I really believe it's an elevation translation issue isolated only to certain maps. I've submitted the bug to ED so let's hope it's been resolved in 2.0.

For info on how much better the M1A2 SEP is than the Saudi M1A1, read about the TUSK modification. It's really amazing. A video went viral recently of a TUSK equipped tank taking a direct hit from an ATGM and shrugging it off.. then turning turret on opfor and retorting.. it was sweet.

It may be easiest to show you this list of command aggregates I created for Voice Activated Commands (VAC). Look under the FLIGHT COMS section and this shows you what you can tell your wingmen. Take note of 'Flight Engage Data Link Multiple Targets', and 'Flight Engage Data Link Multiple Targets By Type'. These commands are also available for individual wingmen (see WINGMAN COMS). If you read through the list it may give you other ideas of how to engage your flight or individual wingmen.. it's easier to understand in aggregate.

Is this Kim Jong-un watching a KPA pilot train using DCS? They need to request help in the forums to fix their home build... that's really bad..

Is it possible to make the TPG track the gun pip?
StrongHarm replied to Fallout's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I like to SPI on Zmark for SA and BDA myself. I don't always use it, especially TGP, but in some situations it's really handy, so I always setup Zmark when engaging low just in case. -

If your goal is to set your TGP to your gun target so you can set SPI to something you're going to fire at, I would recommend simply using the Zmark. After you fire at a target switch your STEER PT to MARK on the Avionics Panel, then slave all to SOI. Your TGP will be looking at what you just shot. This is TTP for me when on gun runs. It's quick to do and allows good situational awareness and easy reacquire. I started doing this as standard procedure after many cases where I'd get distracted by defensive actions or spotting other targets while going around for another pass and I'd lose my initial target. -
Fer Fer, this is a Quality Assurance doc. This is the way the military does things. They set the bar at 150% and expect 100%. High QA and logistics standards is why the US has a superior military force. If you cleaned and serviced your favorite weapon as thoroughly as you could I would find 20 inspection infractions. Do some research and look at the readiness rates of previous aircraft over their service life. You'll find that the phase01 readiness was extremely low but raised steadily over the life of the aircraft. Take a look at the F-35 readiness in relation to other aircraft. It's already at 62% last I heard (USMC). The F-15 in relation was in the 40s when it went operational. Here are some reference averages:

Entering the mission you'll see Cancel/MissionPlanner/Fly. Select MissionPlanner Click each aircraft Click Payload Choose popdown to change paint scheme Change to anything but Army Standard If you don't see all the aircraft in the mission planner you may have to open it in the Mission Editor Click KA50 on the left Browse to Campaigns folder Open the appropriate campaign mission Click View Unit List Filter for Helicopters For each KA50, Click Payload Choose popdown to change paint scheme Change to anything but Army Standard Save the mission

This is the second post today where I've tried to help you and you've responded in the negative. I don't know if it will fix your problem, but the symptoms are very similar and it worked for me... give it a shot. Hope things start looking up for you pal.

I'd say it's elusive.. to the devs. I reported it last year. I know they have many irons in the fire thought.

I found a work around for this issue. Go into the mission planner and change all KA50s to any paintscheme other than 'Army Standard':

I've experienced this same issue and it seems to be an illusive bug related to only certain maps. I did some troubleshooting here are my results: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=134388&highlight=shval&page=2

Recalculate Heading by subtracting from it
StrongHarm replied to Taurian's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I too use the HSI as a visual reference for quick reciprocals and differentials if it's not one that I happen to have memorized. If you're interested in some other methods though, check this out: http://www.digitalflightinstructor.com/reciprocal-headings/ -
Bessie had always bragged to the other gals that she would one day fly.. they had long ago determined that she was just a crazy old heifer and she was all but shunned. Then one morning they noticed her limping and playing sick.. they couldn't have known that it was all part of her elaborate plan... and that after today, the Pen would never be the same...
-
If you're interested in a non-automated solution I would recommend using 'Slew Control Push'. To me it seems intuitive; if you squeeze the right throttle control with your 3rd finger on the slew control push button, it activates the brake.. kind of like squeezing the actual brake lever on the collective.

If you need a manual method to set your default view it's as follows: *pause trackir *slew to desired view and zoom *hit Ralt+0 *hit F1

Another one about the trimmer and autopilot
StrongHarm replied to tacky_taco's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
You guys should frequent Reddit, you'd be in your element. The topic was concerning the continuous use of trim while making course changes. I think this is silly. You simply turn heading AP off, make your change, then turn it back on.. you'll still be nicely trimmed for pitch/bank. Another topic arose concerning the fact that 'you should never, God forbid, turn off AP channels'.. this is like saying 'never turn off the traction control on your car'.. there are certainly useful cases in which to do so (my Camaro 2SS will happily confirm). I personally turn off all AP channels when I need to, and while I have velocity, I experience no instability but have (careful) added agility. I really can't be more clear and arguing doesn't appeal to me. Carry on. -

I don't see how making this suggestion could be "inappropriate".. I wish I'd started doing it earlier as I would have mastered the airframe much quicker. Leaving AP on all the time is like never taking off the training wheels. I know we're a world of skeptics these days, but I would encourage you to explore my previous posts without arbitrarily dismissing them. If only one person is perceptive enough to do so then my time was not wasted. Out. -
How many Gs do you think this 22 is pulling? I'm in awe. http://i.imgur.com/qKpOZEf.gif

Another one about the trimmer and autopilot
StrongHarm replied to tacky_taco's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yurgon, I am indeed actively and deliberately encouraging AP off. I'm not referring to AP off as a flight exercise, but rather a frequent and standard procedure. erjdriver, I'm referring to turning all AP channels off. I wouldn't recommend this when trying to achieve stable flight or while in hover or on takeoff, but when you want the freedom of an agile bird it makes a big difference. I find it convenient to have the AP functions set up on CMS: CMS FWD - AP Heading CMS LFT - AP Bank CMS RT - AP Pitch CMS BK - AP Altitude CMS Push - AP Emerg. Off I now switch the channels on and off with the same automatic regard as I control pitch with the stick axis. Once I got used to it I found it was a big asset... particularly AP Heading. I realized that no matter how you fly you're fighting the AP to some degree, especially during hard maneuvering. Though again, while in stable flight AP is sometimes invaluable, kind of like fly-by-wire compensation for an unstable bird such as the 117. -

Be that as it may; try my exercise, then if AP off still scares you, disregard everything I said. -
I think the whole gun debate is without basis in the first place. There's nothing wrong with the F-35s capabilities WVR, guns or otherwise. As previously stated:

Agreed. I used to use trim exclusively until I learned that I can turn AP heading off, make my correction, then turn it back on to stay in that heading (same affect as trim).. all to much better effect. I eventually settled in to using Emerg. AP Off to turn off all channels when I need to perform agile flight. There's no good reason to leave AP channels on all the time unless you're in a hover... you just end up fighting it. Let me caution you that without stabilization you have to learn the limits and stay within them.. instead of having them imposed upon you through AP. It takes some getting used to, but it's well worth it. I've been flying a long time and this was probably the biggest step in my proficiency. One good exercise I do: Find a building or stationary vehicle and do a 'funnel maneuver' around it.. get 20-30kph side slip and keep your nose on the target so you circle the object while facing it. Try this with AP on and AP off. You'll really see the difference in the agility of the bird. Allow me to present this disclaimer before the debate embroils (:)Yurgon:)): I have no interest in arguing the matter.. this is simply my personal preference and recommendation. Feel free to disregard.
