I am upgrading my system from a C2D 6700 to an i7-750. I'm adding a new GTX470 video card. I would like to be able to drive 3 or 4 separate, independent monitors -- not one large spanned display. But I don't want to go SLI. My question is can I add my old 8800GTS 640 MB card in the 2nd or 3rd PCI-e slot and have Win7 recognize it as a separate display adapter. I want to drive 28-inch 1900 x 1200 and 20" 1600 x 1200 displays from the GTX570 and 17" 1280 x 1024 and 15" 1024 x 760 displays from the 8800GTS. I have tried researching and seem to see two answers: no and yes! :) Does anyone have experience with a multi-monitor nVidia non-SLI install under Win7?

G940 Throttle axis input issue
blaster454 replied to Doogie009's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm not real sure what you are saying here. I've attached a picture of my G940 axis settings in the sim. The Throttle will show as Joy Y and Joy X for the left and right throttles, respectively. That is because the G940 registers itself as three separate input devices (or "Joysticks"). So as long as you are clicked in the correct column (G-940 throttle) and double click the left throttle box in that column, when you move your left throttle back and forth it should register itself with the game as Joy Y. This is working OK for me in the sim. I'm sorry if I misinterpreted your issue. If so, please try to describe it again and I'll do what I can. -
I can understand this. But the default eye position (both up/down and fore/aft) is, for me, too far forward and too high. Even with TrackIR, I find it difficult to lean in and get good views of the MFCDs or CDU. Are there predefined snap views or can a snap view be defined that will zoom on the various displays to make in-flight head down work easier?

DCS:A-10C Keystroke Assugnments So far, I have been unable to locate keystroke assignments for some of the cockpit switches. They are not listed in the current list of keystrokes and I am still looking through configuration lua files to see what I can discover. Are their keystrokes assigned for all in-cockpit clickable switches (or at least, can keystrokes be assigned to all clickable switches)? For example, I have not found any of the electrical switches keystrokes yet. Is this planned for final release?

SFJackBauer's Saitek X-52 Profile
blaster454 replied to SFJackBauer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Nice profile! I wonder if you are getting the sim to recognize short-long button presses and if you had to do any tweaking of key repeat rates to get results? -
How does one use virtual keys in the sim? That would be very useful.

Here is a pdf file that I put together quickly so there might be errors. And I expect there will be changes as they continue to refine the beta. But it is a start. :) A-10C KEYS.pdf

DCS Warthog beta forums login problem
blaster454 replied to 159th_Jojo's topic in Forum and Site Issues
Where, exactly, is the link for accessing the DCS:WH beta forum? I don't see it and see no reference to a beta forum on the forum's main page. EDIT: Found the link on my payments page. It was not there earlier so maybe it took a while to process. -
We were all rookies at one time so don't let that deter you. There are many good squads that enjoy online co-op play with DCS and FC2. Take a look at their home pages and join in on their Team Speak servers ... many have open servers and the best way to assess a squad is to get in there and ask questions. It's also a great and fun way to learn! :)

So when does your NDA expire? ;)

Could someone please give a comparison and contrast between SOI (sensor of interest) and SPI (or SPOI, sensor point of interest). I can understand the SOI acronym as applied to the 3 cockpit displays since the display does in effect, become the sensor to the pilot since there is no other convenient way for him/her to interact with the sensor. I don't as of yet understand SPI though.

I wonder if the DCS:A-10C will have alternate bomb delivery modes. I'm thinking specifically about toss or loft bombing (hard bombs, or CBU's or GBU's). Is low level pop-up toss delivery a valid tactical (and FCS technical) approach with the A-10C? Also, how about a high altitude loft to increase range?

The USAF, and most other air forces I imagine, impose fairly strict crew rest requirements on flight crew members (pilots, co-pilots, Wizzos, Navs, etc). But if you read very deeply into recent AF conflicts (Vietnam and after), it was not uncommon at all for combat crews to do 3 or more hot turns in a single duty period. That could mean many, many hours in a cramped cockpit. I am certain that multiple combat sorties back to back has a strong effect on pilot effectiveness. But they did the missions just the same. On the other side of the rated fence, ground support people often work multi shifts to keep the combat crews turning. I can remember spending almost 48 hours non-stop loading a wing of B52's, packing and then crawling onto KC-135 tankers where the comfort level was missing and sleep was in short spurts. After a long ride we got off and armed fuzes for another 15 or so hours in Guam. It happens and is a requirement for extreme mission performance and that is one of the reasons that military service, for the most part, is a young person's world. Of course, that was before someone decided to do sleep deprivation studies--we never knew we were tired. :megalol:

Is there any chance of having satellite view in the ME for DCS:A-10C? It sure would make object placement much easier and more accurate.

