When I was in the market to build around my G2 Covid was in full swing and of course the mining bull crap, computer parts especially gpu’s/3090 was extremely hard to get even if you have the 3 grand or more to get one just for the gpu. I wanted a 3090 period for my G2 and DCS and I got lucky when I purchased the R11/3090 last year in March. That machine and knowing how to work AWCC thermal runs DCS and my G2 like a champ and I’m still on steamvr and haven’t found the need to switch to OPenXR… yet. I’m also in the market for a laptop but for work and not gaming.

Yes, pc based but not sure about the laptops but it sickening.

Okay yeah true but I don’t concentrate on perf numbers not unless is really serious and I can feel it. I have been tuned in with my HP G2 for over a year now and I don’t see or feel perf hits. But your right especially for lower spec systems.

Tracker IR and monitor “1440” mode is beautiful and DCS really shines playing in 2d mode. But VR is more like the really thing and I chosed VR because of that reason and because I can feel the G’s not so much in 2d. It’s more of a presence than anything really they are both good just take a pick or do both.

Yup the 24gb of vram is the key to good vr performance and maxed out setting from there you just gotta take what it gives you.

But I think you will be good for VR with that gpu having 12gb of vram. I have heard people with Amd rigs have to use a usb hub. I would recommend the G2 and it’s new cable version that helped the red team either the G2 version 1 or V2.

Yeah I have my G2 hooked up to a Type C USB 3.2 Gen2. Transfer speed of 10Gbps

I’ve had absolutely no problems with updating the NVidia Drivers through NVidia GeForce Experience. I always do the Custom/clean install.

I would go with the New Alienware 34” QLED it’s got good reviews, but that’s just me I have the older model Aw3420DW 120hz and it awesome at 1440p I mean beautiful with DCS ,but then I went to VR and well it’s just not the same. I love the monitor tho.

also to get the mouse working in DCS/cockpit you’ll have to Alt Tab to another window like the WMR window then click Win+y then tab over to the DCS screen

My experience with Alienware and AWCC thermals/fans is to use a manual offset for the fans… 1 speed while game NO curves. And use MSI Afterburners Custom fan option. Set it and forget it.

Yeah that’s the thing about the 3090 and it’s 24gb of vram … you just don’t have to worry about it and focus on other areas. Its the best gpu for VR. Just recently I was noticed my 3090 vrams hitting 23.8 and getting stutters and then freezing. The issue was wmr4s beta update and had to revert to another version. And that fixed my issue.

About 4" But theres alot of adjustments. I'm standard.

Yeah SoH is using it now and said it’s Huge which is making me want to make the switch now but I need build my confidence up because I’m terrible with changes. What to do what to do !

You said you want maxed out settings or close too and future VR also big missions/ multiplayer. Moneys not an issue so I’m guessing you want to invest and not just buy. I would go with a 3090 / 24gb of vram on that card and it proven to deliver the maxed out setting your interested in. My Vr setting are just about equal to my 2d setting when I use to play on a 34” ultrawide 120hz. Also highly recommend 64gb of gaming Ram. I bought a prebuilt for VR/G2 last because it was impossible to get a 3090 and was not interested in any other gpu period. It’s still hard to get that card today no matter prebuilt or not. You have to commit more to VR with your investment not as much as you would with playing 1440p monitor and Headtracking. I’m sorry but a 3070 - 3080 and VR with your wish to max out setting will be slim. But there is OpenXR and so many other mods that helps systems that are struggling. I’m mod free and my VR image and performance is close to a 2d image/perf… good enough for me.

Sometimes it just a WMR update that makes things run like crap. I recently had to do this and it solved my issue.

I don’t always like having my feet on the rudder pedals which is why I opted for the TM TPR pedals. It’s a solid piece of perfection but man are they expensive too. Virpil is pure quality too!

That’s correct but sometimes I have to alt-tab to the wmr screen then win+y then tab back in to the DCS screen then put my g2 on.
