  1. I believe so but I can't be a 100% sure.
  2. During DS the inboard mav did cause slight damage to the well pod (not the tire itself) when fired but, with the advancements in the rocket propelant this is not as big a problem as it was then. Mavs have been fired from the inboard rail with only slight singeing of the paint on the wheel pod.
  3. I would like to clarify something here so everyone doesn’t get the wrong idea about the LAU-88. Yes it had problems during Desert Storm and the drag when using them is great but, this doesn’t mean the LAU-88 is not a piece of equipment forgotten by the A-10 community. After Desert Storm the LAU-88 was modified to fix the reliability problems encountered during DS. The LAU-88 is still deployed with the A-10 and can be used at a moments notice to triple the load capabilities of the A-10. During OIF the LAU-88 was used to ferry Mavericks from the main operating bases to the FOL This cut the amount of time needed to support the FOLs and gave the A-10s forward operating capabilities quicker than could be done other wise. The LAU-88 is still a part of the A-10 inventory and will be until the A-10C is fully operational.
  4. An AIM-9 F-16 kill by an A-10.... http://www.warthogpen.com/video_clips/aim9_1.wmv
  5. I also have a couple of Hawgs pulling patrol on my Christmas tree...you know how those pesky Grinch's can be.
  6. Glad you guys like it, I wrote the words and my daughter (Missy) sang it. You can find a printable (or email) version on my website.... http:/www.warthogpen.com
  7. New engines are not part of the C upgrade but are a seprate program. Also the engine upgrade is a non-funded program at this time so "new" engine are not for sure at this time.
  8. Yes, that would be the "lock-on after launch" Mav which is in development. I'm not saying HFs on the A-10 would be a bad idea it would just be the enviroment would have to be right (low SAm/AAA) to use them.
  9. Yes it could but the addition of the litening pod is to move the A-10 up and out of the largest ground threats range (MANPADS ect.), why would you then move it back to low level by adding "short range" weapons like the HF?
  10. The A-10 has never carried Hellfires because when the Hog was being developed the HF didn't have the range of the AGM-65 and the HF was not as mature weapons system as it is today. Who knows you may see them on the A-10 some day now that the HF has matured. The Pave Penny pod (as stated) is a laser reciver only and can't guide LGBs. Also the A-10 doesn't have 1760 wiring to "talk" to smart weapons so the only way it could drop during buddy laseing is if the weapon is "coded" pry to takeoff.
  11. Yea and we need some of them phosphorus bombs like the US uses in iraq!
  12. Thanks Paulie!
  13. wsoul2k, I haven't downloaded any mods or patches for LOMAC in a while and haven't played the sim in like forever so, I don't know how far it's been taken from the original model. I do remember one off the top of my head and it's the CCRP mode, this mode was not in LASTE 4.0 but was added to LOMAC in the first or second patch.
  14. The A-10 has been able to carry the LITENING II pod and and LGBs for the past few years just as John Sponauer piece said. After the PE mod (in test now) it will also be able to carry the new Lockheed Martin SNIPER pod also. The new A-10C will have fully intergrated weapons/stories managment system, 2 MFCDs, UFC, and HOTAS to name a few upgrades. S77th-GOYA- yes if you get a targeting diamond in the HUD "someone" is LASING the target and a LGB released from the A-10 would strike that target so it is buddy lasing.
  15. Thanks for the welcome D-Scythe, I drop-by every once-in-a-while to see how the Hawg (I helped build) in LOMAC/FC is doing. I'm sorry don't meant to "burn" anyone just get the fact out. Yes, the K should only be in the LASTE V6.0 but that has been added (with a few other items) after the release of LOMAC so I had nothing to do with it. I help build a "true to the real thing" A-10 (LASTE V 4.0), after the release of the sim in when in other directions. Nothing wrong with that but what you have now is a LASTE V 5.0 (which never happened in real life. I'm a purist I guess....
  16. Quick-draw is indpendent of the Mav version and is aircraft software based, this feature only came to the A-10 in LASTE V 6.0, not in the LASTE V4.0 Hawg modeled in LOMAC/FC.
  17. So I guess I win the beer?? ;)
  18. 76-519 FT Leonardwood MO, (Museum) placed there in 1993.
  19. I believe that is located at Barksdale ANG base LA. I can't see the tail number (on the nose) very well what do you guys think it is...618?
  20. Here's the story behine 205.... http://www.warthogpen.com/walloffame.html
  21. No US aircraft (to my knowledge) have avionics "which run on batteries and are recharged by the generators". Also no "backup electrical motors".
  22. The A-10s APU can provide emerg. power to the aircraft but, to provide hydro. power a handle inside the airframe must be moved so this can't be done in-flight. If you are out of gas for the engines...you are out of gas for the APU also. The "little turbine motor" you speak of was call a RAT (Ram Air Turbin), we had them on some models of the F-4 Phantom but, no modern aircraft in the USAF inventory today have them as far as I know....more trouble than they were worth.
  23. Hey guys, I'm still around but been busting my butt on the PE (A-10C) upgrade and haven't been playing sims with what little spare time I do have. Wpnssgt, been kinda a rough year and not getting better. My contract with the A-10 SPO is up in 5 weeks and I have no job in sight so, I guess I will be leaving the A-10 program. I did get an offer from Lockheed Martin but, I would have to move to Nellis AFB and without going into detail I just can't do it at this stage in my life. Sorry to bore ya, I just drop by here every once in a while to see what's happening.
  24. Early 1990s LASTE 4.0 pre-EGI, NVIS, and pre-Lightning Hawg.