Thrustmaster Warthog Preview CheckSix + Video!
blaster454 replied to Nightmare's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
What do you think about the plastic insert that is used to control whether there is an AB detent? When it's set up for an aircraft with AB, I wonder if moving the throttle to full military power (against the stop) eventually will cause wear or a failure? Did it look like that small plastic piece had a metal insert in it? -
This is impressive and more that I was expecting! I am especially pleased with the virtual JTAC and Battlefield Commander functions that will make this sim a great CAS platform. Add in the AI improvements and the Mission Editor additions and enhancements and I can see some very interesting and realistic online missions coming!

Multiple Input Devices (X52Pro and Cougar MFD's)
blaster454 replied to stingen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
all the above :smilewink: Most especially, clear the categories for each of your devices (MFD1, MFD2, and X52Pro). Then look at each command and decide where you want it to be programmed ... and you can program each command for more than one device (e.g., you could have a command programmed to your MFD1 button 1 and also to your HOTAS button 4 ... just an example). So, first, click under the MFD1 column header in any of the commands and then click Clear Category. This will erase all the programmed functions under MFD1. Do the same for MFD2 and then X52 Pro. Then, program each command as you want it. For example, suppose you want the keystroke to set your HUD to NAV MODE programmed to be the first button on the left of your first MFD. You would scroll to the command for NAV MODE (keystroke "1") and click in the box that intersects that command with the device (here, MFD1). Then click the ADD button and it will pop up a dialog box to set the command ... don't move any controls or press any keys except the one you want to program for that command. In this case, you would press the top row, left button and the dialog box would fill in with MFD1 Button 1. Click OK and it is done. You can also double click in the respective box rather than single click and then click the ADD button. Your MFD buttons are numbered from 1 to 20 starting at the top left and going clockwise around the MFD. The rocker switches are numbered 21 to 28 after that. Look in you MFD docs for details. Remember that "Button n" (n being any number up to the max for a controller) is not the same for MFD1 or MFD2 or X52Pro ... each is a different button and can have it's own command programmed. Hope this helps some. -
TM Warthog HOTAS & MFD Mapping
blaster454 replied to blaster454's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thank you, Eddie ... I am glad they are OSB mapped  -
In another thread, there were two pics of the DCS:A-10C HOTAS control assignment tables. This release of info was very much appreciated. I wonder if it is possible to also release the mapping for the TM MFD's? Or, is it just a mapping to OSB positions that correspond to what the current MFCD displays show?

Here is the Genovation product page ... probably can find some answers there. http://www.genovation.com/683.htm It comes with it's own Windows software for programming. Whether it would show up in the sim like the TM MFD's I think depends on whether it's recognized as a game controller. I'd guess that it is not ... but that doesn't mean it could not be registered as a game controller. Perhaps someone with some Windows knowledge will give some answers or maybe it's buried in the documentation or maybe user forums somewhere.

Multiple Input Devices (X52Pro and Cougar MFD's)
blaster454 replied to stingen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Stingen, can you post a screen shot of your options/controls window ... scroll sideways so that the keyboard column is hidden so we can see what you have in the game. -
Multiple Input Devices (X52Pro and Cougar MFD's)
blaster454 replied to stingen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
When you go into the options menu in FC2, click on controls. You should see your X52 Pro HOTAS and two MFD's listed as separate controllers. They will be after the keyboard assignments and their order will be determined by their controller ID in windows (whci you don't have to worry about). To assign a function to one of your controllers, make sure you click (select) in the column that is headed by that controller (e.g., MFD1, MFD2, X52 PRO, ...) You do not need JoyToKey for the MFD's ... just make sure you installed their Thrustmaster drivers and they should be recognized as separate controllers. You can use separate applications to map to your controllers but that is making it more difficult if you are a beginner. Just make sure your MFD's are installed correctly then map those inside the game or sim (FC2 here) as I described above. You use either the SST software (profiler) to map your joystick and throttle or you can map them in the sim under the OPTIONS/CONTROLLERS tabs. You can also combine these mappings if you make sure you do not have a functioned mapped in both the profiler and in the sim ... they will conflict. Clear as mud, I'll bet! :) Take your time and work on one controller at a time. Also, be sure to clear out any default mappings that may be in the FC2 application before you start mapping your own. The sim assumes some defaults that are incorrect and those need to be cleared to avoid conflicts. Hope this helps. -
Lio, we in the War Hawks are already practicing joint A-10 & Ka-50 joint operations with both airframes playing in the CAS role and the attack role. I can assure you that FC2 is anything but silly when trying to fly a strike mission directed by one or more HFAC's down in the weeds looking for targets that are pretty well hidden in the trees while trying to avoid the AA and missiles. It is heart-thumping excitement and hard work!! I am sure Ed will do a lot to try to improve the AI for DCS-A-10C but I think anything AI-related will able to be improved upon in the dynamic CAS mission roles in multi-player mode. It takes good human-to-human interaction to make this type mission come alive. :) You are welcome to join us if you are interested in on line flying with FC2 and Black Shark (for now :smilewink:).
