  1. The laser for the MMS (or the one on the Apache or anything else designating a target for a laser guided missile/bomb) cannot be seen by the naked eye or under NVGs. You just know that you boresited the laser before take off and know where the crosshair is on your screen and your missile bomb (if in the right mode) is picking up properly coded laser energy (PCLE). I think the confusion comes from movies/ tv shows (I'm looking at you JAG) where they show the lasers. We had a laser on the .50 cal (which i personally didn't use much) and we carried an IZLID laser pointer in the cockpit too (I also saw some handheld lasers that could be put on kind of like a glove missing fingers and you could point with your index finger with an laser emitter, I didn't use them) The laser on the gun (also an IZLID) and the hand held IZLID could both be seen under NVGs, but could not be seen by the TIS in the helicopter.
  2. THe KW's organic weapons are for self defense. There are also defensive missions for a KW, Screening, Guarding and Covering are all defensive operations.
  3. The services do exchange tours in which pilots can fly with other services and the air forces of other nations. It is possible for a USMC pilot to be flying and USAF jet. Example... CPT Charles Magill
  4. Kiowas are scouts. The KW's weapons are for self defense. In a conventional fight this is particularly important, the KW scouts ahead, and sends back target information to artillery units, fixed-wing attack aircraft or attack helicopters. This is what is meant by having others use their weapons. In a COIN environment you try to do the same, but use your own weapons more often because you are supporting ground forces in an environment that is more permissive to an aircraft.
  5. It is a Kiowa shooting. The .50 cal can only be used on the left pylon. There is a laser that can be boresited to the gun for use with NVGs. The button in the cockpit can be seen in this picture.
  6. I hope he is a WSO (can't zoom in enough to see his wings). That center pouch is huge and would make reaching around it for the stick a pain.
  7. Zelle and PayPal are additional options
  8. I have an external (USB) sound card with two outputs for sound, I'm using one of those for the buttkicker and I use my quest 2 speakers for sound when playing. Do I need another sound card?
  9. I got a Buttkicker Gamer Plus for Christmas. I have it all hooked up and power running. I have downloaded (but not yet installed) Simshaker for Aviators and Simshaker Sound Module. I have the buttkicker hooked up through the headphone jack. Do I just need to install Simshaker for Aviators and Simshaker Sound Module to complete my set up? Thanks
  10. Anything like FPSVR for non steam users?
  11. I'm getting one in around 26 days...I'll let you know if I have the same issues. I really wanted it for rotary-wing too.
  12. I'm getting messages for every aircraft from AWACS, not just mine and the messages are taking up half the screen. This is new with 2.8. Is there a option I have failed to recheck or another solution to this problem? I have seen a suggestion to change the radio frequency, but then I lose the AWACS messages that are for me.
  13. Delete everything out of the FXO file and everything out of the Metashaders2 folders, right?
  14. I saw it suggested that I should delete FXO and Metashader files after each update to DCS. How do I do this? When I look in my Eagle Dynamics folder I have 2 FXO files. One is in C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\F14 with 4 files (DDD.fxo, Jestercam.fxo, Lantirn.fxo and TCS.fxo) The other file is C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar\shaders with a single zip file (fxo.zip) What do I delete? What about the metashaders? I have a C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar Shaders\metashaders.edc with multiple folders and files within each. Do I delete all of these?
  15. Thanks. I'm going to look into one.
  16. How does the Ushake pad work with DCS? What type of review would you give it?
  17. Just an email to Andre and then a bitcoin transfer?
  18. That looks like a day HUD. Ive never seen anyone actually use one. I don't know if there was one for the KW. That one looks like it would be compatible with Blackhawk or a Chinook, not a Kiowa. As already said the PDU would have been attached to the aircraft.
  19. The movie was an odd situation in which the pilot was nearly comatose. In a normal fuel critical situation the crew discusses what their plan is and how they will manage the fuel situation.
  20. I'm stand alone not Steam, so changing the steam settings won't help me. I should've mentioned it in my initial post. I did try changing the pixel density in the occulus software and that helped. I had changed it in DCS and saw no difference, I hadn't thought to try it in the Oculus software.
  21. Glad you enjoyed the book. I'll pass it on.
  22. Gauges in the Tomcat are blurry, not unreadable, but take far more concentration to read than a quick glance because they are blurry or I have to lean in to read labels (on the radios or to set the gun count). Any recommendations? Thanks. Playing with the following: Quest 2 Ryzen 5 3600 32 GB Ram Nvidia RTX 3080
