  1. i couldnt wait to go get the disc version.... I downloaded my DCS from direct to drive in the uk - could they be used for the manual as well as they are download only ? if not Ill wait for Matt to sell them.... hope he has good feedback ;) (joking :) )
  2. This comes up after every mission or track or training I watch. I click close and then it takes me back to the DCS main screen. Game works fine but just a bit annoying having to close the window after each session. Any ideas? have uptodate drivers and 1.01
  3. pedals work mint - thanks
  4. Ah nice one can't wait to try that tonight. :)
  5. Just when I think about giving up I take a look at your demo frazer then I think I gotta do that! Awesome flying. Great video - please make another when you have time!
  6. also I have G25 wheel and pedals (not connected at the same time) are these pedals useful for the rudder as Im thinking pedals are vital for rudder......
  7. (if i can chip in on the same post and problem if I may kraszus) im too having problems with it to be honest - I still think its awesome but am struggling. Which mission or training should I be using to learn the basics. Take over from the training video? or select the shooting range mission? If I hit `quick start` to startup the options etc that are enabled - is this the easiest/correct setup to learn to fly ? i.e with the FD enabled or not and all the settings lit up ? Im waiting to see if I can order a manual to see if that helps. My helicopter seems to instantly go backwards on takeoff and veers off all over the place sometimes - really not sure whether I should have FD enabled and all or some of the AP stuff.... is the helicopter trying to head to a waypoint programmed in the training missions etc that Im trying to fight against ?! Some more videos would be cool to look at of you guys that have mastered basic flight would be very good. (my problem is the little boy who is 6 months wont let me have as many flying hours as I would like ;) I will persevere though !
  8. Well I changed the settings for the cougar - much better. Enabled the fd button - voila it seems a much tamer beast.... Still haven't spent more than couple of hours but I can now take off and land ok (on the roof of a building - joyriding!) Still shakey but a lot better than I was. Now to sort out the trackir (pro 3 with vector) - again way too sensitive at default. Does this need to be changed via the trackir software or via dcs options? I must admit I'm still struggling rudder wise..... Anybody manage to use the G25 pedals well or am I going to have to invest in some more pedals!? Thanks for the help so far fellas.
  9. thanks for the updates fellas... will try these settings as soon as our new little 4 month old baby will let me get back to Black Shark!
  10. cool glad to hear it - will change settings.
  11. cheers ericinexile.... Ive missed what the flight director buttons do in the manual - Ill go and look it up again. I have had all 4 AP buttons lit while `taking over` from the training tracks so I guess ive been trying to hard to override the AP I guess... because when I try the shooting range mission the helicopter dont seem as wild - maybe the settings (quick startup) are not the same as the training track. Ill look over the manual again. Thanks again. (I still cant manage to change the fine tune setting via the options in shark - they just grayed out and I cant select them.... any ideas? )
  12. yeah great video.
  13. hey zembia - nope not got them plugged in at the same time as the cougar.... and I changed the config file to reflect no FF.... But I guess I do need to get them setup sooner rather than later... its not good really having to keep hitting the keyboard for the rudder.
  14. Yeah ill check the ap heading pretty sure all are on at the startup. Ill check the trim setting... Was using vipers cougar profile -but I've started a new one just for myself. I did look at the axes fine tune option but it wouldn't let me change anything....
  15. thanks smil.... so the default options in the game are twitchy already with say a cougar ? I guess everybody has different preference. Inrptrn: Yep I tried this a bit to be honest not using the trim and I really couldnt get a level and straight flight.... continuously twitching the stick to straighten up etc... which was why I was asking if the AP was trying to turn to a waypoint or something - or maybe I missed another option. Ill have a look at the sens/deadband settings - see if they help. and yeah I hate those people that make it look so easy ;) thanks guys - Ill battle on....
  16. ok ok ive watched the trim video.... and the track files.... (flying into the hangar is soooooo cool!) alas my flight experience is really very very cagey. I have bought a cougar - perhaps the wrong stick for DCS but never the less its what I got... I have no pedals (although I have a G25 sat here....) and trackir 3 pro..... now I gotta admit that I really cannot even make basic flight very well. I load up the basic flight training and hit escape and take over the cotrols. I have CTRL enter pressed so I can see what my stick is doing..... I can vertical take off and fly ... sort of.... my problem is the trimming I think or the way the autopilots are on. Some questions if I may. 1) Is there a way to dampen the cougars / game sensitivity ... I mean a small push or pull on the cougar and the choppper nose dives... rolls to the left slightly ... and is just so twitchy.... This aint a dig at DCS I KNOW its me but im not sure whether I have the cougar setup correctly or theres some function of the helicopter enabled that shouldnt be. Is creating an empty mission myself any different (settings wise) to `taking over` from the training tracks... 2) the trim.... I understand what it does... but I take off pitch forward ...say 10d and trim.... I make a slight bank to the left or right etc.... adjust slightly with the collective.... and again just a small turn of the dial on the throttle seems to send me heading for the deck or up into the heavens. After trying to slow down and hover say I find the helicopter just wanting to spin round. Im making small adjustments on the stick an not trying to fight the helicopter but finding it really frustrating.... the training tracks just look so easy hence why Im not sure whether ive selected or should be deselecting some autopilot function. 3) sorry last one.... Ive just read a post `keep trim pressed while making any kind of manouver and let go after executing turn/bank etc.... ?!?! What! I thought I just hit the trim once and trim again when I need to ???? should it be held in ? is that where Im going wrong? Sorry for the long post ... but really need some basic help. Im going to buy the printed manual when amazon uk stock it but in the meantime anybody whos mastered the shark wanna help me out Id appreciate it.
  17. loads fine... I hit some training... working... I quit.... box comes up DCS has stoppped working on desktop .... I click cancel.... simulation goes back to main menu ? No mods installed... and pretty fresh (as in a week) OS (vista 64) install... latest gfx etc drivers installed. I guess not a major issue but the pop up box is annoying. Any ideas ?
  18. thaks matt.. I was thinking I downloaded a video of the hangar video ... forgot the tracks.. cheers.
  19. yeah searching through them now.... also had wrong option on this thread set so didnt view all posts . Doh. This sim is truly awesome.
  20. WOW. Glowing that is awesome - is it possible to get higher res version anywhere ? Cheers Matt. Anybody know that video I was after.... the flying in the hangar vid ?
  21. hey guys am just going to grab a few of the latest and or greatest videos.... stuff to catch up on as I missed the launch of Black Shark... care to chip in with your favourites and a link ? also which was the video where the guy flew into the hangar and spun round then reversed out and took off again ! TIA
  22. Thanks. Yeah they are. Guess ill keep at it. Have a 4 month old little boy who won't quite let me fly for very long at a time!
  23. ah no im stupid. In red it states down = trim and HOLD trim. reset cougar. This is what Ive been pressing thinking its not working. The other thing is ..... ive enabled the control indicator as slowhand suggested - I hit trim and the setting I want.... Nose forward for example.... indicator is dead centre but forward as it should be but the helicopter has a slight roll to the right. if I reset the trim it moves down to centre - Ive pressed keyboard nose down and trimmed and it still rolls slightly to the right.... am I missing something else ? thanks for the above replies.
