Did anyone get the input parser batch files in DCS A-10C\Config\Input\Input_parser? As in Beta 4, I only have three files here (parser.lua, registers.lua, and !ReadMe.txt). If anyone has the batch files, could you please post them in user files?
-
As far as I can tell, the input parser in DCS:A10C is broken. The batch files are not there in Beta 4 and I can't get an answer as to whether they will be fixed in Beta 6 or the RC (if they are different).
-
Since when is asking if features will be restored that were already in the DCS series but were broken during beta considered to be a new features request? I am disappointed by this move.
-
Beta 6 question Will the input parser be included in Beta 6? Also, will the scrolling of the first column in the controls dialog (under Options) be fixed so it is like BS (first column doesn't scroll)? I saw no mention of these in the change lists.

Happy New Year to All ... and especially to the ED team of developers and testers. You've done a fantastic job this year and next year I'm sure will be even better. Enjoy your holiday ED!

Warthoggers: Updated firmware released
blaster454 replied to topdog's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I really think this is a TM Warthog firmware issue. I have the WH HOTAS and the TM MFD's plugged into the same powered USB hub. When I power down the computer, the MFD lights go off and the HOTAS lights stay on. I am thinking this should be an easy firmware fix for TM. -
Well, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say I may have learned the art of irony before you did. :smilewink: And no, I don't think irony means made of iron ... any more than you think Aluminium is the correct way to pronounce that shiny metal. Yes, it was meant to be irony ... perhaps I could have been more metallic! :D

I've been "playing" simulation for a number of years and see this discussion come up on a cyclic basis--almost exclusively on forums which cover "high-fidelity or study simulations." This is actually a pretty easy problem to solve. Webster's first definition for the word game is: an activity engaged in for diversity or amusement. That is certainly true for most computer or console games like the DCS series, Lock-On, The Witcher, Halo, and many more. To those who like the genre (Action, Adventure, RPG, Simulation, Shooter, Racer, ...), they are fun and provide some sort of escape from the drudgery of real life. Simulations sold to the general public for amusement seem to me to be a subset of games in general--this is not about military or civilian simulators that are used to train real-life pilots. There are a number of simulations like Tiger Woods Golf or train simulations for wanabee engineers or sports sims on the WII or Formula F-1 racing where people play at doing something that is like a real-world activity that they might not be able to participate in. There is a further breakdown of genre within the simulations field that includes flight simulations. Contenders here include the Falcon series, LO-MAC, the DCS series, FSX, X-Plane and others. And these are further genre-divided into military or civilian and also into "study flight sims" and "regular flight sims." Presumably, study sims are those that require a certain amount of study to master ... maybe there can be a further break down into regular study sims and hard study sims for those of us who are still trying to fly the Shark? :megalol: So it should be clear that DCS:A-10C and DCS:BS are games. And they are simulations. And they are study simulations (assuming page number in manual > 100 or so pages means you gotta study). And they might even be classified as hard study flight simulations (because it takes practice and study to fly and fight as they were intended to be used :)). And it should be further clear that we all (or at least most of us) fly the A-10 or Ka-50 because it provides some sense of accomplishment, some amusement at pretending (or simulating) destruction, some means of easing the pressures of a hard day at the office, or even some period of laughter and pleasantness. Which clearly meets the requirements to be called a game. So, I propose that we clearly label our favorite toys as accurately as possible. From now on, maybe we should call DCS:A-10C an Accurate Simulating and Gaming Environment (A-SAGE). And maybe it's OK for some people to say game when they get enjoyment and others to say simulation when they experience satisfaction.

Making a USB UFC for A-10 C`
blaster454 replied to shu77's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Nice, WarriorX. Is it necessary to run the CH software to use the MFP? In other words, is the MFP recognized in the simulator as a controller so that buttons can be assigned in the sim or game? -

Very nice! !S! But, is the Trim hat marking correct? I thought that trim forward (or up) was Nose Down?

Any ideas as to why Amazon US has not picked this up yet? They have had it listed for several days as being available from one or another third-party seller but so far they have no hint that they will ever carry it. I wonder if this is a choice by Thrustmaster for some reason. I would much rather purchase through Amazon than a reseller for several reason (prime shipping, excellent return policy, ...). Just curious ...

I have the same issue. I can set custom snap views using the NUMPAD0 + NUMPADx, use camera controls to change view, then RALT NUMPAD0 to save. I can return to the saved snap view(s) any time as long as I don't exit the 3d portion of the sim. If I exit, and look at snapviews.lua I see that it is empty and no snap views had been saved. Going back into the 3d simulation and pressing LWIN + NUMPADx to go to a snapview gives me a blue screen. I can get back to a cockpit view by varying the zoom with NUMPAD/ or NUMPAD* but there are no saved snap views. I assume that saving snap views is not yet functional?

I checked Simware this morning and their price to ship to the US was about $80US. That's expensive and probably not a fast shipment method. SCSimulations had 10 come in and sold all 10. Dell says they expect release today (whatever that means) but their price is a very high $631. I'm not aware of any other stock in the US yet. Amazon US doesn't even know what it is . FWIW, I think the BLT final price of about $515 with free shipping may be the standard for a while.

Did anyone notice when trying to assign control buttons in the Options menu that when you scroll horizontally the Actions column scrolls off the screen? Prior behavior was for the Actions column to remain frozen and the controller columns to scroll?

I found that after a few drinks the rides on top of the building didn't look nearly so bad ... but I could never drink enough to try them! :megalol:

Well, just so people believe I have it running on Win 7 64-bit here's a shot of the desktop showing TARGET and SysInfo. I did nothing special on the install and there were no failures or crashes of any type -- I do have UAC turned off. Sorry, I know that is little help.
-
I've got it installed and running on Win 7 64-bit system--did nothing special on the install but I do keep UAC turned off. Have not done a lot with TARGET yet but it does launch and detects my two MFD's ... the default behavior seems to be to remove them from the Win7 controllers list and add them to the Thrustmaster virtual controller (they are added back to the Windows list when TARGET exits). I have not had a TARGET crash yet.

TARGET Software available!!
blaster454 replied to Timmay's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
It installed fine on my Win7 64-bit system. Seems to be running great and the first thing it did was recognize my two MFD's. The GUI is pretty slick looking and relatively easy to use. The script is complex but seems to offer more power than Foxy did ... that's an initial opinion. All in all, it is a nice looking package. -
I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Some people complain saying that Smallwood spends too much time on the pilots but that is what make his books for me. There is plenty here on tactics and the workings of an AF squadron in combat.
-
TARGET software and manuals may be available on TM's FTP site: ftp://ftp.thrustmaster.com/accessories/pc/hotas/software/TARGET/ Not sure if this is the final release although the exe is labeled as an RC. There was one report where the executable would not run on Win7 64-bit but it might be that the SW requires the hardware to be installed. Caveat Emptor! :)

I checked TM's Tech Support download page and they have the Warthog HOTAS listed under PC/Joysticks. There are two download possibilities: Software and Manual and right now they both return a "test" screen. So they are apparently ready for it but there is nothing there yet. I expect it might show up here first. (Link - http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=files_faq ) They are still listing "Ready for takeoff" as today but it's after business hours now in France, I think.
