Runtime errors to desktop (texture error included)
JD_LincsUK replied to JD_LincsUK's topic in Game Crash
Okay - here's an update with the text from the crash dialog. Unless I'm mistaken - and I'm no expert on these things - it looks like the crash is being caused by the starforce UH-1 module: -
The flashing building issue is visible in the linked video, but this thread is about the runtime errors since patching to 1.2.6 The runtime error occurs apparently randomly during the mission. I get returned to the debriefing screen, where there is a not available message, when I do anything on that screen there is another error, returning to the main GUI. I was testing Bandicam recording when the errors conveniently cropped up again so: http://youtu.be/qbzAlq-OYT0

Been flying the Revanche campaign, as adapted for FC3, and flew the first 3 missions on the last 1.2.5 release version. Updated today and flew a further 2 missions. Issues since update are: 1: Some buildings have flashing textures - looks like they are reflecting the evening sun, but they flash repeatedly. As soon as the Sun is no longer on them, they stop flashing. 2: Freezes. I'm flying the Su-25A which is not a complicated cockpit as far as gimmicks go - I'm getting freeze-ups from a second to 3 to 4 seconds. My framerates were very good on 1.2.5 - in the 50's on average, but I didn't check the frames in 1.2.6 (busy trying to stay alive) but it didn't look any worse but for these sudden freezes. If I change to external view cycling, the problem gets worse, and seems to be worse in the VC, the lower my altitude, with actually on the deck being the worst. 3: Any chance we can have a bit less Russian? Yeah, it's atmosphere etc etc - but it sucks when there's a battle going on and I can't understand what is going on between the units. The debrief screen is also full of Russian words and I can only guess which aircraft is mine, as it no longer has my callsign next to it. (okay - not a 1.2.6 thing, but still...) Anyone who likes the Rook should fly this campaign in FC3, though - with the new Su-25 pit and views it's much more fun than in FC2.

I'm a bit suss of that raise/lower ASP17 (sight glass) function. I lowered the glass all the way, then when I attacked some targets with S25 missiles they both landed short. One by a couple of metres and one by about 50 or so metres. Not even any damage to the targets. Might not be connected but it hasn't happened before, although the laser point was not staying exactly where I'd locked it (on the vehicle) either - but each time it started moving I relocked it. btw guys, I'm flying the Revanche campaign again - it was adjusted to fit FC3 now - you can get it from the DCS downloads section. Apart from 2 training missions in the 25T it's all 25A stuff - well all the ones I've flown are :) Here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/358231/

Get 6DOF for Russian Planes NOW!

Yes, it's sorted using the settings recommended and my new viewpoints, thanks for the tip. -
Get 6DOF for Russian Planes NOW!
JD_LincsUK replied to Tarez's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'll give it a look and see. I'd seen that before, but I struggle with reading a lot of stuff on a PC screen - I've saved the post to read and digest in small chunks :) -

JD_LincsUK replied to Tarez's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
The problem for me is that, although the 6DOF works nicely in the Su-25T, it adds an ugly extra frame to the Su-25A. Look from 0:58 on this video: http://youtu.be/pIwDlP6MsQ0 -
Nevada map was announced how long ago? FC3 was announced a few weeks ago. So guess how long you're going to wait for it ;) Doesn't bother me, though - I'm not buying it! :P

http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/ordinance?q=ordinance who says those English language exam results should be regraded? Even for a foreigner like yourself! :P Sorry - it's just one that seems to pop up more and more these days (like "aircrafts" and "reticle" and such like)

VERGEEV Group campaign RELEASED!
JD_LincsUK replied to FGSchtuzer's topic in User Created Missions General
Ha ha - like everyone else! :) I was just wondering, as on my last recent visit to the Vergeev website, 1/20 was still for sale for 1.0.2, so I guessed why not? I still have 1.0.2 installed, specifically for the older missions and this campaign. I think the reason we see so few missions released for DCSW and the two v1.1.1.1 releases is because ED/DCS change compatibility with each patch. I think they are slowly killing off the indie mission making scene. I only make small missions for myself - mostly to practice one procedure or another. I have little incentive to go further into complex mission making as it may well change any time and I'd be back at square one. -

I've been thinking about this and I came to wonder why, if the next 20 missions were complete, that they were not released for sale, too? If the 1/20 part is still for sale for BS 1.0.2, then why not release the 2/20 that was ready for 1.0.2 as well? We can only fly the 1/20 on 1.0.2 - surely it doesn't really make sense to then fly 2/20 in BS2 or DCSW? Or is the 1/20 part also being updated to BS2 standard? -

Thank you for the info. I don't know what you disagree about, though? I was saying that I will buy only complete campaigns in future, which I think is quite fair enough. It has nothing to do with the amount charged, or the quality of the work, so I don't know why you have said that. -

Hmmm, would seem so, then. I'll think very carefully before I pay for any more campaigns - and they will need to be complete before I do. -

