limitations. Starting to limit planes historically correct armaments just because one feels inadequate seems odd and should not even be a discussion. We are all here on the cold war server for one reason only and that is to experience how planes used to perform in those days.. and Not how they were Limited in those days just to give a plane a handicap that it did not deserve in the first place. My suggestion is to start taking away planes/helicopters that has no place on this server. Harrier/Ka50 etc.. and make things absolutely clear and simple. Change the name time frame to 1947-1979 if you have to just to clarify on what time frame is in use.
  18. Hehe, yea, good luck to those that try that in a dogfight  The R74 air to air Viggen missile(aim9L Sidewinder, aka Lima) was also reduced on the ‘ones upon a time in Abu Dhabi’ mission. This should be corrected.
  19. The Ship Ahoj mission is currently on. The RB74 missiles are way less then the R60M’s on the Red side. We have about 9 left available and 90% of the viggens have been doing air to ship strikes. This is after 30 min of game play. The Red’s have 163 60M’s available on Batumi and 256 60M’s on Sukhumi.
  20. Got a screen from the message, buds of mine has the tac if requested.
  21. Alpenwolf, just a heads up, the Battle over Sukhumi unleashed has a fault when the Blue side have taken all the objectives. The 15 min victory message comes up, but the server does not rotate. We continued flying for another hour before it rotated.
  22. Search & Destroy and Desert has Eyes are in my opinion the best missions out there. Both teams have 2-4 objectives to either defend or destroy. Simple is usually best. The focus among the CAP flyers tend to fade as soon as there are too many objectives to work with. This is usually when things turn into a Quake situation. It is absolutely vital for the Hilo community to have Farps placed close to the action. This has become rather clear in the Search & Destroy mission which has taken the dynamic warfare approach to the next level. Combined arms has really flourished here. [DEVILS]
  23. The A10 is extremely slow, and even if the missile is all aspect it almost never catches up with the faster opponents. It takes allot out of the missile to get up to speed, and then try to catch up.
  24. While you are at it Brown, why dont you mention the KA50 and the Vikhr missiles? 1995.. :music_whistling: We can get picky..
  25. Any chance to get the Viggen cluster bomb BK90 on all missions, since it is part of the standard weapon arsenal.