Is this project dead now, then? I see part 1/20 is still being sold on the leroni site - for BS 1.0.2 (no problem - I still have it installed alongside BS2 and DCSW) but are we ever going to get any more missions? -
Thanks. Well, this is the only high-detail model I currently have - might get some more in future, but I have lots of 'normal' ones I'm building in the meantime - like the MiG-15 attached. I'm just setting up a website which will show my models and include a building blog - I'll put the link in my sig when it's ready, if it's permitted.
-
Thanks, Cali - yes, I used several different types of paint and some commercial wash for the dirt and weathering, airbrushed on the outside and brush-painted in the cockpit and details.
-
Thank you. I couldn't say how many hours - I built it over a 3 month period, working on it for a few hours most weekdays. I did lose some small photo-etch parts and some were too small for me to manage, so it could have been better. Eduard have just released a new version of this model with better mouldings and different paint schemes.
-
When I mentioned buying this 1/48 model about a year ago I was asked to post some pics when it was completed - so here you go: yes, I had some issues with it - mainly the old Kopro moulds, but it turned out quite okay, I think :)
-
Ah, now I realised why it was illegible. I said it was okay before - and that's because I was using the correct HOTAS profile before. Last night when I was having difficulty reading the HUD, I had my BS2 profile loaded. I had just jumped in to take some screenshots for LockOnFiles and forgot to change the profile. I remembered when I started flying this evening. It's my age, you see :(
-
G00Dnight has it spot on afaic. I sought out this topic because I found that whilst flying, I had severe issues trying to read what was written on the HUD. When I zoom in either with TIR or my zoom assigned slider, the text on the HUD stays the same size - and unreadable to me. Funny thing is - I don't remember having this issue before. I could wear my reading specs - but my monitor is several inches out of 'range' and would be a blur. And no, my optician won't give me bifocals! I had severe iritis a while back (arthirits of the iris) and it really screws your eyes up long after you get rid of it. I'm screwed.

Okay, I used my credit card and am currently downloading the missions. I would really prefer Paypal, though and it is frustrating to have it shown as a payment method and then not be able to use it. -

On your e-store page there is a list of payment options, including Paypal. When I get to the payment method selection it is not listed. How do I pay by Paypal, please? Thanx JD c/s Brixmis -
multi monitor picture request !
JD_LincsUK replied to hannibal's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
How to do it - 1680x1050 main screen, 1440x900 screen on the left on Win7 x64. I've been trying everything I've read, spent hours and hours over the last 3 days and had real sods of a headache several times, and finally, by reading all 35 pages here, more at SimHQ and the VAAF wiki page, I have managed to suss this baby. Here's how: I found that it was impossible to make anything appear to the left of the START button on the taskbar - nothing would ever appear in my left monitor. All the stuff I wanted to see was appearing on my main monitor, and the game screen was starting 1440 pixels along it, disappearing off to the right. So I told Windows that my second screen was actually on the right. You do this by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting "Screen Resolution" from the pop-up menu. You get a box pop-up like the one below. It shows both your screens - you click on either of them to change the properties, which are displayed in the various boxes below it. What you do here, is click on the secondary monitor on the left - hold down the left mouse button and drag the screen to right of the main display. As far as windows is concerned, your display is now on the right, not on the left. Please note that you now will no longer be able to move your mouse cursor off the left of the main screen onto the secondary. You have to move it off the right side of the main screen, and it will appear on the left side of your secondary. This can wind you up a bit when you forget and takes getting used to - you can just do this for when you want to fly BS, then change it back afterwards. Also note that you can change the relative height of your second screen, compared to the main one. You can put it aligned with the top, or aligned with the bottom, which is how I have it. If you align with the top, you will need slightly different settings, which I will explain in the text files. If you've not read any of this post up to here (shame on you!) you will also need to select "Extend these displays" in the properties and also run BS in windowed mode (untick the "Fullscreen" box in the options dialogue). Okay, once you have reset the screen position (don't forget to click "Apply" - the screen will flash, and it will be done) you can set about changing your files. Now I personally used the "shkval+camera.lua" file, becuase I knew I would never be using it in this installation at least, for flying in BS. You may prefer to create a separate file and edit that. Here is what needs to be in it: Now, if you aligned the top of your secondary monitor with the top of your main screen, then you need to set the figure in bold to "0", so: That's because this tells BS how far down from the height of your mainscreen to display the image. The end of your options.lua should look like this: The only things you need to change are "aspect" and "width". Don't forget to use a text editor like notepad++ or Textpad - not standard windows stuff. This is the result: Though this is actually what windows sees: That's it. Have fun :) JD -
As stated - this start up is as per the lesson in-sim, and as they don't refer to pitot heat in that, it's not in this diagram.: JD

Never mind - obviously not what's required, but nevertheless was useful at the time.
